  • We did ours with black motor oil and metal filings, we got a LOT more of a reaction. We shaved a nickel down to nothing using a dremil and got a lot sharper set of points and found it stands up more.

  • try to use a bright background dear friend..thx

  • ok now i now

  • what would happen if you touch the ink when the magnet is still on

  • This doesn't work AT ALL. bought some rare earth magnets some time ago from DealExtreme, which are extremely strong but i didn't get ANY response. Tried it with all types of combinations between the vegetable oil & the toner powder but you'll at least expect a little suspense right? ... Nothing at all :) So don't spend your money on it. Especially the toners are pretty expensive..

  • @basbrouwers Dont use toner, i wouldnt think it would work. We used metal shavings and blackened oil for ours and it works like a dream. Toner has next to nothing for metals and the reaction isnt nearly as dramatic as the one i produced. We also shaved a nickel down cuz we seen our first one on the show Prank Science, they had a bigger magnet and used shavings for theirs as well.

  • I watched this on a Monday:)

  • I have my hand under the table and im moving around the magnet. As you can see, i can draw with it! (draws penis)

  • y in america people who smart called nerd and have no Popularity

  • what if you dropped a magnet into it

  • Don't waste your time or money doing this. The ferrofluid featured in the video is obviously bought. MICR toner is pretty expensive, you might as well just buy the actual ferrofluid online. MICR will only give you a faintly magnetic blog. If you want to make it yourself, you will need to synthesize the ferro nanoparticles and then stir in a surfactant, then suspend it in a carrier fluid. This recipe calls for vegetable oil, which is way too viscous for a ferrofluid to get any spiking...

  • but will it blend?

  • @1998adam8991 A few months ago I said that and I got to comment, but now I have been beat.

  • @KornFreak2001 Well I figured out I still have top comment but it is not shown, so you might beat me, I had 49 likes.

  • This technology is already used in automobile suspension.

  • Do we know where to find MICR toner? And what kind of pricetag are we looking at?

I don't know about you guys, but I have yet to find toner that is not in a cartridge. And I've checked close to every shop in town.

  • its like unlimited paint!

  • isn't toner toxic?

  • @ThekillA981 yes

  • Your video is popular on Ecuador

  • Does this actually work?

  • I never knew 'rare' and 'not expensive' could be in the same sentence together

  • isn't toner carcinogenic? not so hazardous after mixing with the oil, but more the process in retrieving it.

  • I used to make arrow to the knee jokes, then I took a vagina to the penis.

  • NERD

  • @car12s

    Yes we all are

  • @car12s DOUCHEBAG

  • If the liquid soaks into papr or cardboard, could it become magnetic?

  • @MrKillernuker As far as I know, no. The nanoparticles would collect as a dust on top of the paper or cardboard and you would just have oil soaked paper/cardboard.

  • Check out my FerooGoo Vid =]

  • now do that with those super magnet u have ;)

  • Isnt the MICR Toner toxic?? (Not just toxic by drinking but the fumes off it are toxic)

  • Your vid went viral on Praia

  • FAIL xD

  • but will it blend, that is tha question.

  • oohh ma gawd what if you used the super magnent

  • I have a couple in my house..:)

  • Why is everyone saying there taking an arrow to the knee??

  • @Shirley8000 because of a game called skyrim, check it out its a fun game; BUT THIS DAMN QUOTE IS RETARDED

  • @XxMrSnippyxX I used to be retarded, until I took an arrow in the knee.

  • @noyouaintgettingit dude really? im asking an actual question and your the one being the damn fuck nugget, that joke is way old and because of your comment all think of you is that your a worthless piece of shit who sits around all day typing this on every fucking comment you see

  • @XxMrSnippyxX I used to be a worthless fuck nugget...... but then I took an arrow to the knee.

    U mad ?

  • @noyouaintgettingit i used to be a piece of shit jack ass like you.... but then i took an arrow to the knee

    U Mirin?

  • @XxMrSnippyxX The interwebs is serious business

  • It's an H yea I am learning

  • T-1000.

  • can colour toner work.. i mean lazerjet toner but in yellow colour

  • this fuckin' beautiful future

  • I used to make experiments like this, but then i took an arrow to the knee

  • @CraftDotTv i used to beat old jokes to death, but then i took an arrow to the knee

  • @shasui26 I used to be good at replying to replies.... But then i took an arrow to the knee.

