The Illuminati, Freemasons, The CFR, The Trilateral Commission, The Knights of Malta, many numerous branches are all traced back to the present day Vatican, the present day Roman Catholic Church!
Once again the intent has not changed one bit, Power!!!
The Roman Catholic Church has become more sophisticated behind the mask of religion and tradition.
Let us go back as far as 70 A.D. when the Roman army under General Titus invaded the City of Jerusalem. The objective has not changed much from then to the present. The objective The temple of Janus, statue of Jupiter and statue of Venus were given a facelift so to speak along with new names.
The Roman Catholic Church is supportive of labor unions, which the labor unions do violate God's Word. If the pope has the mine of Christ and is speaking for him, then why can't he see that labor unions do not stand for anything that goes along God's Word. Shows he is just a man.
@DerektheDuctTa Guy Fawkes and the other conspirators were Roman Catholics trying to kill King James and attack England because of their printing of the King James Bible. Rome and England were the bitterest of enemies. Protestant England was taking the gospel to the world through her rising empire and Rome was not about to let that happen. This is why when Alex Jones and others blame Great Britian and the bankers, it is just another attack on the once mighty empire that helped spread the truth
Nothing enrages the brotherhood more than if you remind them about the Trintiy, that Christ is God. They'll have a fit! It's hilarious. It makes perfect sense when you read their leader's books that explain Lucifer is their god.
They tried so hard over the centuries to change the name of God. When you break their secret, they shit their pants. Try it!

@goinghomesomeday1 --some say that water baptism is needed for initial justification, some reject it; some say you must be fully immersed in water while some say pouring is ok; some baptise in the name of Jesus only while the majority are trinitarian; some say that baptism does nothing, some say baptism makes you a member of the covenant only; some have reduced salvation to what all churches agree on, while some have said otherwise.

@martlut - Wrong again!!!! I don't hate jews, I may not like the jews, but as for hating them NO. In fact I don't hate anybody, it's un-Christian to do so. As you are a Roman Catholic you may not be too well informed as to Christianity!!!!!

@martlut - Na - we used Catholic ink on Catholic lavatory paper which like the Catholic church was pure rubbish. Then we used real paper and non papist ink and wrote the real Bible! Come on boy - get real and live in the real world and read a real Bible and don’t be taken in by all that Catholic mind bending bullshit.

Did you know that Pope Pius XII had a flunky tell the Catholic world that during three days at the end of October 1950.. Our Lady of Fatima appeared to him and demanded that he push the USA into starting World War III by attacking Russia and dropping atomic bombs.?
He claimed that on October 29,30 and 31st, the sun spun counterclockwise and bounced from the eastern horizon to the western horizon repetitively as Our Lady told him to demand World War III to retake Russia for the CAtholic Church
So what does making the sign of the cross do for anyone? Jesus said out of your bellies shall flow rivers of living waterJohn7:38. This phenomena does not happen while making the sign of the cross. It does not happen while making prayers to saints of the most high God. Why would you pray to anyone else, but Jesus? No, but it happens when you repent, and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost."Acts2:38 This is the truth!
THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE WHORE OF BABYLON WHO HAS COMMITED FORNICATION WITH THE KINGS OF THE EARTH AND HAS BECOME DRUNK ON THE BLOOD OF THE SAINTS.
Catholic priest are the most highly trained pedophiles on the planet. One can't find men more willing and dedicated to the destruction of young male ass. This tradition is as old as the church itself, and examples of these works can be seen around the world. The Pope knows what is best, and his decisions must go unquestioned. It would be best for all Catholics to give their lives to God, but give their ass to the priest! ALL HAIL THE CATHOLIC ASS BLASTERS! ...JUST STFU, AND BEND OVER!
So, if there can be nothing wrong with honoring the living, who still have an opportunity to ruin their lives through sin, there certainly can be no argument against giving honor to saints whose lives are done and who ended them in sanctity. If people should be honored in general, God’s special friends certainly should be honored.
