My only concern is that there will be one server int he PVP that dominates (*cough *couch China). Inhabitants of the other servers would lose the majority of the time, and PVP would die because of it. I hope they eventually implement a PVP system where players from THE SAME SERVER battle. That way, the skilled players in the server would be diffused, providing a more balanced PVP.
@he110me Thats why its WvWvW (3 servers fighting eachother). If 1 server is more powerful than the other 2, they can join forces to take the stronger server. Also there will be a system that pair up servers based on results, so dont worry, I think Arenanet has the solution to most mmo issues. (at least from what i've seen) Your old school system with factions on each server is just a devider of the community. With GW2's system every1 on each server is pulling in one direction.
It's funny when people say that GW2 will have some kind of superb community, all I'm seeing is some kind of resentment and blind hatred towards anyone who plays or played WoW at some point. How is pvp gonna work though? Like he says the warrior and gaurdian dont do a lot of dmg but they are hard to kill. Is it, for example, going to be like wow where if youre a holy pally vs a rogue youll win because you will NEVER die NEVER go OOM and can still deal damage? Or will the dps prevail at some point, as it should?
Love how everyone is bringing wow in on this. Not every MMO has to be compared to wow... plus every single MMO that has been systematically destroyed by wow in the past has generated similar hype ( the new king of MMO's ). I hope guild wars is good but lets see if its like the previous game where you could play the full game in a day then get bored.
If you did that, you were playing it wrong. I played GW1 for more than 2000 hours. There's a ton of stuff to do after the main story, even if you just get the base game and no expansions.

Getting the "Best" armor was not the point. You could get the highest statted armor easily. Getting all the prestige armor and doing all of the tougher endgame content required serious coordination and time.
I don't like WoW or other MMO's such as RoM and Allods (besides PWI, which I truly enjoy). I think GW2 will be the only other MMO I'll play. I'll go ahead and say it before anyone else does: GW2 > PWI. Also, I'm a big Star Wars fan, but must not be big enough because if I have to choose between GW2 and SWTOR, I'm going for GW2.

Regardless of what you might think or say WoW still is a great game and has set the model and framework for future MMO's to come. There's no shame in admitting that. Will Guild Wars 2 be good? Maybe. But an MMO's success is determained by how well it can cater to a large audience and not a specific demographic. By saying things like "WoW players stay away" you're actually telling the mass majority of MMO-players to not play the game. Don't you want Guild Wars to succeed?

The World of Warcraft is dead. @valsavis77 Again, if you present your idea to someone you want funding from and that someone happens to know high requirements = minimum sales, they'll say no. As a single independent developer, it'll take way too long to make such a game without funding that it's almost unfeasible.
As for the PvP aspect, it reminds me of TF2 where team is key and even if you're up against a Heavy-Medic combo, if you're good enough, you can take them out both on your own.
WoW is the watermark for mmos.. All these games are trying to top it. But WoW has been dominate for 7 years. Just respect it. GW2 looks like it's going to be an awesome game, but there is no way to tell if it will be better than WoW until we've played it. @dieislive Probably 10-15 seconds at the time you first get invisibility, but, most likely, the time you'll be able to stay invisible will increase the more you level up, if you find bonuses that add time to invisibility, acquire new skills that increase that time, or other things that will. It probably won't stay the same amount.

@WarcraftTitan I hate to burst your bubble, but the fire in WoW (the updated fire as of Cataclysm) looks better than this. I do accept that this is the beta fire, and it may well look better for release, but no, this isn't the best looking fire out in today's MMOs.
I think they should have a class like a bishop from maplestory. It can use certain skills to inflict holy damage that is super effective on undead, and prayers to buff their mates/curse enemies, and then most other spells for healing 30 per sec, or 200 straight away, or an area effect heal. ect ect ect.
There's only one thing I don't understand about dynamic events... let's say I play a character and as I'm traveling I come across a town by pirates and then I don't do anything. Okay, so the pirates will develop and live in the town. But if another player makes a character and goes to that town, will they see it as I see it or for them will it still be the original town? Basically I'm asking if one person makes a decision, does that affect the game for everybody?
the downed state idea is very smart i like it. they REALLY need to change the animation for jumping though.....it looks very exagurated(spell check lolz). i mean seriously the girl jumps like 5 meeters.....they should make that roll or jump or w/e be like prince of persia's it looked very realistic and kewl
@madara435 no dedicated healer class=/=no healer eg: u can roll as a water ele and basically b a hlr. but u can change to fire attunement on the fly and suddenly b a dps. the sole reason tht there is no dedicated hlr/tank/dps class is so tht each character reacts to what is needed for their party in tht specific moment.if u enjoy being a hlr (like myself) thn u can specialize in water attunement (via traits) to make u an efficient hlr
@threk17 i know and it's great that there is no tank( i hate tanks) and i love that everybody can do something in given situation but for me it can be like that but still have a class of a healer who is more of a healer and at the same time others can heal too but with less ability like a healer. It is just my opinion because a healer really is a part of a strategy when i'm playing with my friends and parties. Healer for me gives value to a person. But whatever happens i'll play GW2 AWESOME!

