WaterFurnace Channel: What about what the EPA called the "most energy efficient, environmentally clean, and cost-effective" systems available. Geothermal heat pumps burn no fossil fuels, are 5 times more efficient than gas furnaces, and reduce utility bills up to 70%.
It's equal to planting 750 trees or taking 2 cars off the road...forever. If 10% of California goes geo, the energy saved equals the output of 9 power plants! Geo could have a huge impact on the environment and dependence on oil.

I would love to see a RonPaul/Mike Gravel ticket. Interesting.
I would only vote for Ron Paul, or Mike Gravel. I could care less about left or right. I care about honesty. I dont have to agree with my president, but I have to trust him.
Dont be a sheeple, and learn about the candidates. John Edwards is a big phony.
Odd...many academics on private campuses say the warming's overhyped; many working for the IPCC or US govt (their source for grants/salaries) are the ones scaring us into accepting "global warming taxes"? The 1000s of scientists cited mostly come from the UN (which even liberals admit is very corrupt and useless) Before panicking, let's just make sure these elites don't have waterfront homes subject to rising tides.
when I was a kid (50s) we were headed into an ice age because pollution was reflecting sunlight back into space. how can you believe people that can''t get it right about tomorrow let alone 100 years from now. get real.
Very ambitious - just the kind of big thinking that we need. Even if global warming isn't an imminent threat, all the other benefits of energy efficiency and energy independence FAR FAR FAR outweigh the costs.
It will create thousands and thousands of jobs, too. If you spend $10billion to reduce emissions, where do you think that's going? To the people who are employed in various emission reduction industries!!!!!
Hey John Edwards...I'm a psychic, and i've been proven accurate 98.5% of the time. Guess what John, YOU WILL NOT NOT NOT be the 44th President of the U.S.A. ~ You are far too liberal for the Average American. If Liberalism cant win in a left-leaning country like France, it's not winning in the U.S.A. ...and if you dont see the parallels present between France's elections and our upcoming elections, than you are intellectually dishonest. Go take care of your wife, you are wasting your time.
France voted "Right" (which doesn't mean much in a socialist country) b/c it's experiencing a natural decline as its economy is being linked to that of low-GDP EU countries. It's the same reason that we're losing jobs to Mexico: these stupid trade agreements. France won't be getting any better under Sarkozy either; the French voted the way they did cuz they're desperate to stop their inevitable decay, as is happening to Holland, Germany, etc.
John Edwards, if you really cared about Global Warming you could:
1) Sell one of your four mansions.
2) Stop polluting the air by traveling in your private jets.
Also, this carbon-neutral crap is crap.
3) Global warming is just another way for Liberals to take away your freedom and your money, while they live like kings and suckers like you live in huts.
4) There is a sucker born every day, and most of them are Liberal.
If what we are doing as humans is having little affect, what good can we do...how can we even reverse it. It is bigger than all of human life. I say buy more V8 vehicles, burn up all the fossil fuels, and then we can start using ethanol as fuel.
Get off of the global warming topic. This is a nonissue. Humans have put less than 1% of the amount of green house gasses into the atmosphere than have occured naturally over the life of the planet. One major volcanic eruption puts more green house gasses into the atmosphere than what Humans have their entire existance on the planet. Get over it already.
Yeah, but reducing carbon monoxide emissions will have little effect. So, why bother. Let's spend the taxes on something that will make a difference, like, say, the military. Pres. Bush is awesome!
more crap, the scientific consensus is that humans are the primary cause, only people on the fringes believe otherwise. The effects of global warming are enough to wipe out nearly all human life, it should be issue number one
Actually...if we all want to be honest here, all the research is inconcusive. Both opinions are not well founded regardless of how you beleive. Face it...your wrong.
you are not being honest, there is 90% certainty that it's man made. What are you saying is inconclusive by the way? The Earth IS heating up, we ARE 90% sure it's man made
That kind of backward thinking is NOT what made this country great. Why bother going to the moon? let's spend the taxes in military... Why bother finding new sources of energy? lets sped the taxes the military... progress sometimes is good my friend.
