what the hell? i went here in 2002 when i was 12 years old and they didnt have half this stuff such as the waterpark, waterslide, and the giant inflatable mountain. it was still fun though!
I was there on Tuesday last week. The Freedom of the Seas dropped 100's of pallets of everyting from water to communication devices. We even had an onboard donation to give even more. The armed UN troops picked it up in trucks and escorted to Port Au Prince.
Actually each ships arriving to Labadee will arrive with ALOT of supplies for the needing in the devestated areas. So yeah they are doing alot of good. Donated $1 million.
wait a minute, what you guys are saying? shut down Haiti's tourism product?so send the other cities in limbo and the people home?I cannot believe it.Let me tell you Haiti is now in a program to develop its tourism so please allow ROYAL CARIBEAN to do it's business.
Yes, they are still making regular scheduled stops to this port. It was decided not to abandon the 300 Hatians they employ at this time, which I have to agree with.
@travelwithkids I know! Why isolate the poor people? The earthquake didn't really affect Labadee anyway but the city side of Haiti. People shouldn't feel guilty when Royal Caribbean just built a school in Haiti which they sponsor. It's still a beautiful place to visit but people shouldn't stop just because the people faced major destruction.
Funny. I'm sure you realized this video for the Travel with Kid Cruise DVD was filmed last year and posted 8 months ago. Royal Caribbean is continuing to dock at this port. Good for locals who continue have jobs in the coming months. The ships are bringing relief supplies. They employ 500 Hatians at this port. Odd to be living it up while thousands are suffering just 60 miles away? Probably, but I think it would be worse to pull out and shut down the port at this point.
bsolute scum. port of prince harbour is unusable. WHY is this harbour NOT being used for the relief effort? these scum floating around on their polluting monstrocities with their armed guards deserved to be stormed by the people. I will be posting about it on every Haitin site I can find and giving directions.
Point well taken. However, the Labadee "port" is not a port at all. The ships have to stay 15 minutes off shore because they are too big to dock in fact, there is no dock, but a small concrete jetty big enough for a couple of locals to tie up their row boats. I stood on it to take some of this video. The large ships are offloading some supplies to smaller boats and bringing them ashore, but this is 60 miles away from the capital, and the trucks would be attacked and looted No easy solution.
love it

Dear All,
I have a question of psychology:
* Why do humans wnat to design and to build big crusie but other naimals do not?
I mean that other specious of animals will never dream of build a cruise, not even a small boat.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
P.S. I was in the Legal of the Sea last week for holiday. It is maller but it is very good.
