  • I do not understand why motorola xoom has best screen. Because its glossy? I preffer a screen like adam that does not reflects and does not make you blind on sunlight.

  • very boring to listen

  • u idiot jerk.. pixel qi is much better than lcd... r u blind cant u seee the difference..!!! dumb looser

  • biased towards xoom... notion ink adam ROCKS :D

  • this guy is so obsessed with xoom

when he said that tft is a better display than pixel qi i shut the vid off!!!!

  • their is a big price difference!

  • How do you switch between the Eden UI and the Froyo/honeycomb UI?

  • @tarunpai (months later, I know) But he is using ADW Launcher, you can tell from the App Launcher icon.

  • Got an invite for buying the Adam, the email says there will be an upgrade to honeycomb as well as an upgrade on the Eden UI, The honeycomb will receive an upgrade to the SD card sometime soon ! so that is not the issue !

  • IPAD 2 IS THE BEST!! jk lol my dad HAD one....

  • How does the atom have better sound when you turn them both on and cant even hear it?

  • Xoom is so so so much better and beautifull.. Adam is a piece of shit

  • the main advantage of the adam wasn't even shown. use the Qi screen, go out into bright daylight and try to use either tablet.... reading on the Adam in bright sunlight is fun yet impossible to do so on xoom

  • hello i have a question, how is reading on adam in e ink mod , the eyes doesn't tired, becouse on i pad ather 30 min my eyes tired, plese respond me, my email is cantorca@rambler.ru

  • what is the actual release date of the ADAM?

  • ADAM all the way!

  • So which one would you recommend to someone who is wanting to bu a tablet?

  • @imthadawg if you really want a tablet right now, i would highly recommend a honeycomb tablet. Xoom wifi or Samsung Tab 10.1

  • @imthadawg

You should wait for the ADAM to be fully developed.

  • Is the 11% and the 54% under the date (year) the tablets batterylife ? if so, its funny cause you said that the Xoom has a better batterylife and it drained by 2%, while the Adam didnt x) nice vid though, but i still cant make up my mind wich one to buy >.<

  • @TRDanaa the adam was on AC power the entire time as you can see when the power cord comes out @ 1:40

  • This guy does not know how to make a review. And he's too slow

  • THE NOTION LOOKS LIKE A PIECE OF CRAP LOL THERE MIGHT NOT BE A WAY TO MOVE APPS TO SD CARD ON THE XOOM CAUSE THE SD CARD SLOT HAS NOT BEEN ENABLED YET. BEING A DEVELOPERS DEVICE ITS STILL BEING UPDATED AND PERFECTED. THAT FEATURE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE SOON

  • @sirdarkmonday why are you YELLING!

  • @sirdarkmonday

And the Adam is not perfected either, idiot.

  • Notion ink released the adam way too late to be relevant. It looks obsolete next to the xoom.

  • @DeleeP

You're kidding, right? Do you know that the ADAM runs faster than the Xoom? Its not even using an os optimized for tablets.

  • @wiigamer136 I'm not kidding at all. The reason the Adam runs SLIGHTLY faster is because of the screen resolution being lower so it has less pixels to process. It is also running froyo which is a simpler os designed for phones. Everything looks inferior... The screen, design, the os (eden skin), battery life, and clunky form factor. I would have jumped on the adam back in 2010 when it was supposed to be released. Now with the likes of the xoom, galaxy tab 10.1 and , lg slate, adam is old news.

  • @DeleeP

lol, Notion ink adam is going to run Honeycomb by the way. Dude, i'm sure that the battery life is longer with the ADAM. It is 16 hours. Also, it costs as much as a netbook. Only $375. The Xoom costs $800.

Anyways, to many people it does not look inferior. Many people love it.

We all have different opinions :)

  • @wiigamer136

the battery life was tested on engadget. with brightness all the way down it only got 7 hours of battery life.

  • @boomguy12345

lol, I read that Engadget review recently. I'm pretty sure that something is wrong with their tablet. My friend's gets 10 hours.

