I'm sorry to tell you that it's not fake. well at least, I can assure you that people really hunt snakes like that in cameroon and some other countries in the south. I'm from africa, and in the part I lived people used to practice this. I've actually witnessed a catch like this not far from the trail I used to take to go to my school. the liquid they put on their legs is a very smelly oil that attract the snakes.
