  • WOOOO!!!! Hope you all went to see the second touring by NTS (2010-2011) It's fantastic!!! Even better than the original! 8D Ahhh!, I love this play so much!!!

(Way too many exclimation marks in that comment XD)

  • These lads are SCOTTISH.

The whole concept of the play is that it highlights in a huge way the Scottish mentality to war, Scotland was incredibaly tribal, and to a degree still is. The point is, you have to remember they are Scottish, thats why there are so many references to Scotland, and the Scottish culture, to say these men are British, is to totally miss the point the playwrite was trying to make.

  • @Nickmanq Well, they're from Scotland. They're not exactly going to make refferences to Wales are they?

  • @grobo11

No they are not, which is why these guys should be regarded as Scots, not Brits.

  • @Nickmanq But they are Scottish and British. Their ethnicity is Scottish and their nationality is British just like the Welsh have Welsh as their ethnicity and British as their nationality and the English have English as their ethnicity and British as their nationality.

  • @grobo11

They are both. But the focus of the play is the fact that they are Scots.

Thats why there is such empthasis on Scottish culture. To call their culture British, is a generalisation, and a poor one at that.

  • @Nickmanq Alright, I understand where you're coming from now.

  • @Nickmanq Scottish culture is part of british culture, no "poor generalisation" there

  • @sprPee

Correct, however to state that the play is about British culture is a generalisation, as it clearly focuses on Scot's, ignoring the other areas of Britain (England, N.Ireland and Wales). It's a poor generalisation as, to a British person, there's a huge gulf in our cultures.

  • @grobo11

dont forget northern irish mate ...our fair number of boys have fought and died under the union jack

  • @Nickmanq yea scots in the scottish army.... oh wait

  • my grandad was in the black watch for a short time in ww2 so wht if hes english britain its scotland england wales

  • hoy gets uk money so y not rest us cheer for him.o yes bye the way he trains in england hahahha

  • were English but collectively were Brits do you understand ?

  • Hah! Typical English attitude! Taking pride in the things that they havnt achieved. Lets take Chris Hoy for example, he won however many gold medals in the Olympics, and he's regarder as "British", but as soon as an Englishman wins a medal, hes English and England is the greatest nation on Earth!

  • Can you provide evidence for such a claim? This seems to be more to do with the inferiority complex of regional separatists. Sure England, if we put things under the microscope is the greatest nation on earth. But your claim doesn't seem to quite match up. Most of the world regards The Beatles as the greatest band ever, despise being from Liverpool their genre is "British Invasion", not "English Invasion". The spoils of glory are shared when it comes to Britain.

  • "Can you provide evidence for such a claim?"

Watch the DVD's Extra features mate. Most of the recruits in the Black Watch came from Tayside and Fife. FACT! Also, there is a scene in Black Watch that corroborates my claim about their friendship: "STEWART: I fought for my friends" See? And, the Beatles are the greatest band ever in people's opinion, not a fact, unlike the recruitment stats for the Black Watch. Plus, the best band ever is Poison :D

  • lots of americans take pride in "rescuing europe" in ww2 (europe doesnt see it that way at all)...yet most of th ones who do havnt done a damn thing. Same with iraq, and same with afganistan

but thats the same for every nation and its people. not just american or british.

  • @cooldudecam people who voted this up must be ignorant inbred wankers, Scotland is part of Britain, you fookin cunt!

  • @cooldudecam i was on a ferry to belgium with my school and wimbolden was on the telly, andy murray had just lost and a man stood up and said "you scottish bastard!" i thought it was quite funny :')

  • the blackwatch is a british army regiment, just like pwrr are a british army regiment, theres no such thing as the scottish or english army. So stop crying

  • "Black Watch british army"

SCOTTISH army mate. Founded by Scotland pal.

Originally, the Black Watch was formed as a sort of policing unit to enforce a curfew.

  • Still a part of the British Army and their wages are paid by the Britsh people not just the Scots... and will continue to be until you leave the the UK (hopefully). If they hadn't been a part of the British Army, they wouldn't have such a famous past.

  • people here in the UK who see them selves as scots or englishmen tend to have watched too much braveheart!

im british i live in scotland, the day the UK breaks up is the day i leave! im proud of my scottish heritage but i consider my self a brit not a porridge wog!

  • Yeah exactly the same here, if the ignorant and immature independence lobby win, i'm outta here.

  • I'll remain a BRITISH citizen all my life, because I am British 100%. If the traitors do get devolution in any part of Britain, I'll have to get joint-citizenship won't i?

  • @RumassianStateMedia Exactly. Proud to call you my British brother.

  • It's not an insult, you have no idea what you're talking about please shut up and never post on these matters again.

  • To call the black watch British is not an Insult Because they are BRITISH! and are apart of the british army even thou they are scottish they are still British.

    BRITISH =ENGLAND,WALES,SCOTLAND

  • @WorldFrontlineMedia ........Northern Ireland has been nuked?
