In response to inquiries, the Emperor prototypes ended up being rejected by the JKA and the product has been cancelled before release. The Taiyos were approved by the JKA and are available in Japan. We are holding off selling them in the United States until the in-flux U.S. product safety regulations settle down.
The official name is apparently going back to "Emperor," with a smaller kendama to be named the "Taiyo." The Emperor is 33 cm with an 11 cm ball, and the Taiyo is 24 cm with an 8 cm ball. The Taiyo is slated for a late September release. The Emperor is awaiting final JKA approval.
There will be three sizes of jumbos. The Taiyo is this one, and a larger one will be called the Emperor.
Because the shape is the same as the JKA competition kendama, which is protected by a design patent, they had to get JKA approval, which they have just received. These will carry the JKA Recommended Product seal on the ken, just like the 5-cup kendamas.
We will be doing some product photography next week, and then some videos. As soon as we can get them in stock, we'll put them on our site.
A correction: We originally called this upcoming kendama design the Emperor. It turns out that it's going to be called the Taiyo. There is another, even larger kendama slated for release that will be called the Emperor. See the updated description.