  • wut does it feel like

  • I tried this with the leftover toner from a laserjet cartridge, but exactly this one isn't magnetic at all! :( :( :(

(the documents I print at school are)

  • @ZomB1986 Turns out that Lexmark (7% of the laserjet market) uses contact development, instead of static charges, which doesn't need iron in the toner. AARGHH

  • Dick at 3:09?

  • now i know how to repaint my desk faster

  • so how about that porno add.... wtf

  • @MakoRuu IN A CAVE!

  • the should call it How to make Black Symbiote

  • USE STRONGER MAGNET TO CLEAN MESS. YES?

  • Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave.

  • What would happen if you put that ferrowater in a bowl and then put the magnet in the water?

  • I was just looking for the disclaimer for this video but I think there isn't one... Laser toner is thought to be carcinogenic so if you tried this at home and got sick go ahead and sue the film maker

  • hey bro it didnt work for me.

    followed ur instructions .

    vegetable oil

    toner

    and mixed it well

    no response to a magnet.

  • GODH you're smart. Might do this for my scient fair this year

  • as I know. laser printer ink be poisonous? Is it?

  • I was watching someone watch this video until I shot them in the knee with an arrow.

  • aaaaaaghhh!!!!!!!!! venom

  • i am so confused with both top comments...

  • Ferro fluid scares me. Kill it. D:

  • 3.07 looks like a dick.and then he said lets draw lol

  • me: boring ..

    Many seconds later

me: ,MOM ! MOM ! BUY ME THIS

  • JELLY!

  • can i use a hard drive magnet?

  • Hi, I've tried this recipe using the micr toner and oil but I wasn't getting any spike formation. I've got some pretty strong magnets which created spikes with the bought ferrofluid. Would you have any advice as to why it's not working? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

  • hey where do u get the table????

  • Very Cool!

  • Is the Toner optional just to have a good color or it's needed for the liquid to work??

  • @kyoshintama If you took the time to read, you would see he is using MICR toner not regular toner. MICR stands for Magnetic Image Character Recognition and is use commonly in the banking industry to print the special routing/account line on the bottom of checks and other financial instruments so they can be automatically processed by computer (although OCR is also used today)... so yes the MICR TONER IS THE MAGNETIC MATERIAL THAT MAKES THIS WORK! Did you think the oil is magnetic?

  • @BudsMoKing chill! dude, take it easy =P

  • 0:56 - that's what she said

  • Comment removed

  • Looks like a penis at 3:07. Haha

  • that is so cool

  • Gotta have a strong magnet, Neodymium, or any rare earth magnet, what are magnets? How do they work, LOL

  • @21TooMany Hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @21TooMany dejavu O.o

  • how big the magnet should be?

  • One question... Will it blend?

  • is laser toner regular ink ?????????/?PLEASE ANSWER

  • Is any of this stuff extremely toxic?

  • is laser toner the material we use in printers??

  • 397 people failed

  • when i was in 5th grade household hacker tricked me into destroying a pair of headphones to make a speaker.

i dont trust these fools anymore lol

  • thumbs up if 9GAG brought you here :)

  • from whre can i get Rare Earth Magnet? :O plz :P

  • I tried this. I spent $20 on toner and this doesn't work. The toner wouldn't mix with the vegetable oil. I added a small amount of dish soap as a surfactant and it still didn't work. There was only one kind of toner, it's HP, which is what your bottle says. Is there a special type of toner to use? Disappointed.

  • @lntift where did u get the toner? i went to like 3 diffrent places today and i really want to do this so please tell me!!!!

  • @cookie14231 Well, save your money, because this did not work for me. I got it at Staples.

  • @lntift did you make sure it was MICR?(magnetic ink character recognition)

  • ahhhh that soo easy

  • is there any alternate of rare earth magnet?

  • @mashratalam he was kidding.

    any magnet works!

  • @unlaughable nah, I tried it with ordinary magnet. didn't work. morover I had found a little button sized magnet (which might be an earth magnet :| ). when i got it close to liquid magnetic ink, it made a little mound on the surface but no spikes on it... :(

  • I'm gonna do it!!!

