just wait. this is going to turn into a terminator like scenario if this keeps going. it will be us vs. the machines. but that will take a long time to happen. at first they will do our petty work, take the places of human held jobs, and further hurt the economy. maybe one day robots will do all the work and be our slaves. but like i was saying, eventually they will get smart enough to wage war on us. hope they take out the elite first lol.
Imagine a robot making a human job. Human - no job, no money, life sucks, alternatives close to zero. Robot - has job, needs no money, doesn`t care.
Bravo, evolution, well done. And we care about ACTA, while this could be a much bigger problem.... somehow i miss the early times, where a solar calculator was THE must have product.
im not trying to be racist but if they arent asian robots, it doesnt look right (the eyes are too big on the western ones) and that makes no sense saying because asians obviously have smaller eyes. i guess im so used to anime that its..what the hell am i trying to say :| anyways, his eyes are too big and its scaring me LMAO
That's so cool, i wish i had a robot tht looked just like me so it can do everything for me, and go to school for me lol, thumbs up if you want a robot that looks just like you and will do anything for you.. :)
If you thought computer viruses and glitches were annoying, just think of how freaky it will be when somebody figures out how to put malicious software on to one of these.
No I wouldnt be comfortable leaving my kid in front of the tv or listening to a CD player all alone. Maybe for a very short time if there's no other way around it, but I wouldnt make a habit of it. They need REAL human interaction.
When he fires an employee, he ends up firefing his human counterpart, taking over his position. Then taking over his whole life, eventually eating his family.
I've never been impressed by any of these "actroids" or "gemenoids" or whatever bs name people come up with for their creepy hyper-realistic robots.
The movements of this robot would only be realistic if it were supposed to be afflicted with some kind of palsy, and slight paralysis of the face. Perhaps due to long-term botox use, which would also explain why it has perfectly smooth skin.
@RandomTask3000 These type of robots are not ment to replace real humans. These types of robots are built to further out understanding of robots and to push the limits of robotics engineering! These are robots moving and "talking" ! True, robots will never have motion as fluid as humans. But look how far humans have come technologically! It is truly AMAZING when you know how much work, knowledge and skill went into making this/these.
@tmanistheonlyme The difference between robots moving and humans moving, is that robots pre-calculate their movements and thus start and stop abruptly. Humans tend to use an heuristic approach that is like using dead reckoning as a feedback mechanism. The first time we do things, we start movements and if they are not fast enough, we make them faster, and then manage stopping them as well. We then learn those acceleration curves, and memorize and recreate them over and over, perfecting them.
@freedeanna The issue is the cause and effect evaluation that we also learn. We learn by messing things up. As an uncoordinated child, we knock things over, drop things, bump into things and generally are quite unable to get much done. Sometime near the age of 4, but sometimes as late as 6, we learn to "plan". Past, present and future become real. We use what we've learned, to plan what we are doing in the present to avoid something that we perceive could happen in the future.
@wondamaner That's right. There are robots that do just that - they begin by differentiating the objects in their field of view that they can control (their limbs) from ones they can't (the environment), and then the process of increasingly refined motor impulses works rather like that of a human infant, only in days instead of months. The kind of planning and prediction that you mention will all be fully implemented in robots, I'm fairly confident.
Guy on the left is the robot.

Sorry but as soon as that thing moves, it no longer looks realistic at all. It's also not a robot. It's an animatronic.

@wondamaner I agree, which is why I said that robots are not, and will never be as fluid in their motions as humans.
tmanistheonlyme 3 months ago
@wondamaner ...and since you can describe that process quite simply, programmers can add it to robots, if they haven't already done so.
