Uh, the thing about it is...is you really don't believe you can shoot fireballs out of your hand. Nor do I think you really desire for that to happen. As I see it this "law" (if you wanna call it that) is far more practical.
It's about what you focus on is what you "have" in that you will start behaviors that lead you towards that "thought" (focus really). .
@Abobojo, have you read The Secret? It goes to great lengths to explain that the solution will come to you "from the universe". It completely ignores your mind and its faculties. When I first heard of this "law" of attraction I thought about it much the same as you do, but as I read the book I realized that that's not it. I even know people who are convinced that if they sit in a room all day long thinking about what they want, that they will get it through this "law".
Well said. The point I was making in my video is that positive thinking about one's goals is a great motivator for action directed towards accomplishing them. The "law" of attraction is dangerous in that respect because it states that the universe will somehow do everything for you, and all you need to do is "reach out" and take whatever it is you wish. That's why I'm pushing autosuggestion as a rational, realistic "alternative" to the irrational and fictitious "law" of attraction.
"The Secret" is a tremendous psychological menace that preys upon rather desperate people. For someone to expect that he can sit around and just think about what he wants -- & refrain from taking constructive action in his life to better his circumstances -- is to exercise the utmost intellectual laziness. People need to understand that while positive thinking is better than pessimism, it's not a cure-all. A person's positive thinking is helpful insofar as he backs it up with positive DOING.