Christ himself promised special blessings to those who honor religious figures: "He who receives a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward, and he who receives a righteous man [saint] because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward" (Matt. 10:41).
hey you can honour others alive and dead but you can't make statues dedicated to them. For the second commantment is you shall make no graven idol in the form of any image in heaven or on earth, you shall not bow down to them or serve them. do not make images of past saints and bow down to them that is idolitry!!!!
@rianpop You can ask any catholic scholar or a back country catholic. They will all say we do not worship saints but honor them. Saint's must have 2 miracles confirmed by the vatican. I think you should do your history instead of coming on to catholics with ignorance. The smartest christians scholars are catholic. We were the first christian church and help millions of suffering children around the world. We are 1 billion strong we are catholics.
listen buddy Exodus 20 says you shall neither Bow down to them or serve them. I never said anything about worship, but you have taken this "honouring" of dead saints too far. its all a cash cow just for making money, people put ads in classifieds with blasphemous words that should only be used for Christ Jesus. you think I'm ignorant? HA my own pastor was a former Catholic and taught a 7 week coarse on the heresy of Catholicism. The pope has usurped the place of God calling himself holy father.
And you shouldn't go boasting about Catholic scholars being smart and you church being first and having 1 billion members. first off your scholars are only as good as the god they have faith in and since they spend their time praying in the name of the pope and Mary and saints they have an awful lot of tradition getting in the way of Jesus Christ. the fact that you were first is a joke. for one the idea that Peter was a "pope" is stupid. there is no Biblical evidence he was ever in Rome.
@rianpop i don't really know what your trying to prove. sorry i forgot to ask what was your faith? I pretty much want to stop arguing with you because Jesus died today i want to give him respect he deserves. You do know Catholics are aware of many religions right and special the history on them. I don't about you but how old is your church i'm guessing 200 300 years old and catholics go all the way back to 100 AD.
numbers don't mean a thing. Mother teresa had all sorts of idols from other religions hanging around her house. do you think Gods gonna let her into heaven for worshipping other false gods? many Catholics in south america and africa, and asia hold on to their former faiths and deny Jesus Christ true Lordship in their lives.
Perhaps the broadest command to honor others is found in 1 Peter: "Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor" (1 Pet. 2:17).
The New Testament also stresses the importance of honoring religious figures. Paul spoke of the need to give them special honor in 1 Timothy: "Let the presbyters [priests] who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching" (1 Tim. 5:17).
He also stated this as a principle regarding one’s employers: "Slaves, be obedient to those who are your earthly masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart, as to Christ" (Eph. 6:5). "Let all who are under the yoke of slavery regard their masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be defamed" (1 Tim. 6:1).
It was also important to specially honor religious leaders: "Make sacred garments for your brother Aaron [the high priest], to give him dignity and honor" (Ex. 28:2).
The New Testament stresses the importance of honoring others no less than the Old Testament. The apostle Paul commanded: "Pay all of them their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due" (Rom. 13:7).
S-@axejamin1------God considered this command so important that he repeated it multiple times in the Bible (for example, Lev. 19:3, Deut. 5:16, Matt. 15:4, Luke 18:20, and Eph. 6:2–3). It was also important to give honor to one’s elders in general: "You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord" (Lev. 19:32).
These practices are entirely Biblical. We are explicitly commanded at numerous points in the Bible to honor certain people. One of the most important commands on this subject is the command to honor one’s parents: "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you" (Ex. 20:12).
And just about anyone, living or dead, who bears an exalted rank is said to be worthy of honor, and this is particularly true of historical figures, as when children are (or at least used to be) instructed to honor the Founding Fathers of America.
Consider how honor is given. We regularly give it to public officials.
In the United States it is customary to address a judge as "Your Honor."
In the marriage ceremony it used to be said that the wife would "love, honor, and obey" her husband. Letters to legislators are addressed to "The Honorable So-and-So."