It really doesn't. GW2 is a type of game that you need to move around a lot. The healer class will need a lot of attacks skills to live and will be totally useless if he/she doesn't have anyone around to heal. The skills would be bad if 5 skills only had you as a target.

But I think it's completely fair to say that GW2 will not even come close to 'killing' WoW, in fact it will probably be an inferior game. WoWwill be the dominant MMO for many years to come, until Blizzards next MMO. There is no breaking the market.

Regardless of what you might think or say WoW still is a great game and has set the model and framework for future MMO's to come. There's no shame in admitting that. Will Guild Wars 2 be good? Maybe. But an MMO's success is determained by how well it can cater to a large audience and not a specific demographic. By saying things like "WoW players stay away" you're actually telling the mass majority of MMO-players to not play the game. Don't you want Guild Wars to succeed?

The World of Warcraft is dead. Once ur max lvl theres nothin gto do except PvP which isnt perfectly balanced in the first place and World PvP is dead. theres no excitement to it anymore if Guild Wars 2 is gonna be as good as i think it is, then blizzard better pack up their bags and go. they took advantage of WoW players for years, the only thing keeping them there was that the game was the best ever but once Guild Wars comes out that'll all change. @valsavis77 Again, if you present your idea to someone you want funding from and that someone happens to know high requirements = minimum sales, they'll say no. As a single independent developer, it'll take way too long to make such a game without funding that it's almost unfeasible.
As for the PvP aspect, it reminds me of TF2 where team is key and even if you're up against a Heavy-Medic combo, if you're good enough, you can take them out both on your own.

@dieislive Probably 10-15 seconds at the time you first get invisibility, but, most likely, the time you'll be able to stay invisible will increase the more you level up, if you find bonuses that add time to invisibility, acquire new skills that increase that time, or other things that will. It probably won't stay the same amount.

I think they should have a class like a bishop from maplestory. It can use certain skills to inflict holy damage that is super effective on undead, and prayers to buff their mates/curse enemies, and then most other spells for healing 30 per sec, or 200 straight away, or an area effect heal. ect ect ect.

There's only one thing I don't understand about dynamic events... let's say I play a character and as I'm traveling I come across a town by pirates and then I don't do anything. Okay, so the pirates will develop and live in the town. But if another player makes a character and goes to that town, will they see it as I see it or for them will it still be the original town? Basically I'm asking if one person makes a decision, does that affect the game for everybody?

@madara435 no dedicated healer class=/=no healer eg: u can roll as a water ele and basically b a hlr. but u can change to fire attunement on the fly and suddenly b a dps. the sole reason tht there is no dedicated hlr/tank/dps class is so tht each character reacts to what is needed for their party in tht specific moment.if u enjoy being a hlr (like myself) thn u can specialize in water attunement (via traits) to make u an efficient hlr

It is just my opinion because a healer really is a part of a strategy when i'm playing with my friends and parties. Healer for me gives value to a person. But whatever happens i'll play GW2 AWESOME!

It really doesn't. GW2 is a type of game that you need to move around a lot. The healer class will need a lot of attacks skills to live and will be totally useless if he/she doesn't have anyone around to heal. The skills would be bad if 5 skills only had you as a target.

@madara435 no main healer class is what people have been waiting for. Healers cause problems and are often overpowered 1v1. Healers also make defensive abilitys like shield worthless in pvp. Finally this game will be about the fighter and his skills and his defensive abilitys and not about who is getting better heals
