looks like a Cardisoma guanhumi to me. Also known as the Giant Land Crab.

I actually just ran into one one the other day. They can be found as far north as some parts of Florida. They're crazy little guys. Well, not really little at all.  Massive.

This is a blue land crab. They can grow very big as you see. They usually live in mangroves near rivers, lagoons and sea. This crab is not a salt water crab. They feed on anything, but they love to eat fruits. They are very delicious if you know how to prepare them, specially stewed or with rice.

They are edible. They are known in Trinidad And Tobago as land crabs. They do live pretty far inland sometimes we see them along the river hiking trails and they get pretty large.

Not all crabs live in the sea, infact some crabs dont even live in sea water, some live in rivers and lakes in fresh water and some live in forests. There are even crabs that live in the middle of the deset with no water. hope this was helpfull :-)

I'm from Belize, we get them a lot on the roads during the rainy season when their holes get flooded out. They're pests because they can actually give you a flat tire if you drive over them (of course, not always, but it happens).
