I have some rats that I rescued, 2 females and 3 males, and I don't have enough money to neuter and spay all of them (I'm 12) so I have to let them out separately.
@horselover8408 To be honest, if a vet would charge me under $100 (In Canada) I'd be worried that the vet wouldn't be doing a good job. My vet is tops when it comes to surgeries. I trust her completely and I know she is well worth the money I pay.
Hi, Just curious. Where did u get them and what are the tubes called that surround the cage, I have tried making some out of cardboard but they aren't very sturdy. How do you hang them up?
I'm pretty sure that your rats have a better life than most pet dogs! Since you just a few, it's sparked a few questions. lol
Are you a breeder? Do you rescue? And how do you prevent unwanted litters? I had rats years ago. One loved to sit on me as much as possible. My vet neutered him for me because he used to mark me with urine a lot. He stopped after that. :)
Are your rats litter trained

I have 12 females and 3 males, but I want more! My dream is to have a rat sanctuary thingy! I really love rats!
I have a male rat named Archie, too!
I have a geriatric cage with Margot and Violet
An older rat cage with Cassandra and Emmaline
A young girl cage with Roxy, Hasina, Panya, Naomi, and Jillian.
A boy cage with Dewey and Archie
And Jermaine is by himself for reasons.
I hope to make a video soon!

That's ok... as long as you are extremely careful for them to never meet, it would be such a shame if they were to accidentally breed.

how much is it to spayed rats?
RuskayaKukla3 3 years ago
I live in northern Ontario. My exotic vet charges $250 per spay.
jorats 3 years ago
@jorats WOW. Someone told me it could cost 50 bucks. And if they charge more then 100 they're over charging you!

Hi! No, I'm not a breeder, I rescue. All my females are spayed mainly because it gives them a huge health benefit of preventing mammary tumours.
Also, rats are super social animals and they really do need to live in pairs or more. They are quite happy in big colonies as well. :)

That's absolutely wonderful! I enjoyed your videos.
