Thanks for the fun videos! We hold ourselves accountable by only using cash. When the money is gone we have nothing else to fall back on. My husband designed an Excel spreadsheet for our budget that we make little changes to every two weeks (payday). Then it gets printed off and put on the fridge for the kids (and us) to see. It definitely helps keep us accountable for those two weeks.
Oh my gosh, I love watching your videos, you guys crack me up! I looked around on the internet for a good spreadsheet to do our budget on. Since we get paid weekly I had some specific criteria. We love telling our money where to go! BOOYA!
Tnx for the great videos, I am so inclined to slack off because our debt is just our mortgage and we are not able to pay extra on it.Watching daily videos keeps me motivated to spend our money wisely and not go shopping. Don't get me wrong, not having any other debt feels good but sometimes you just want to do the things other people do...like spend without thinking. Tnx again for the motivation !
I hold myself accountable by writing down everythng I purchase. I try to record everything, no matter how insigificant the amount may initially seem to be. At the end of the month I go over my purchases and tally up how much I could have saved if I only stuck to my needs and not gven into my wants. It has slowly been helping me rethink purchases that fall into the "want" category although I have to admit it has been very difficult over the holiday season!
We are going to do our 2012 Goals/Budget meeting sometime in the next two weeks. It's the first time we've ever done something like this AND written it down on paper! I'm so excited. For the day to day stuff, we are really good about keeping track of every dollar, and when we slip up, we sit down and figure it out ASAP so nothing gets through the cracks anymore. I am loving it!
Very cute! I have an Excel spreadsheet that I use to keep me on track. I also don't shop at any shopping centers or malls. I shop mainly online for the best deals. I don't like to be tempted! :) I also go to all the main shopping ads online when I shop and price match. All the retails like Fred Meyers, Safeway, etc have their weekly flyers online. Then, I price match at Wal-mart. My local Library has a "free" section of magazines, books, etc that I go to once a week. Kids love it!
@DeadEyeHR2011 You are the perfect combination of my husband with his spreadsheets and me with my thrifty capabilities! You and I are A LOT alike! Thank you for sharing!
We have a lofty goal set before us...$1500/month on unsecured debt. This leaves us tight. But we are both thrifty money makers and can come up with extra cash to help during month. If we didn't have such a large goal each month, I think it would leave us a little too content and we wouldn't strive to make more....LOVE YOU ALL!
You two are so cute..:) You're so right about putting your goals and dreams on paper too. It gives you a road map to where you want to go. This year I think I"m going to set my goals in all areas of life before the new year. This way I can hit the ground running.
LOL, I am a addict on keeping my budgets written down....I write everything down. I even carry a steno notebook with me. Love your vids! You guys are just awesome and your girls are just adorable!
This is going to be a FUN one. he he Planning on doing the budget for the first time together on Saturday. Praying that things work out that we can get this rolling. You two are so cute! What a fun couple!! Bobbi Jo
