Hi, I've just posted a video with th 3870x2 at 100%. Similar kind of fan noise. ow do you get round it? I using Rivatuner to adjust the fan speed otherwise it is set to auto and it defaults to '0'. I have currently set it to 40% and the noise Vs Temperature ratio seems bearable. Thanks for the video, I am sure many have burnt their GPUs due to this fan controler issue
I got Asus HD3870x2 myself, and when I booted up my new computer for the first time, I was like: "what the fuuuuck is that noise?". But I can now see on your video (It looks like the Asus version?) that the asus version of 3870x2 makes a hell of a noise when it's on 100%. I got rivatuner myself, but when I boost up a game, its like a hoover again. bah! I wish I didnt bought the asus version :( Nice vid!
Btw, got 4gig ram, but my vista ultimate 64 (pirated) sais its only 2.5gig?!
and the RAM isnt defect eather, tried one by one (got 2x2gig) and when I put in only one it sais its 2gig, but when I put in both it sais 2.5gig. Is it the pirated vista ultimate 64 bit or what? :(
last problem, i THINK that only one prosessor unit is running at my 3870x2 even if CrossFireX is activated, because any program from GPU-Z to SmartCooler have problems to detect the second prosessor and it seems to be a litle bit cooler then the other prosessor. Do i have to active anything or flash the bios or something or is it ok? My mainboard is Asus Commando Intel® P965 and I have 750W power supply with 8 pin and 6 pin hooked up on the GPU..
I noticed that's problem since the x1800 ...the fan design are based on the same bleu print then a hoover . it is a very good fan and a 100% speed can take any eat and cool down any card ...BUT WHAT THE HELL ABOUT THE NOISE ...i was thinking they will change the design since the x1800 but no.
So yes too noisy , at that's moment better to custom watercooler or install 2 single cooper and bullet rifle fan on it , it will make 70% less noise for sure . nice video dude!!
plus the width between cards is not up to me, it's the mainboard fabricator who decides how close cards should be. Or actually the PCI-e 2.0 standard describes it.
dude thats like my vacuum cleaner

hi what software do you use to adjust fan speed? mines running at about 59-69 with 9 fans in the case :S

I used RivaTuner with some registry edit so it works on the 3870x2's. If you google 'Rivatuner 3870x2' you should find it.

ok thx is it any better on crossfire next week i should have another 3870x2 to crossfire :)

depends on your cpu, a quadcore will give it more power to shine and an overclock too.

ok yeah i have AMD 9850 quad core black edition

If you mean one card, you don't have to do anything to enable the second gpu.
If you have 2 cards it will be different.

And it's loud because I SET THE FAN on 100%. It won't do that by itself, ever.

They are noisy at 100% but if you had the side panel that would be bearable i think?
VirtuallyInfamous 3 years ago
nah man, currently i have a single 3870, and at 100% with case fan on it is still so loud...