  • @wiigamer136

scuse me, made a typo. with backlight TURNED OFF it only got 8 hours video playback. ur probably experiencing 10 hours of battery life when doing light web browising. their battery test is video playback. the ipad 2 is the winner with 10 hours and 33 minutes

  • I'm about to give up...where do you get the Adam? I can't seem to find it. Has it not actually been released yet? Because there sure are a lot of videos on the Adam for a product that hasn't been released :(

  • @matrix86 go to notionink@com and contact them by e-mail to add yourself to the pre-order list. they're trying their best to keep up with the demand

  • @Inspiron41 Awesome. Thanks. I thought these would be out on online retailers. Out of all the tech stuff I show interest in, only once has anything only been accessible strictly by contacting the manufacturer...not used to having to do that, lol. I just learned, however, that this company is basically in its infancy, which makes sense as to why they're having trouble keeping up with demand and currently unable to ship out to retailers.

  • @matrix86

They are not 100% done yet with the development of it. In the summer, they are doing a full release.

  • @matrix86 I use my ADAM already for almost a year, I was one of the first owners in Europe and I'm still flashed with it's functionality, esspecially outside in bright sunlight it's Pixel QI-display is overwhelming crisp... still waiting for the official Honeycomb-update from Notion Ink- then it will be perfect...

  • 1. Where can I find your background

    2. How did you get the "clockmod" with date and time and charging status. I already use ADS Launcher.

    Thx

  • @Trautermann it's a live wallpaper - "Simply Clock Live Wallpaper"

  • @Inspiron41

How is the ADAM improving? Is it getting better every day?

    Please answer.

    Thanks,

    wiigamer136

  • Have you run any benchmarks on these two tabs? I would love to see how their graphical and productivity scores compare.

  • Nice thanks for info

  • Two garbage tablets battle it out! Awesome.

  • @christschool define "garbage". Both seem capable to me.

  • @christschool Like the smartphone revolution, these Android Tablets are already influencing many other tablet design including Apple. If anything, Android is more about "Choice"...and my choice alone

  • Does the Adam support SDXCards? Will Honeycomb support this format in the future?

  • @Sport4Life Adam does not have a SDX card reader. only a microSD card. Idk if the usb can be used with SDX card reader though

  • When it comes to price there is no comparison. Notion Ink does NOT require a data plan...it does, however, have user replaceable battery and a lot more connector ports.

  • Where did you get that wallpaper with clock date and battery percentage?

  • @aznmystyk "Simply Clock Live Wallpaper". You can also configure the clock, date or battery level to activate whatever program you wish too

  • Done. THis is EXACTLY what i needed to know, been searching foreverfor info on sound/screen and you young sir have done it.

    Thank You.

  • @MrKfou i hope you enjoy it! let me know if you want to see anything specific in comparison between adam and xoom

  • I was waiting for the PixelQi mode which never came. But a good review nonetheless. Hope you come out a few more.

  • Hello, thank you for the comparison. Can you show the displays difference in sunligth, please?

    :)

  • The notion ink is getting honeycomb, can you review that again then?

  • can you please show the camera quality of both tablets ...........

  • @swapneelkhandare excellent request, will do

  • Thanks for the comparison. The UI of the Xoom looks a bit laggy when moving the home panel. Guess the OS needs some more optimization.

  • @27Loco there was another possible explanation - unoptimized application. it might be the Live Wallpaper that i'm using. they just released a small update. every day there's an application being updated for Honeycomb and the experience is just better i have to say.

  • @sitedeballer

Your english isn't any better, so zip it.

  • @sitedeballer And this is from a French Guy?

  • @Inspiron41 Back to school dude ! Learn to say M-o-t-o-r-o-l-a X-o-o-m !

  • @Inspiron41 A mad French guy. I think they lost too many wars

  • @sitedeballer stfu you dumbass.

  • @saquibs20 You too, son o f...

  • @sitedeballer merci de bien nous foutre la honte...

  • Comment removed

  • wow..the Xoom is so much reflective I can replace my mirror with it...

  • I would also note that it would be easier to say users would want a Xoom but due to the price would like a cheaper alternate which is other Android tablets but the USB port option is nice which Xoom users will love..... that's right think about it

  • I would wait a month and get the wifi only Xoom for $600

  • does the notion ink adam have an android market?

  • @onewajid After rooting, yes. Rooting only takes 5 minutes.

  • great job really. Better than some of the main android fan sites out there. As far as Xoom not having the ability to install on SD card, I believe that is coming in an update. Currently as far as I understand it, the Xoom does not have software functionality for SD cards, but will be upgraded shortly. How do the tablets compare hardware wise? I heard the Adam was not put together well.

