In the uncut version, Strike blows up the new president as he drives away in his car. It's a pretty silly looking shot since it's obviously a toy car.
The only real genuinely interesting moment in the movie was right there at the end when the kid, who seems to have lived his whole life underground, decides that he doesn't like the surface and decides that he wants to go back. For some reason, I found that to be interesting.
Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx.....Leave Bronx....Baby Leave Bronx...OOhhhh, Leave Bronx...Aahhhh, Leave Bronx...Leave Bronx....I said Leave Bronx....Come on, Leave Bronx...Baby leave Bronx...Leeeeeaaaaaaaaavvvvvvvveeeee.....Some day love will find you, Break those chains that bind you,One night will remind you, How we left, And went OUR SEPERATE waaaaaayyyyysssss..AAAAAAYYYSSSS!
So is it me or was the plot of this entire movie pointless? I mean, nothing changed, the Bronx is still going to be destroyed. It's just a different guy doing it now.
@lobsopdoy They were probably trying to set it up so there would be a sequel to this whole "leave the Bronx" saga. The continuing adventures of Trash or something like that.
I could be wrong but I'm almost positive that this movie is a sequel-if it isn't, then I know there is a sequel to it because there are two of these "bronx warriors" movies as listed in the psychotronic encyclopedia of film-and escape 2,0000 is not this movies original name.
@trapadoored This is a sequal to "The Bronx Warriors". Other titles for it are "The Bronx Warriors 2" and "Escape from the Bronx". It's actually part of a trilogy, the 3rd one being "Warriors of the Wasteland", aka "The New Barbarians". Not sure the reason for all the multiple titles, but I think it has something to with the Italian translation or title conflicts with other films when it gets distributed in the US.
In any case, seems the creators of these movies really don't like the Bronx.
@raith0818 Just to make things even more confusing, it's worth noting that there's also another film called "Endgame" in english but it's italian title is "BRONX LOTTA FINALE".
It has NOTHING to do with the other "Bronx" films whatsoever and yet it's also set in the urban decay of a Mad Max-ish future (presumably the titular BRONX) with a sort of Running Man rip-off thrown in for good measure.
If you do a search for it, it's actually up on Youtube (but you have to provide your own riffing!)
@lobsopdoy Well, lots of movies end like that. It's one of those "Return of the Jedi" situations - sure, a fairly major blow has been struck against the big bad organization, but there's still a whole lot of them left. I would guess that the writer would say that it's just supposed to be a snapshot of the experience of a single individual in the midst of a larger struggle.
Great, all that so they could stay in the Bronx? A pyrrhic victory. Would there ever be a memorial to the fallen..'they gave their lives so we could, ah, continue to live, er, here in the Bronx'.
I love love LOVE when Servo sings....I gotta agree though, the Rowsdower song is my favorite. I still sing that randomly to myself...and get strange looks. But I can't help it if it's stuck in my head!
There is an internet radio show called Death By DVD, a horror review show with a splash of comedy. This week they are doing a tribute to Mystery Science Theater 3000! You can find them on the website blog talk radio!
One of my most favorite Kevin Murphy moments EVER!!!!!!! He does such a great 80's white guy singing LEAVE BRONX, then totally out of nowhere he starts doing "Separate Ways"!!! I went nuts the first time I saw this film! So Awsome!
Y'know, every time I hear "Seperate Ways" on the radio now, it always makes me laugh. I can't listen to it anymore without hearing Kevin Murphy singing it!
@rayden120 Maybe so, but I'll always remember this particular one. Kevin belted it out with such style that it rates the winning spot in my mind...but to each his own!
It seems the director and and crew just forgot all about the plot and instead went with silver guys jumping around and explosions. I think I know where Mr. Bay get's his inspriation!
So, I looked up the guy who played Trash, just out of curiosity, and apparently, no one knows where he is. He disappeared from public life back in 1989 after this movie was made. There was a public pleas for his return made by the director in 2004. Weird.
Truth is, the guy who played Trash was actually bigfoot, he merely shaved his face and body to play this role. Once filming ended, he returned to the Canadian wilderness to let his fur grow back in.
Wow, this ending really didn't resolve anything. They built up a lot of different aspects of the story, but they just forgot about them at some point while they were choreographing the leaping silver dudes.
My coworkers and I sing the Leave the Bronx song when we're almost done with our shifts and we want to go home. It's so awesome!! We get weird looks, but it's totally worth it.
Crow and Servo singing had me laughing so friggin hard! XD
Also what a terrible Fucking movie, with explosions every 10 seconds, ugly annoying black hair lady, guys falling in slow motion, and no plot to be found anywhere.
I wanted Henry Silva to survive, and Richard Dreyfuss, and "Nosferatu." A lot more than Steven Tyler, Bruce Springsteen and Ricardo Montalban. And instead, the opposite happened!
As for the kid, he makes me miss the kids in every single Gamera movie!
If you think about it, this movie ends as a win for the bad guys.
Most of the Bronx is destroyed and most of it's inhabitants are either lying dead in the streets, hiding underground or have been "disinfestated". Trash is now utterly alone.
Meanwhile, slime-ball McGee is now president of the The Really Big Company of America having assissinated the previous (possibly sympathetic) President, leaving him free to step up his plans for the Bronx.
@NUTCASE71733 Pearl is Dr. Forrester's mom? I thought she was just the same actress playing a younger relative of Dr. Forrester; she looks younger and different than the mom from before.
The 'Leave the Bronx' song is quite possibly the funniest song of MST3K ever. I was laughing so hard I cried, and it got even better with the Journey reference. Awesome. Remember to leave the Bronx, everyone.
Every time I hear Separate Ways, I know break out into both Literal Video lyrics AND Leave Bronx!
