there has been so much cheap shot and fluke injuries since the olympic break. This was not a cheap shot but more of a fluke shot injury.
We seen the hockey fight last night where a guys head almost got busted. Ovechkin last week had a huge shot, Saturday night in the Bos/Mtl game there was a cheap shot and I don't remember the game but I seen an update yesterday on the news of a guy jumping of the ice and nailing another player.
Everything seems to happen in mass.

This was a cheap shot, you don't tie a guys leg up like that from behind for any other reason than to injure him. It was 100% a deliberate move meant to injury Crosby. The very nicest thing you could possibly say about Downie is that he's a chicken s#$t cheap shot artist.

im not denying he is a cheap shot artist in fact he definitely is and after watching the replay over a few times i have a hard time telling if it was a cheap shot or if it was a luck incident.
I have seen today a goalie in the KHL get hit with a stick by a fan. I seen something else recently to where we had some more major violence.
This could get scary over the next few weeks as we head into the playoffs.

Respectfully I have to disagree with you about its ambiguity. Downie knows full well Sids there, the puck is on the other side of the ice, so they aren't fighting for a loose puck. Downie skates up behind Crosby deliberately places his knee between and in front of Sid's right leg and then brings him down. I mean you don't simply skate into an opposing player by accident when the puck is 75 feet away and you're both skating in the same direction.

this is not intentional.u can tell, i think it was last year when crosby was voted by NHL players as"most likely to dive"and a number of players were complaining about his fabrication of checks.people like pronger, etc were the ones complaining about it,than i saw the proof for myself. crosby takes a bump from another player and falls like he was hit by a high speed hit, the ref saw it all and did not call a penalty on that player, and of course crosby gets up slowly, da ref tells him to get up
