  • why do half of all brittish Piop singers take on Mick Jaegger mannerusms?

  • @mjlew01 cos Mick Jagger's a LEGEND!!!

  • britpop scene this song

  • @cjstroked This was YEARS before britpop!

  • @Ciaradexy brit pop started in 95 and this song was released in 95 and its not mancester scene because that ended around 94

  • @cjstroked That doesnt make a band who have been going since 89 and were part of Madchester all of a sudden Britpop! The stone Roses are releasing an album next year does this make them whatever is gonna be the big genre then? No, I dont think so.

  • @Ciaradexy this song song sounds more like oasis who where britpop, it doesnt sound like madchester at all, just saying theyve moved on just like most of the madchester bands and lots of other bands in othe genres of music

  • @cjstroked Madchester is Madchester, britpop is britpop which is an evolution of the style BUT not all britpop is from Manchester!!! Madchester are a collection of incredible bands all spawned out of the scene there which went on to influence many others all over the country. Madchester hasn't ended, The Stone Roses are coming!!!

  • @AoifeB82 yes mate!! are you going to see them?

  • @cjstroked Sure am! can't wait so excited, heading from Ireland to see them in Madchester!!! you?

  • @cjstroked The Charlatans were way before brit pop

  • @AoifeB82 yes i know that but this song is brit pop they even look like oasis

  • @cjstroked How can a band who were around 4 years before Definitely Maybe look like Oasis? Did ya ever think that bands like Oasis and the Brit Pop bands that came around that time had madchester bands like the Charlatans as their influences so they sounded a bit like them and they looked a bit like them?

  • @Ciaradexy you do realize bands move on. the charlatans moved fro madchester to brit pop

  • @cjstroked You obviously dont know your music.

  • @Ciaradexy i obviously do, the charlatans moved on to britpop ask anyone who knows good music

  • @cjstroked or Oasis look like them!? ; )

  • god their all ugly!

  • @rainxxxx Its 'They are or They're' not 'Their'.

  • thegoodteacher(dot)com

  • NICE TEETH THO HAHA VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!TWICE A DAY SAID MUM LOL ;¬D

  • YEP GALLAGHER BANDWAGON!!!!

  • @gemmad4it

    Charlatans were before Oasis....

  • How can you mention travis alongside indie's giants?

  • Tim would of been a great male model with that cheeky grin:)

  • the charlatans,oasis,the stone roses,travis = proper music

  • @delboy20091 , inspiral carpets, charlatans. fuck coldplay.

  • @bohsblur

i only like 2-3 coldplay tracks they do fall into a different category to the others.I've never listened to the inspoiral carpets though, also the verve were a good band.

  • @delboy20091 Travis?? what a loada shit!

  • rip rob collins

  • @homeaway99 I remember the day he died. I sobbed!

  • charlatans and inspiral carpets were

    madchesters survivors.

    still love em both.

  • @bohsblur I think youll find that the term Baggy or madchster survivors is one of the worst things you can call the Charlatans. Theyve said it themselves. its just lazy journalism. They werent even from Manchester!

  • is it me or tim looks exactly like richard dean anderson from sg1 i mean with that hat

  • charlatans longetive owns all especially those yuppies oasis liam sucks anyway that crap voice he has, overall oasis are nobody's if it wasn't for the charlatans

  • ah' man this song owns love that beatles melody

  • kenboon1 - i never noticed that before! The Challies for ever x

  • it's a high it's a rush!

  • TTTUUUNNNEEE!!!

  • Why do peole always bring liam gallagher and ian brown into charlatans arguements? Were the roses crashed and burned, the Charlatans were still massive 12 years later even though theywere around at the same time.. Were are oasis now too? Doing john lennon covers minus the other thievin twat playing to audiences who are only there because they think the indie universe starts and ends with oasis? It winds me up. Give me Some friendly anyday of the week!

