Comparing Lata to Reshma is like comparing a rose to a gardenia - they have their own beauty and fragrance but one cannot exactly replace the other. Both the singers are a blessing to our countries and we should savor their voices.

As for the song, yes, the tune is the same and the opening line has the same words, but rest of the song is quite different and both versions convey much heartfelt sentiments. It is not copying; it's complimenting!!

This is a movie song. Lata had no control over which language to sing it in. And how should she have acknowledged Reshma? It was a movie song.

Reshma's version is truly amazing. But even as a Punjabi, I prefer Lata's version.
