I think it's about time Damon actually shows Elena that he cares for her. She spends so much time frightened of him cos he's trying to scare her away (cos of his feelings for her) that she might not be able to see under his exterior his true feelings. And i think it's Damons wild side that might just bring out the best in Elena, while Elena tames him :D

Damon will show some feelings for Elena soon, in the season finale. Kevin W., one of the writers of the show said so ;) So it wont be long. But another writer of the show, Julie Plec (she is a D/E fan btw), said that Damon will be falling for Elena but she will not return his feelings for quite some time, so it will be interesting to watch ;)

I think Stefan is more sensible(not counting the last episode)and is more mature than Damon.But Damon brings life into Elena,he's wild and uncontrolled and Elena seems more easygoing with him) Damon intrigues Elena and scares her,but if she'd just give him a go,he would do more than everything to protect her. Even in his darkest moments(like making her drink his blood)did he protectively stroke her hair giving her back to Stefan(after kissing the top of her head) :D