  • @shamuscolemanfanclub What your saying about people thinking the indie universe starts and ends with oasis, you're kinda saying that about the charlatans. For me, if it's good Britpop/indie/mod, then yeah i'll listen to it, if i like it. Oasis and Stone Roses just happen to be two very good bands, and i like what they do/did, it doesn't matter if they're not around anymore, just the same as The Beatles aren't around anymore. It's only Rock 'N' Roll man. :)

  • @ADAMROCKS5 Youve missed my point entirely. It wasn't about who was still around , I like the roses as much as the next man,it was about respect and the fact that Charlatans deserve more respect for what theyve done but never get it. This is down to people like those oasis twats who believe their is no one better than their precious mancs when really they just a fraud. Ive seen oasis live twice, once at slane castle in front of 115,000 and they were a huge fucking letdown. They were crap.

  • @shamuscolemanfanclub I see what your saying, but you shouldn't scrutinise Oasis. They are liked for a reason. People as a whole just seem to connect with them a bit more. People are still gonna listen to The Charlatans you know, if they're into this genre, but don't take away Oasis and Stone Roses thunder. They earned what they got, and people still talk about them and remember them 'cause they were great.

  • @shamuscolemanfanclub Saw Oasis in 94 in the Tivoli, they were amazing but anything after definitely maybe was utter crap.

  • @shamuscolemanfanclub I completely agree! Some Friendly was amazing when i was a kid, its even more so now.

  • Charlatans rule!

  • melody for chorus is taken directly from a John Lennon song

  • @jamesmackie202 Which is ? :)

  • seconds only to the inspiral carpets.

    moooooooo!

  • @bohsblur

    Equal!

  • Tim is just magic in this video - I could watch it over and over again.

  • in Manc slang you'd say Tim's wearing a "top" hat :D

  • 1:10 - if Mick Jagger shagged The Joker, this is what the kid would look like!!! Sorry Tim, im sure its just the lighting!!!

  • @bigderekkeene then what do you call the guy from Supergrass?

  • Class song.

  • Fair doo to tim, he said his favorite lennon song was "bring on the lucie freeda people", and no wonder it's moreorless the same song, nice 1 tim you beat noel gallager to rip off a beatle song before he did. Peace and quiet!

  • @sje20 lennon was a commie faggot! Please don't forget this!

  • @TheMJtheGOD i love the way people use ''commie'' as if its a bad thing to be one. Communism is one of the greatest ideas mankind has ever came up with in many respects Its downfall is it requires human beings with all their flaws to carry it out

  • @bigderekkeene yeah it works in theory but you get cunts like stalin and the like so it can never work maybe i a hundred years when we grow up it could work, i wuold like to think so

  • @TheMJtheGOD Please dont use the term faggot. Its a disgusting word.

  • brookesy great time down the pub with my dad and him

  • i love this song but the video doesn't fit the feeling of this album at all.

  • @espsummer Really? I think it fits superbly. So does the "Just When You're Thinking Things Over" one, which feels and sounds a bit "Big Chill".

  • @espsummer. Totally agree.

  • Liam Gallagher was a straight up Ian Brown copy. But gotta say the guy is a dude though. I love this tune!! Tim Burgess is one of the most under-rated frontmen ever. Look at the stuff he's done since indian rope..Quality!!!

  • Freaking top tunage!!!!

  • This song at around 1:15 and for awhile going on remind me of Bring On Lucie (Freda People) by John Lennon. Just the vocal melody

  • How did they manage to jump on the Manchester bandwagon, when they are clearly from Cheshire???

  • @brighton59 well..northwich is a shit n a shave from manchester and liverpool ,cheshire lads in my experience sound and act more scouse ...you got to give it tim and the lads for goin the right way

  • @brighton59 Tim grew up in Cheshire. Martin, Tony and Jon are from the Black Country around Birmingham. The only manc is mark but Tim was born in Salford so theyre not from Manchester or Cheshire. 3/5 are from the Midlands!

  • Fckn awesome, bring back the 90's :)

  • Old school indie still rocks!!

  • awesome underrated band, 'indie' kids these days really don't know what they're missing, this is real music, forget about bloc party and the rest of the pretentious shite they listen too

  • @harrison691 thumbs up for that.Bring back the brit pop!

  • CW9 NORTHWICH!!!!

  • I am sad because some people talk bull shit... and also because in my country there isn't so much people who know the charlatans,, and that is super sad, they are really amazing and merit a little of respect

  • @juani0villanos what country are you from my friend? Charlants forever

  • I am from Argentina, I guess we are less than 500 fans :P

And this is a BIG country for so little bit fans

  • that gets a big thumbs up from me matey

  • Thanks :)

  • Mad for it...!!!!

