  • This is great, but personally, if its something you can do in real life, then why bother doing it virtually? Now if you added loops or some awesome special effects and obstacles...

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that you can do this in as little as two months! I just can't wait until the technology gets more sophisticated and we'll be killing dragons and stomping goombas ourselves. =)

  • wow... soon in a decade or so this technology is going to be far more sophisticated..andmaybe we can play games like COD or tomb raider virtually.....

  • wow, what kind of education do u need to do that?

    programming?

  • BACK DOOR STRIKE!!

  • beautiful technology (y)

  • Wow! I find it quite amazing that people dont seem to realise that vr has been around since the early 90's... it was even present in some higher class arcades at one point! Not saying that your work isn't great... it is, just how people think its a new innovation. I cant remember why it was suddenly abandoned back, I think it was damage to the eyes through long exposure, not sure.

Will we ever see it being used in my generation, in the mainstream markets?!

  • i love the power glove its so bad

  • OMG YES!

the new gaming system we all have been waiting for!~

  • Cool! Turns out that my brother is doing precisely the same thing with his glasses and a SPARKFUN gyroscope attatched to it. Not only did he correct gravity compensation... he has also made a script that hacks into windows DX kernel, meaning that the gyroscope can not only affect a game he made himself, but can be integrated into ANY game that uses direct X, and any game that doesn't can use his GYRO mouse move script. He also has a gun, and in his game this moves independently. Upload soon.

  • soon you can make an avatar like in the movie avatar and play with it

  • Well done! THIS is where we were with this tech back in the 90's. I still somewhat disappointed in the gaming industry, because I can only imagine where VR could be at today.

  • Oh my God! Virtual reality!

I didn't know people were this close already. Especially the fact that you can look around the room. Oh my God this is so awesome.

I'm hoping it's perfected in my lifetime.

  • this is gonna be like when we look back at n64 or nintendo and say wow look how far we've come. baby steps. we'll get there

  • Virtual reality already exists, and in the best quality you will ever have. Its called lucid dreaming.

  • this was made in 2000 and F***ing 7 and what are they making now Kinect.

I think they should work together with sony aswell.

Combine this Kinect (Natal) and PS Move and will be the best, thumbs up if you agree.

  • this is a kick in the balls to the wii

  • man!!! i can't believe what im seeing! why haven't u released it as a commercial project??? i'll probably be the first one to buy....even if it costs a FORTUNE.

  • bahahaha, gutter ball to a spare, great comeback xD

  • LOL!!!!!!!!!

  • wow awesome

i guess soon games will more real and exciting

  • Fuck det er vildt !

  • i really hope this is the future gaming cant wait to play COD than

  • after watching the other video you had where the sweedish tv show was talking about this, i've decided: the whole glove and headgear thing is just a joke...the other thing i've decided is either: the game shown is a proof of concept by nintendo OR you guys made a game for the wii...either is plausible but for anyone watching, the whole glove thing is not real at all

  • where can we get one

  • dude... these VR helmets are like super crack cocain higher then any other thing weed chucknorris game and is on super cancer wii. Thats all you need to know

  • 2 months! I mean it doesnt look fun or anything to play but im amazed, 7th semester project and in two months, pretty awsome!

  • terrible just terrible

  • @Mars7202 your mom's terrible

  • What are the developers doing! If an everyday guy can do this, there should be 10 times more advanced system on the market! Come on!

  • @nofreedomofspeech yeah , and look at the date, it was 2007 so now we should have virtual reality in every game !!!

  • OMG that is soo awesome,

But uuhm, your sort of a super human in the game, did you see how hard he threw the ball the second time ?

    Anyway freaking awesome :)

It is only a matter of time......

  • just wait another 15 years......today's Xbox 360 will be concidered ancient and all video games will be like this with 4000p graphics. Just look at how far we came since the 90s.

  • He's asking if anyone's bought it from you yet

  • The ball is way too light! xD

Great job! Can't wait to see this in real life and have stuff like this. PM me on how you made that!

  • Good Job on the virtual reality! I actually had some ideas myself on how to make the suits, types of games, sensors, and stuff like that, but I dont have the money nor time to do so, and I dont have the programming knowledge for it... But once again Good Job!

  • holy sheep! less than 2 months!

dude why aren't you a multi millionare?

  • nice toss hahahhah

  • You might want to adjust the physics of the balls they seem a little on the low mass side lol

  • LOL i literately screamed when i played VR stuff

  • where abouts?

  • sweet, the only thing missing is virtual beer ha ha, no but really this will be the next step for video games, the wii is kinda like a step in that direction, I can't wait, by the time this stuff comes out I'll be old and feeble but I don't care old people bowl all the time, and I don't care what the doctor says, I'm having a virtual beer when I virtual bowl

  • l0l i cant wait either...im not old enough for beer so ill just bowl

  • You look absolutely stoned when they show you in real life moving around.

  • Intelligent comment...

However, I am sorry to inform you that it is one of my test subjects that i have filmed, not myself.

  • This is really cool. Do you mind if I upload this video on a website. (Giving you full credit of course)

  • not all, you just go ahead and upload :-)

  • cool!

  • Dude that was like so awsome! Why was there no full body?and only a hand.

  • We found out that it didnt really matter if the user could see the full body or not. Besides, if we had a full body we would have to recalibrate every time we had a new user, since no two users have the same arm length, height, etc.

  • is there any other scenarios like a zombie simulator

  • At my 8th semester we did a 2 player computer game. Player 1 plays in VR (using same setup as here in VR bowling) and is a patient stuck to a wheelchair at a haunted hospital.

Player 2 plays the ghosts of the hospital, playing the game as if it was a RTS. As an interaction deviced we developed a table top device similar to the reactable (search "reactable" here at youtube).

I hope to edit a video of this project and upload it during the next couple of month.

  • no way you have to post a vid of that

  • very neat. How did you get the hardware? The description says it was a medialogy but how much computer science did you study? What programming languages were you working with?

  • I study Medialogy under Aalborg University, Copenhagen, Denmark. They have a lot of VR equipment, including head mounted displays and a six-sided CAVE (which is very cool :-).

The data glove, however, we made since we didnt have a working one at the time.

We used Virtools to implement most of the game. It is sort of a game engine which can be used for VR as well. It has its own scripting language called vsl, but you can also use c++

  • regarding the amount of computer science you can get a quick overview of what we study at medialogy . dk

  • Every semester is a project. Do you want to make games as a career?

  • I did think about it for while, but have now changed my specialisation into developing software for mobile and distributed systems. But if the right opportunity turns up, I wouldn't mind working in the gaming industry

  • lol that looks amazing

  • hey maybe you've answred this question already, but can you feel the weight of the ball? i mean does your hand go down because of the weight of the ball?

  • nope. see the comment below

  • no way... thats pretty crazy

  • can you feel the ball with the gloves? and where can i buy a vr helmet?

  • There are no force feedback in the glove. We cheat the brain into thinking that you can feel the balls and the weight, by using visual and audio cues.

  • If you want to get your hands on some VR equipment check out prices on the website of vrealities.

It is very expensive so i would suggest you also look at e-bay to find something used.

If you want a cheap data glove I suggest the P5 Glove.

  • i wanna play!

  • nice through

  • how did u make it

  • it's a poject about creating the illusion of haptic.

it was made using virtools 3.5 with the havoc physic engine

  • yah umm...i have no idea what you just said

  • sweeeeeet!

  • ccccccccccccccooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllll
