The .Suzuki V-Strom 650 is far superior in design in this category. For instance, any shaft driven V twin should be transvers mounted in the frame for efficiency, i.e., the drive shaft on the Honda should revolve in the same direction as the engine's crankshaft. Instead, Honda uses an inefficient right angle power converter (like the differential on a real wheel drive car) in 2 places on this nt700 Honda. Suzuki's engine itself and final drive is superior in design.
@simon44 I agree! I think there should be 2 versions, this one, and another one with a different engine but the same weight / dimensions, kind of like it happens with the CBF models. Then you could choose a model either oriented for speed, or for economy ;)
Wow! I am an owner of a 1990 Honda PC 800 - Pacific Coast. This is definitely the resurrection of that great bike. I had always hope that Honda would reintroduce the concept. I hope the NT 700 gains great success!
To the gent that asked earlier - The running lights are a Honda aftermarket option in the UK, nothing yet is available for the US version aside from heated grips. And by the way, ths side cases are not wide enough to hold a full face helmet. In the UK again you'll see that wider case covers are available as an option. Sucks to be American for now.
Deauville is very nice.. but i like how the Older models look more.. they where like 40% Sport and 60% Touring Comfort.. now its like 30% Offroad 20% Sport and 50% Toruing :P
hey im thinking about getting one of these and am struggling to get a reliable mpg for about this age of deauville. anyone help me out if uve got one. like motorway cruising m,pg and B road mpg.
This bike does not do anything perfect, but everyting good. So is perfect.

What a shitty bike. It doesn't have any sense.

@BoringBoris The V-Strom is a pretty much pointless bike, people buy it because its cheap

I don't much care for the weird color changing visuals.

I really like this bike as a great all-rounder.
Does anyone know if it gets buzzy or vibrates at highway speeds?

Did those extra road lights come stock on the bike? If added, what type are they? They are perfect.

All touring bikes should have running lights like in this video.

slow the beat down a little bit and you've got great porn-movie-music.
great bikes by the way, ABS is a really REALLY good thing to have on a bike. I've ridden many bikes but bikes with ABS are so much safer.

This bike has in theory has got all I want:
- 2 Cilinder engine.
- Medium engine size (< or =800cc).
- Shaft transmission.
- Tourer fairing and driving position.
If only anyone could add to the said qualities a weight of around 200 kg or less and an updated engine I'd buy it without hesitation.

Heres some more
- No Chain ( Kardan )
- Most Comfortable 650
- Newer ones have Adjustable Windshield
- Easiest Clutch i ever tried
- Lots of room for extra things... with the inbuilt bags...
