the amazing thing about the dead on their really good jams is that they always seem to start kind of dissonant but then by the end they come together in this beautiful musical painting.
If only it were about past wars! Too bad, but it applies to Iraq and Afghanistan and every rotten war they send folks off to. The U.S. government doesn't learn from history, or good songs, it seems. "Morning Dew" is so damn timely it makes me want to weep.
Sometimes when i listen to the dead i cant find a solid rythm to attach my hearing to. It almost seams messy. I love the dead but some of their songs are heard to follow. Idk if im alone in that sence.
@MrGuitarman187 I agree, Its Madness that can go any direction.. Thats the best part of the dead and improv! ;-) Nto liek ANY band EVER or again! GOOD OLE GRATEFUL DEAD!!!! (~};-)
great version, probably in the top three or 4.However, i never heard Jerry before or since sing it that way .Being a viet nam vet, every time I hear this particular version ,i get cold chills.Jerry MAY YOU REST IN PEACE!
@SuperSmallsy they are just different. the dead had better musicians on a whole i think and were "farther out", but the doors fucking rule too! they are so listenable. comparison is maybe the wrong approach. pick both!
1 person is broken inside for the dislike, although....... while this MD is great.... there are better. the6/9/77, hartford maybe 4/28/77 are much more interesting and deep as far as shows if you like this check out 5/13/77 great softer show like the barton hall but far superior in my opinion.....any true fans can hit me up for sounboards as long as they are not shows which have been packaged and sold by GD
I was there watching from right in front of Jerry. Every time the circuit of chords at the end would go around, I thought this has to be it. But it wasn't for maybe 3 minutes. Then an incredible crescendo of whirring guitar, and BAM, "I guess it doesn't BAM Matter, anyway.............
I guess it all depends on whose listening cause don't each song have its own special meaning just for u thats what i love about the dead it becomes all mine for a moment I just love this song
@r4wmaterial The woman who wrote it didn't have any god in mind while writing it. Its the form of a conversation between the last man and woman, post apocalypse, one trying to comfort the other while knowing there's absolutely nothing left.

This is actually an anti (Viet Nam) war song.
jeanhartely 9 months ago 2
@jeanhartely i herd it was about nuclear war.
"Walk me out in the morning dew my honey,
Walk me out in the morning dew today.
I can't walk you out in the morning dew my honey, "
and
Where have all the people gone my honey,
Where have all the people gone today.
There's no need for you to be worrying about all those people,
You never see those people anyway.
if not its still fun to see it from that perspective
