But I actually liked this one too, i just look at it as a completely different movie, without comparing it to T1 and T2 (T3 was crap). Looks like Industrial Light and Magic, after the fabulous transformers film are up to kicking some serious ass. Not based on his character. This new series is different, it's not about Arnie jumping into the past to save John, it's about the aftermath, it's about John and Mankind versus the machines. The T-800 is still part of the story, but the man machine war will take the spotlight this time. And just so you will be happy, they are going to use Arnie's voice and face on Ronald's body, they want a younger looking arnold, so it will still be good.

this trailer is really bugging me, i swear there are no glimpses as epic or apocalyptic as the flashes we got of the war between man and machine in the original movies. iw as hoping for sequences on the scale of destruction you see on earth in the third matrix for example

This is set in a different time. The flashes in the other films were from further in the future, at the turn of the war, when we start to win thanks to Connor. Salvation is set a LONG time before then. The next three films build up to what you're asking for. We will get to see the different terminators get created etc.

I believe atm they are attempting to do a computer splicing sort of thing with Arnold and another Austrian body builder who acted as Arnold in a documentary. Arnie can't actually act though, but he went in for a day for some scans so they could use those scans for the merging.