  • Roses and charlatans - have the best music

  • GREAT comment inspiralroses..

    Feel the same also.

  • Stop comparing cool bands. It's an insult to every one of them. If beauty hurts, then each one of them has killed me.

  • But if it weren't for these guys you wouoldn't have oasis, so shut up.

  • my thoughts exactly!

  • Comment removed

  • below!!!! what a cunt!!! american no doubt

  • and you my friend r just a stupid schmuck ... not sure if thats how u spell it but i hear its quite an insult in yanktalk...in uk talk your a knobhead twat , so go back to your trailerpark and abuse yourself!!

  • Oh yeah, and biggup to Hillside Village

  • RIP Rob Collins

  • oasis would love to smell the charlatans shit stained tighty whities & feel honored doing it.

  • the charlatans are unreal and tim is one of the coolest front men ever, but there is no denying he is a nock off ian brown

  • ian brown wishes pal.........tim aint no monkey

  • oasis my ARSE..

  • WHOA !!!! soz andy gray looks lyk ur the main man u realy know ur shit u fukin dude !!

  • I think whilst the rest of us were watching cartoons when we were growing up, Liam Gallagher was Tim Burgess videos!!!

  • and im assumin tim was watchin ian brown videos?????? as great a band as the charlatans arei think maybe tim burgess should have watched some liam gallagher videos because he is and always was what a frontman is all about.....no one but NO ONE could get a crowd goin like he could just by standing there and doin fuck all

  • @TR1PACE5 yeah cos standing on stage cursing, staring at Liam Gallagher clones and not moving is really cool.

  • @kenboon1 Ironic...2 years AFTER oasis were founded, burgess is trying his hardest to look just like Liam in this video.

  • @hypercatjohn Tim smiles in videos, something Liam NEVER did.

  • @kenboon1 are you fuckin kidding me?? its tim who is trying to act like Liam here. Burgess was just a shoegazer before Oasis got massive, check his earlier vids, he had zero swagger. He looks like such a fake nob in this vid.

Great vids, but Burgess has never had a tenth of the charisma Liam did.

Charlatan fans will all disagree, but the other 99% of music fans wont.

  • @StyleSessions

    Holy fuck

  • @StyleSessions Liam is a charisma void. he stands still, arms behind his back, snarling! Tim gets into the music, he dances, he smiles, he involves the audience. ive been to over 50 charlatans gigs in the past 22 years and Burgess is AMAZING!

  • @kenboon1

    Or MicK Jagger

  • ere i fukin love the charlatans but i also love oasis so just chill out the gallaghers they r talented !!

  • the charlatans r a wicked band tims got a gd voice and oasis r gr8 think there both fuckin ace bands

  • TOM HINGLEY is GOD.. inspirals and

    charlies are legends...

  • well Ian Brown from the stone roses too.....but fuck they were inpirational......like the inspiral carpets you dont hear much tom hingley.....seen him live what a guy emense

  • tim burgess the original indie god...........hey hey and fuck all your negative comments

  • why does everyone down oasis when it comes to the charlatans? i'm not saying they're better than the charlatans but they're still a great band

  • what a band !! awesome , oasis couldnt hold a candle to tims boys!!!

  • This is Beautiful

  • amazing tune ...amazing band !!!! you got to love um

  • my fav song of all time! fuckin love it!!!

  • awesome band

  • I remember skipping past the Gates at one of the 1st T in the Parks with my mate, and when we got to the Main Stage the Charlie's were just starting this tune, couldn't believe our fekkin luck.......awesome.

  • Was that the first year in Kinross? Cause they sounded shite!!

  • Who needs "Oasis"? .-)

  • everyone should need oasis.

honestly just found out about this band like 15 mins ago after watching Jumper and hearing their song in it. and i think they're class. why aren't they better known??

  • charlatans are respected (by people who know music )more than oasis who are plain awful now! early charlatans till 97 tellin stories was some of the best music ever written mate! give it a listen!!!remember after 97 they are not good!!

  • fair enough but i have to disagree with oasis being awful now.

was at slane castle to see them on saturday and it was amazing. 80,000 people there singing every song! Kasabian were brilliant too!

