Great Scots! I've been coming to YT for over 2 yrs. & until tonight, never thought to word search Sunland-Tujunga - my hood! That's up in the Seven Hills area of Tujunga - "The Rock!" - according to K-Earth101! Anyone who lives here knows why...lol. Patrick Swayze & Herve Villachez (Tattoo of Fantasy Island) both lived in Shadow Hills, a part of Sunland. Kevin Costner lived in nearby LaCanada for a while. Cute video...thanks! Brings back memories.
for anyone interested, go to Google Earth and in the search type in porter ridge park porter ranch ca. Once it zooms in take the little orange peg man and drag him onto Ormskirk ave so you can get the street view of the park. This is the park where the bike chase seen starts. Notice the playground caterpillar is still there.
Great Job! That`s something I wanna do for sure. I`m from Brazil and a completely fan of ET and Steven Spielberg. This year I ran up Rocky Steps in Philly, next year i`ll do that!! Great Job, take a look at my video in Philly. Take care, Rodrigo ( Running Up the Rocky Steps - Rodrigo Perrini )
Here's something I forgot to mention also... I think credit is due to whoever scouted this house and neighborhood for the film. I've seen this movie dozens of times and every time I can't get over how well the filmmakers did at making the house, both interior and exterior seem so charming; in essence the quintessential family home! I think it's part of what made E.T. so great. Blade Runner (my favorite film) was released the same year, but it was depressing, whereas E.T. was a feel good movie
Kind of a weird thing I noticed, little changed except bigger trees/shrubs. Same thing when I checked out Poltergeist house. The one big thing though is how many more cars are parked in the streets today... now I'm feeling old.
@sozialeisolation Right you are! The 1982 version is much more charming. I wasn't around in '82 though (I was born in '86), but I still remember bits and pieces from 1989! I remember that time being much, much different, in a good way. Truthfully, the world has lost something since the 80's, and to some extent, since the 90's as well. This isn't mere nostalgia though, the world will never quite be as grand as it was in the 80's in my opinion. It seemed like such a cool time to live in!
I was just there on March 16th, 2010. While the trees and landscaping had changed very much, you could still tell that you were in the exact neighborhood where E.T. was shot.
I grew up on that block (hillhaven ave). I went up there and watched them film the quarantine scene. It was surreal not knowing it would go on to be such a classic.
When I arrived at the bus stop in Tunjunga I had to walk about 30 minutes to reach the house. Use Google earth and search for Tujunga. The house is on a corner of Lonzo Sree.

Wow! I didn't know the Extra Testicle lived in 7 Hills. Looks like the vegetation grew in a bit. The mailbox should read E.T.