  • You mentioned that the Xoom wins in battery life while idling.

Did you ever test just how long it can last, both standby and under heavy use (such as playing back video files)? Playing the same video file, how long do both devices last for you?

  • @admiralteal excellent question. and yes i have tried to look into that. unfortunately the same player (mVideoplayer) that i used for Adam test doesnt decode the video format at the hardware level. SO for me to play it back in Xoom, i'll need a software decoder app like QQplayer. Software decoding utilize more CPU power, so it won't be a like for like test though. unfortunately QQplayer will not fix the battery level while playback :(

  • great video man, keep it up!

  • Sooo is motorola xoom better?

  • @Jokerk1d as of now, i think the xoom because of the Honeycomb interface. But if you're concerned about pricing, the Adam is the way to go. Both tablets are pretty strong, but it depends how much you want to spend.

  • Props for using PowerAmp

  • @DawnOfEos I love PowerAmp

  • @Inspiron41 Me too, it really gives android devices a good music app. As a budding audiophile, I am always pleasantly surprised how good the Evo + power amp sounds in comparison to my S:Flo 2. The S:Flo 2 is definitely better, but PowerAmp really closes the gap quite a bit! (also it has the best equalizer on a mobile device imo)

  • its good to see that both tablets are pretty even in their functions. I guess it would all come down to personal preference. The adam for hackers hardcore users and the xoom for the casual/other etc im getting the adam sometime this week yay, but what sold me with the adam was just the ports and its open interface. but yea anyways if i hadnt heard of the adam i would have definitely gotten the xoom ^_^ win-win for me.

  • The bottom line is the top model Notion Ink Adam costs $549 (plus $50 shipping). So for $600 you get all the features of the Xoom PLUS Pixel Qi tech. How much does the top Xoom model cost?

  • @pacus123 $600-800 depending on contract.

  • Thank you for providing this video. I like the Adam but I have to say the Xoom just comes off being a few notched better.

  • Adam rules! Xoom is hugely overpriced for the performance it offers, which is matched or outdone by Adam in most cases......

  • Very good review, thanks! But you forgot to mention that the Adam has the black and white reflective mode.

  • @n33oh yes i notice that, but i trying to compare the color mode of Pixel Qi to LCD of motorola.

  • Great comparison. I have both tablets and although the Xoom is slicker runctionality on the Adam kills it.

BTW - What ROM are you using in the demo video you created. Thanks.

  • @jtrinh220 EdenX 2.01

  • aw, why is Adam connected to power cable =[

  • @amaslkw low on power when i made the video~~

  • @Inspiron41 no problems :) just kinda worried about the battery life of Adam...waiting my one to be shipped, got so many people chatting on how bad or how good it is.. how long does ur Adam sustain? moderate to heavy use..?

  • @amaslkw with cellular hack, it can last through a whole day. perhaps better than most smartphones out there. watching movies will certainly drain your batteries faster of course, but with moderate or light use i can get through a whole day and still show 55-68% battery life left.

  • @Inspiron41 cool :) love to hav such a nice battery life. sorry to keep bothering since its' hard to find someone to reply me so quickly >< do u hav the standby problem ( can't put Adam back on after putting it to sleep mode and needa reboot? ) thanks a lot :)

i can't wait to hav my adam, two more days to the 3/3 estimated shipping date

  • @amaslkw i dont have that problem. but i do notice that you can unlock it by hitting the "back" button

  • Would have liked to see the Pixel Qi display without backlight vs Xoom with a book or comic book open.

Ink has a horrible looking bezel the matte finish and pixel qi display would be the deal makers or breakers for me.

Either way good vid thanks for the UL.

  • What's the name of this date widget?

    Thanks!

  • @MrSynths Simply Clock Live Wall paper

  • The Adams weak point is the 16:9 display, its just not a good format for reading.

  • thx for the comparison...

As always with the comparison from you great job

Looking forward for my Adam to come

    :)

  • i dont get it .. adam is 10.1 inch same as xoom why there is a deferent in the real size?

  • Great video! I added it to my post on notioninkfan. I hope that is okay with you... --Greg

  • @NotionInkFan no problem greg! :)

  • I think it is very important to take all aspects into consideration when deciding on a tablet. Adam clearly stands out in terms of its expandability feature set, external sd card, keyboard mice attachements, HDMI etc. Also if you were to do a true comparision, look at at it from a price to feature ratio and clearly Adam is a winner there in terms of h/w atleast where things stand right now. $475 (shipped) Wifi + 3G LCD vs $800 for Xoom? That says something right there. Go Adam!

