put genki sudo on the taekwondo mat with this guy genki would probably get knocked out in turn. The tkd guy is not a ring fighter, genki sudo is. This fight is like throwing a figure skater into a hockey game.
To all those people dissing Genki for being sloppy, of course he wasn't taking this fight seriously. His opponent does TKD, and as we all know, TKD sucks.
for real to the guy below. sparring is practice for real fights or tournaments, and in sparring you dont try to knock your partner out cold! its just a different style, kinda like kickboxing.
real sparring??? what are you looking at in this video that leads you to belive it isn't real?? It's just different from other arts but definately REAL
genki is very unorthodox in his fighting method. i've seen this guy alot and he sure know's what he's doing. fights are not only physical, but mental battles as well
I once saw some fights with different fighting styles vs each other... like a boxer vs a sumo-wrestler, kinda funny... every was allowed except hits to the groin and choking... one of the fights took about 2 sec. The martial arts fighter runned for his opponent, jumped into the air and kicked his knee into the face of the opponent who didn't knew what was coming... real cool
i love how these people bow to each other, hug each other, and congradulate each other like that. I haven't seen american boxing too much, but I do remember tyson biting some dude's ears.
I am AMerican but are you stupid? Who do you think won the fuckin game? It is obvious the Japanese guy won. What the fuck is the problem with your Canadian brain?
This is just TKD, which generally only looks for the big finishing moves versus the unique (read:strange) striking style of Genki Sudo. I like TKD, but it's not a complete striking style. Big flashy spinning and jumping kicks ARE very powerful and useful to end a fight, but you can't just throw those all the time...you need to set them up with a more simple, direct style first. TKD is like the icing on any striking style.
It is tae kwon do. If you listen carefully to the announcer, he says "tae kwon do". People see this and say tae kwon do isn't any good, but they're just using the wrong attacks at the wrong times. Tae kwon do combines speed and power and uses practical, effective attacks.
while I agree this wasn't a great fight I have to say that the comments on here are very ignorant and unimformed. Most of the posters on here if put in the ring with either one of those men would look like fat retarded girls throwing slaps widely and would be dealt with quickly and easily.
This is Sudo Genki, or Genki Sudo, if you're from Japan. He's the one with the kfc bucket on his head in the beginning. This is not his art. His art is mma, but this is kickboxing. The guy he's fighting is a Tae Kwon Do world champion, i believe.
this is taekwondo of course it lacks principles such as defence and direct line for attacking. they aim to do fancy shit but in the real world without rules they would not last long.
haha that's retarded. you obviously have never taken tkd or you would no that it focuses solely on direct line attacking with simple moves and very little on fancy forms like kung fu stances.
sorry. I have never taken TKD therefore i do not know its main principles. I base my assumptions on my analysis of TKD fighters during tournanments. Perhaps you would call a roundhouse kick "a direct line attack" but based on my knowledge of kung fu and common sense it seems that making a full circle and then kicking takes much longer than to sidekick or front kick, leaving one open to attack. Sorry if i offended your style of martial arts.
The only reason tae kwon do looks stupid and impractical in touraments is because all of the pressure points and bone breaks are not allowed. In the "real world", if someone in tae kwon do was attacked, they could simply break their bones and knock them out. I'm in tae kwon do, and I'm not sure if you are. But if you aren't, please don't judge something based on some video you seen on youtube.
I agree that it looks impractical because of all the rules etc. I'm not in TKD martial arts but i am surprised that they teach "bone breaks" which they don't teach in my particular martial art style. I based my assumption on watching TKD tournaments. I dont think turning your back to an opponent during RH kicks is smart thats all. You saw the first and second RH kicks right. 1st failed miserably left the guy on the ground open to a finishing move and second left him open to close range attack.
yeah I see your point in that regard but that has a lot to do with the rules of this competition. The guy doing the roundhouse kick isn't worried about getting hit on the ground or from behind because of mutual respect and the rules of the fight. roundhouse kicks are really counter attacks when your opponent turns sideways while throwing a punch and when landed you won't be turning a 360.
hmm.. thats sudo genki, one of the top lightweight fighters in the world. Shouldnt comment on something you know nothing about. In other words, shut your ass dumb shit.
tell about genki fighting this taekwondo tournament fighter is a joke I do taekwondo and I know genki sudo is the equavlent of a grand master in his sport,
he is a real martial artist first he got a black belt in karate and then in judo. unlike all these new mma guys who try to dabble in a little bit of every thing at once. ever heard the saying jack of all trades master of none.
Yeah, these new MMA guys who destroy the one-dimensional old guys. Like Genki Sudo vs. Ramon Dekkers. Genki Sudo isn't even a top fighter, he hasn't ever really been a top fighter. Top performer, yes, but not really top fighter, no.
well i believe a fighter should be well rounded like mma but i believe they will never reach their true potential as a martial artist having never really trained in any martial arts to inherit the mental and spiritual aspect of the art. They are just mimicing techniques from that style having no real passion for the art, just the mma sport.
This is funny, do you even know about Ramon Dekkers, one of the most respected Muay Thai fighters? Dekkers got submitted by Genki Sudo -- that would be the flame-throwing-KFC guy in this video -- in 3 minutes in MMA rules. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-QYl02-eBQ
And don't say that Dekkers would've won given Muay Thai RULES, because he agreed and wanted to fight in MMA as a personal challenge.
SHDJEN is funny. Obviously you know very little about MMA. Genki is one of the best. His only recent lost was to Kid Y. But Kid is amazing. Educate yourself a bit Check out his record: http://www.sherdog.net/forums/showthread.php?s=dc17bea98f77507f1cd1f417e6401a52&t=407010
Martial arts is just that an ART form. Its very pretty but MMA is the practical use of all of them.
The korean guy is Kim Jingwu (an olyimpic Taekwon gold medalist) and the other guy is Genki Sudo (well versed in Ju-jutsu and possesses some Karate and Kickboxing skills)
dat dude wit the tatts sux, if i wer the guy in the pants i would hav just ran in a gave him a few good hits in the face, dat would hav slowed him down.
in taekwondo , very important rule is not to use high kicks when u're running out ur energy. Coz it's not gonna be powerful enough & fast enough and the weak point will show up.
he's good fighter , but the mistake he did couldn't make the fight longer
wtf was up with that intro? He really does joke around... as for the other one, he was trying to use too much of his tkd training in this fight and used moves that were extremely wasteful and showy. Too many spinning back kicks, none landing a good clean hit. It'd do him good to learn from Benny Urquidez's career.
and seriously... kickboxing not martial arts? wtf?
That is Genki Sudo (a MMA fighter, mainly a freestyle jujutsu fighter who crosstrain in kyokushin karate) vs tkd fighter Kim Jingwu. It was a superfight at a k-1 max event 2002.
