In response to "where can I get this?" someone mentioned it's on a rare CD compilation (not on the actual soundtrack for some bizarre reason!) but even that has Johnny Depp speaking poetry over the music... your mileage may vary! but this video is the only copie of the raw opening credits version online. Strange that no one's done a video with just the opening credits, which are epic...

So happy you have the opening credits version from the movie itself! Every other version is off of CD has Johnny Depp speaking poetry over the music, which is totally unnecessary and I like the movie music unadorned.

I wonder if the raw track has ever been released? That's OK I like the steam engine sounds in the background -- the music was designed to go with them, kind of like Jimi Hendrix's "Hear My Train A'Comin". Actually this track is a LOT like "Hear My Train A'Comin".

yes very unfortunate. when i ask people if they have seen "dead man", they respond; you mean "dead man walking" ? no its dead man! a great flick with depp, soundtrack by neil. depps character "williwam blake" is mistaken for the english poet william blake by the native "nobody". played by a native american from branford, ontario, canada. fantastic movie! doesnt get the notariety it deserves; but maybe it is better that way

No dude, but you can get the soundtrack which is pretty much the same tune but ambient and better if you ask me. It's quite rare, you'll prob have to download it.
