great card but this is moslty for bragging rights and rich people that doesnt give a damn about money... for me aesthetics is 3rd only, i go performance>quality>aesthetics­, just like i go with everything else. but yeah ive been with my powercolor 4870x2 for 38mos now and never had problems with it but it's struggling a bit with new games now like bf3. im now waiting for 7000series and 600series.

Ok, I have waitied a long time for this question but I am dying to know... I currently own the Sapphire 6970, so with these cards becoming harder and harder to find, my question is. Can I use ANY other manufacturers 6970 as a second card in xfire with the Sapphire without a hiccup? Or do they need to be the exact same model/brand etc? Thanks! Ive been a long time fan of OC3D this is my first question! (maybe first comment too)

@Paranundrum You can crossfire any 6970 yes dude. If one was to only have 1gb of ram and the other one 2gb of ram then they would both run at 1GB - its also worth making sure you match the clock speeds either in ccc or afterburner aswell to just make sure its all lovely.

If there aren't any Lightnings for sale when I'm finished saving up, is there any other 6970 that can match the Lightnings OC'd specs with ease? Preferably dual slot, and able to run cool like the Lightning.

hey is any able to help at all?

ive got 3 6970's in crossfire and i dont think im getting the best performance in gaming.. running skyrim maxed out at 1920 x 1080 i get like 50fps when im in a town... which doest seeem right,, and with 1 card i get terrible lag. :S but playing metro 2033 i get around 10fps which seems right... same with saints row the third.. i get about 30 - 40 fps maxed out in dx11.. i have the latest drivers and caps from amd...

@TimeToLiveCustoms i think it is possibly using crossfire cause i get good fps with metro 2033 with all the dx11 options ticked and bf3 works at over 100fps.. i did a heaven benchmark test for a forum and i was looking at the around the same results as other ppl running trifire 6970's.. i have no idea. its juts a few games i got worse results with. another example is modern warffare 2. i was getting 50fps which is ridicosuly aweful.

I can't wait for the review! These will look great in the rig I'm building! I have a question though. What case would you recommend for running two of these gpu's in on a Rampage IV Extreme? As I'm building a black and red themed rig I'd like to use the very extended slot spacing between 2 cards availabe on the R4E to maximum advantage.

The logo on the back plate is round the wrong way. When you put the card in to a case with a window it will look wrong. or am i just being picky. Same with the devil 13 logo on the heat pipe side. when the card is fitted the writing will be upside down.