  • VSAUCE FTW

  • That is ----somthing

  • What is a Rare Earth Magnet? What's the difference between a R.E. Magnet and a normal magnet?

  • @Kancer1991 not steel magnet , cuz its gain its magnetism by putting electricity on it in the factory ^^

    Good Luck

  • @Kancer1991 A rare earth magnet is just a magnet made with rare earth elements. Most magnets are made with iron but rare earth magnets are usually made of an alloy of Iron, born and neodymium (the rare earth metal), These are much more stronger than regular iron magnets.

  • is it liquid toner or powder toner please someone tell fast i have to submit the project by sat

  • @thisisit987qwerty its liquid

  • Is it toxic at all?

Or child friendly with adult supervision?

I'd like to show this to the kids.

  • @RyugoKunesake unless they start licking it or something similar you'll be fine. Depending on how young the children is I wouldn't let them touch it. (like under the age of 12-13 and if they do touch it, exercise proper hygiene of course.)

  • Cool

  • can i use a carrier that is conductive of electricity?

  • Message me for Ferrofluid toys :)

  • how did i get here from skryim

  • heres a cool trick put a strong neo magnet up ur ass and now jump on a fridge

  • Where can you buy this toner locally or internet

  • @lancejay1234 office supply store store- locally

    it's in the description.

  • Do you need the MIRC type of toner cuz were trying it for a science project and it's not working

  • @lancejay1234 yes you do

  • i have a question on the rare earth magnet , it only works on rare earth magnet?

  • the hunt for mickmos's comment begins....

  • @7waterd my hunt lasted about 10 seconds. What about yours?

  • @randomloverofcheese like a minute or so.....:(

  • @7waterd you know, you could just have opened the all comments page and hit CTRL+F. That enters the find bar, which can be used to locate any word on the page. His comment was warning people not to place their dicks in the fluid.

  • @7waterd lol nice

  • Can i use inc for a non-laser printer?

  • You can touch it, you can spin it around *finger goes black* .__.

  • I don't get it. But I fucking love it.

  • How can it be magnetic since it dissolved a nonpolar substance? Only nonpolar substances dissolves nonpolar substances right? and nonpolar means no charge to it?

  • @merlijnkitzmann iron cloride.

  • Lol this reminds me of terminator 2

  • This is awesome!

  • @merlijnkitzmann in the MICR Toner

  • thumbs up if Vsauce sent you Back here :)

  • thumbs up if u dont care if someone sent u here or not

  • vsauce

  • thats cool but the mans voice was lam get someone else to do it

  • its venom from spiderman!!

  • Symbiote anyone?

  • i would pain stuff with that

  • can you use canola oil?

  • i have a question, does indian drawing ink work too?

  • fcourse you can draw with it .... and make your desk in to a shit

  • cant be the only one who thought it was some strange magic when he blew on it before figuring it out

  • just very fucking awesome idea , gonna make it now

  • what if you put the magnet in the ferrofluid?

  • 0:57 thats what she said

  • "I can draw with this"...uh..yeah...a penis, apparently.

  • Fucking magnets...

  • does color ink work?

  • well it doesn't work for me somebody help ???

  • Where can I get cheap toner?

  • @irkeysersoze you don't need to. This way to make ferrofluid doesn't make the funny part: the spikes. To make them you need steel wool or black sand, wich is found on beaches. If you have a grater, grate the steel wool into very very small particles. If you have black sand, pass you magnet on top of it to atract the iron. On the end of both add oil and you're done

  • What happens if I add water 2 make it cleaner?

  • @BDhype if you try nothing's gonna happen, it's oil man, oil. Oil+water... Well, you can have fun by dropping the ferrofluid into the water.it doesn't ruin any object and you can still see it

  • i went to office depot and they laughed at me for asking for it

  • I want to get a leash, attach the magnet to the bottom, and drag it around like a pet! ^-^

  • can u use normal magnets

  • @fergusoddjob they may be too weak

  • The beaker is in ml and everyone uses ml

  • how come you measure the micr toner in ml

  • xP

  • cool...but too dirty

  • You said more on here and it sounded like moron here...

  • well, we tried adding more oil and toner

  • would iron dust from an angle grinder work with some oil? Because that toner shit can mess up you furniture if you don't watch out.

  • @3DPeter if it's iron it WILL work