  • Kasabian don't deserve to lick the shit of Tims boots.

Modern Oasis are just drivel, they went downhil after the first half of Def Maybe.

  • Just cuz you're a hardcore charlatans fan doesn't mean you can't appreciate other bands.

Morning Glory is the third highest selling album of all time in britain behind queen's greatest hits and the beatles. And oasis are still one of the biggest bands in the world.

  • Who gives a fuck!? And who said im a hardcore Charlatans fan. Prick

  • @frogface010 Susan Boyle and westlifes albums sell millions. It just goes to show that the public are idiots.

  • All wrong. Kasabian deserve to lick shit of their boots. Big ginger smelly runny rotweiler shit with flies on.

  • @happentodie Exactly! Oasis are for people who arent really into music. Charlatans are for people who know. We just know!

  • Comment removed

  • who ? :)

  • Burgees looks about 12 in this video

  • Cool As Fuck ! ! !

  • this song is fucking brillliant!

  • this was the only song on the bus we had on a trip to london to see the who in 1995,it must have played 50 times from scotland to london ,still love it....

  • No soy inglesa, pero estoy estudiando Inglés. Hablo español. Y aunque no lo creas, el español es más díficil de aprender

  • He looks like Liam Gallagher

  • No Liam Gallagher looks like him as Tim and the Charlatans were around about 7 or 8 years before Oasis. They were part of the original Madchester thing along with The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays. And prior to them New Order, although I never rated them so much,or for that matter Joy Division. But as the Stranglers once said(and sang)everybody loves you when you're dead. There's always legends about early achievers who die young and never fulfill their potential,or become jaded.

  • He remember me to Liam Gallagher!

  • your obviously not english

  • the meanings clear - why feel the need to draw attention to it?

  • it should be spelt 'you're' dumbfcuk...that is all

  • this is what u call music not like some of the crap that is out today

  • are these guys pre oasis then

  • i'm sure i've heard john lennon sing this song!!??!!

  • your right ;)

  • do know what song it was or where I might have heard it?

  • Comment removed

  • i started the riots...rok on

  • miss the nineties, life was so good back then.now its shit, and bands like artic monkeys make it even worse

  • i hear ya mate.

  • he really doesnt care what you think :P

  • what a band !! they piss on oasis ,no comparison,so dont bother ,original baggy scenesters like the roses ,carpets, mondays, proper music with an arrogant swagger great days ,i just cant listen to new bands ,other than kasabian, its all as liam said " your musics shite it keeps me up all night"

  • lol piss off

  • i was an oasis fan before definitly maybe was released, and a charlatans fan before some friendly was released ,i was at spike island, i danced at the hacienda .and a roses fan first, trust me paddy ! i know what im talking about, they all copied the roses ,every fucker know that ,but tim was there in 90 ,oasis didnt realease anything till 94 , noel roadied for the carpets back then , if you think oasis are more credible than the charlatans then your a philistine sorry pal ,

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee gooo rich!!!

  • What is copied from the Stone Roses? The bands are totally different.

  • I 100% agree with you brother!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks mate , you obviously know your music!!!!

  • shame they are compared with the roses as

i think they are so unique. burgess has a

swagger unlike ian browns or gallaghers.

between 10th and 11th is the best sound

to emerge from the madchester scene, and

very few people got it.. my favourite band

after the inspiral carpets, and we are so so

lucky to have them. god bless you tim and

    the lads!

  • The Charlatans have so many great songs. The way these guys played together ( especially Rob Collins and Martin Blunt ) is magic.

Watching the vids, though, there's something about Tim Burgess I don't like. Noel Gallagher, who tries to come off as arrogant, actually seems more honest. Anyone who is that famous, is going to have an ego -- it would be fake to hide it. But Burgess' easygoing, smiley persona is just creepy. He must be the real Cheshire Cat.

  • I heard Tim being interviewed by Mark Lamarr. He came across as a good bloke, but also as somewhat diffident. There's nothing fake about him. In fact, if he'd played the truculent tosser, like Ian Brown and the Gallaghers, The Charlatans might well have been a bigger band than they are. The youngsters like all that shit, so I'm told.

  • @LoneConformist Burgess is one of the nicest people youll ever meet. Hes very shy but hes very honest and open.

  • i love this tune
