One take I have on the "Were you there?" is that every crime which was solved through DNA (I'd expand to say science but even a zealot can understand fingerprints) would then require a witness. DNA testing is even more advanced than carbon and other radiometric dating but the faithful will allow it for forensic evidence.
My fave is the JW's who won't allow medical treatment in favor of prayer. That seems the most consistent of the faithful; you can't pick and choose for a doctor to 'play God'
Some of the most educated people in history were believers in G-d. Many people who are deeply reigious believe in evolution. People, stop thumbing down those who ask why chimps aren't evolving into humans today. It's not their fault, it's the fault of the damn film-makers who implied in this vid that modern humans ARE evolved from modern chimps! Therefore, people are actually RIGHT to ask that question. By all means correct them, but thumbing down is a bit uncalled for.
Because we did not evolve from them - we evolved from a common ancestor - we have potentially evolved further being now largely hairless and having much bigger brains but basically a modern chimpanzee is not our ancestor they are our cousins. I actually when I watched this trailer thought "uh, they have fallen for that trap again" - but the common ancestor is no longer around so that makes it difficult to picture.
because the WHOLE species didn't move out of the forest. The ones that did developed over time, and the chimps still in the forest remained as chimps.