  • Xoom looks laggy. Adam RULES!

  • nice comparison, will be better when we can compare Adam once it has honeycomb

  • I hope Adam gets Honeycomb. It's look like an oversized android phone.

  • XOOM

  • Kam,

how did you set live wall paper?

i am only seeing optiin to set normal wall paper.

  • @skyt1 root adam to EDENx

  • @skyt1 long press the screen and head over to wallpapers. you should see three options - Gallery, Live Wallpaper and Wallpaper

  • why do you dont use the same track for the sound test ?

  • @Flatos90 i didnt have time to get to do that

  • Kam,

Can you let me know home screen/launcher that you used on Adam? Is it ADW launcher? some how i got confused because ADW launcher i loaded looked different.. thanks for your help..

  • @skyt1 Yes, it's ADWlauncher. just gotta play with the settings till you get it how you like it

  • Comment removed

  • hey, plz make a vid about the video editing software in honeycomb. thanks

  • Comment removed

  • I immagine that xoom will be able to play all that stuff. Video playback is largely a software matter, and barring any wanton ban on a particular codec across a whole OS, like apple did with flash, a highly spec'd device like the xoom should be able to play anything once devs start working on software for 3.0.

I dont see Google imposing restrictions on codecs.

  • @IndivisiblePrinciple I just found that video player that does in software decoding are able to play avi and divx files and 480p mkv files, which is suitable solution for people still interested in xoom

  • have you installed any custom roms on your adam?

  • @kgbrown247 just the Edenx 2.01, nothing too special

  • Any comments on which feels more comfortable to hold? And camera quality?.

From what I can gather from other comparisons, the adam is better for the former and the motorola has a much better camera.

    Nice comparison vid. :-)

  • @SGuyQST You correct on both points imo. xoom's camera is better (rear). adam feels more comfortable with one hand hold. motorola you have hold it with both hands or use the one hand on the back trick

  • Comment removed

  • Nice video dude! But throughout the video, I could see your full face reflection on the Xoom and not one bit on the Adam (even for full bright display) . I think, once your Adam gets Honeycomb ported to it, this comparison may seem more credible. I dont have either of these tablets but personally I think the Adam seems a better hardware device. Good luck with your tablets!

  • @mindhacker25 adam uses a matted screen and xoom uses (i believe) a glossy screen. well if anything, the xoom can be used as a mirror when you turn it off :P j/k! but really, if you start using it, you dont even notice the reflect because the light from LED outshines your reflection produced by external light source

  • One thing i dont like about honeycomb is what is the advantage of software buttons?

think about this when playing the new tablet games like samurai 2 or monster madness that notification bar is there taking up space.

  • @spitfirerx good question. i guess google wanted to do something unique. but if you think about it, removing the hardware button remove bulk and space from the phone/tablets. if you look at adam, it has a pretty big bezel due to the buttons. i guess with that, they can focus on screen size and making it slimmer. and yes, i do wish sometimes the notification bar auto-disappear sometimes.

  • Nice comparision. I ALMOST got the Adam but their purchase policies scared me away. I LOVE my XOOM!!

How is it that the clock/date stay while you swipe through the home screens? Can you tell me what you are using? Thanks!

  • @ckelly38237 they both are great functional tablets. i cant wait to see how their tablet OS evolves after 1-2 years. Those clock/date/battery gauge is actually a Live wallpaper. Simply Clock Live Wallpaper - WOLF LABS. Wolf labs have a dozen other free live wallpaper.

  • What is the launcher or something you're using on the Adam? I mean't to ask, how did you make that look? I'm sorry I'm a toddler with Android. Also, nice wall paper!

  • @vimmy2492 ADWLauncher for Adam

  • just wondering if you have "removed" cell standby service in your adam?

  • @woshi02191 yes it's been removed

  • nice video but the comparison will be meaningful when adam gets Honeycomb.

  • Thanks for the video, it seems you are a fan of the "SO". Mind doing some under bright lighting while carrying them, as well as outdoors? -CC

  • @clockcycles haha! i thought "so"! video blogs are not easy to do!
