Death and destruction is absolutely beautiful. It has been the determining factor of human progress. It is the way of the universe, and it projects its nature on all levels, scales, and dimensions. Survival of the fittest, prosperity of the righteous. Zillions of neurons among billions of humans. We are the universe perceiving itself, acting itself out. Life is the story. The eternal story, the eternal struggle for peace and enlightenment.
@venturidesign In your opinion it isn't. People start wars over land, in order to have resources. People fight back in order to keep their land and resources. War isn't useless, it is just outdated and generally for the wrong reasons.
@KeaneAddict wait ithinks its both songs the first one is "let men burn stars" and the second "slight night shiver"... they are both on the "Before the Dawn Heals Us" album. :) (:
It's almost time for the consumer eating glutons to ask for advice from the producer starved martyrs (and vice versa) and if it isn't almost time I fear that the inflationary bubble might pop and then we might have to get rid of highly explosive resources by creating labor to produce them and deploy them away from our isolated selves.
Slight Night Shiver works, yes. A calm music which correspond of those images, soldiers who ended the Italian campain, and Italian who are now able to live without the fascist dictature. A great video.
I am not Catholic, but I believe it is St. Joseph. He is considered the model of a believer who receives grace at the moment of death (from Wikipedia).
Taycuhtoe, let me let you in on a little secret, World War II is modern warfare. The use of ballistic missiles (Germans), remote control guided bombs (Germans), night vision devices (Americans), mass production assembly lines (Americans), combined arms warfare (all sides), numerous conventional weapon advances(VT Fuzes, heavy tanks, super subs, radar,ECM, etc), jet aircraft (Germans), Nuclear weapons (Americans). The principles that every modern army practices today were tested during WWII.
I disagree. I think the Slight Night Shiver segment is perfect because it brings back the sadness and reality of war. The first section almost makes war look beautiful.
And I completely disagree with what you are saying. I think the Slight Night Shiver section detracts from the reality, as the noises of the cars and motorcycles give a more modern and metropolitan image. Also, how do you know the creator isn't trying to make war look beautiful? - I must say I can't see this, anyway.
I liked the video because I they showed them loading and firing a M115 8 inch towed howitzer, like the one outside my office that is now just used as a military display.
Wow, what an awesome video. This fighting is from the Italian campaign, probably the fight for the monastery at Monte Cassino. The fighting was particular bloody because the Germans owned the high ground.
As far as the little kid that thought he saw a nuke in the video, that is saturation carpet bombing with white phosphorous incediary bombs, no nukes were used in the European theater, pay attention in your six grade history class and do your homework little boy.
Have the music be "Let Men Burn Stars" and begin by showing an aerial view of a battlefield then when the singing kicks in pan out to a lone airplane flying over this battle and follow it as it moves over the countryside until near the end of the song (1:48 in this video) you see it pass over either another battlefield or (in a sadder taste) a big city and it drops an atomic bomb then fades to black once the music ends (hopefully before a detonation).
Outstanding video. There couldn't be a more sharply contrasting duo between audio and visual elements than this video. Footage of death and destruction paired up with tranquil sounds that would best be suited to video of the Northern Lights on a calm, clear, and cool arctic night. Brilliant little video project you created here. Thanks for posting. ~ Jay
man, had you juxtaposed the war footage with firework displays it would've been great. i always found the song to be eerily aware of the two complete opposite emotions the different explosions evoke

I got goose bumps from 2:24 to 2:39 when the soldier looks up slightly after the atomic bomb has gone off.