And in Exodus 18:7, Moses honored his father-in-law, Jethro: "Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and worshiped [shakhah] him and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare, and went into the tent." Yet none of these passages were discussing the worship of adoration, the kind of worship given to God alone.
In Genesis 49:2-27, Jacob pronounced a prophetic blessing on his sons, and concerning Judah he stated: "Judah, your brothers shall praise you; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s sons shall worship [shakhah] you (49:8).
In Hebrew, the term for worship is shakhah. It is appropriately used for humans in a large number of passages.
For example, in Genesis 37:7–9 Joseph relates two dreams that God gave him concerning how his family would honor him in coming years. Translated literally the passage states: "‘[B]ehold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and lo, my sheaf arose and stood upright; and behold, your sheaves gathered round it, and worshiped [shakhah] my sheaf.’ . . .
The term "worship" was used in the same way in the Bible that it used to be used in English. It could cover both the adoration given to God alone and the honor that is to be shown to certain human beings.
This is tremendously false, of course, but the education in anti-Catholic prejudice is so strong that one must patiently explain that Catholics do not worship anyone but GOD—at least given the contemporary use of the term.
The Church is very strict about the fact that latria, adoration—what contemporary English speakers call "WORSHIP"—is to be given ONLY to God.
Unfortunately, many non-Catholics have been so schooled in hostility toward the Church that they appear unable or unwilling to recognize these distinctions. They confidently (often arrogantly) assert that Catholics "worship" Mary and the saints, and, in so doing, commit idolatry.
All of these terms—latria, dulia, hyperdulia—used to be lumped under the one English word "worship." Sometimes when one reads old books discussing the subject of how particular persons are to be honored, they will qualify the word "worship" by referring to "the worship of latria" or "the worship of dulia."
To contemporaries and to those not familiar with the history of these terms, however, this is too confusing.
This term, hyperdulia (huper [more than]+ dulia = "beyond dulia"), indicates that the honor due to her as Christ’s own Mother is more than the dulia given to other saints. It is greater in degree, but still of the same kind. However, since Mary is a finite creature, the honor she is due is fundamentally different in kind from the latria owed to the infinite Creator.
especially those who lived and died in God’s friendship—in other words, the saints. Scripture indicates that honor is due to these individuals (Matt. 10:41b).
A special term was coined to refer to the special honor given to the Virgin Mary, who bore Jesus—God in the flesh—in her womb.
In Scripture, the term "worship" was similarly broad in meaning, but in the early Christian centuries, theologians began to differentiate between different types of honor in order to make more clear which is due to God and which is not. As the terminology of Christian theology developed, the Greek term latria came to be used to refer to the honor that is due to God alone, and the term dulia came to refer to the honor that is due to human beings,
This change in usage is quite recent. In fact, one can still find books that use "worship" in the older, broader sense. This can lead to a significant degree of confusion, when people who are familiar only with the use of words in their own day and their own circles encounter material written in other times and other places.
C-@axejamin1 (in fact, they may even despise a particular magistrate they are addressing). It means they are giving them the honor appropriate to their office, not the honor appropriate to God. Outside of this example, however, the English term "worship" has been narrowed in scope to indicate only that supreme form of honor, reverence, and respect that is due to God.
For many centuries, the term worship simply meant showing respect or honor, and an example of this usage survives in contemporary English. British subjects refer to their magistrates as "Your Worship," although Americans would say "Your Honor." This doesn’t mean that British subjects worship their magistrates as gods
The word "worship" has undergone a change in meaning in English. It comes from the Old English weorthscipe, which means the condition of being worthy of honor, respect, or dignity. To worship in the older, larger sense is to ascribe honor, worth, or excellence to someone, whether a sage, a magistrate, or God.
The worship of Mary and the saints is a misconception among many believers including myself until i talked to my cousin who explained it USING SCRIPTURE. Makes me wonder how many other misconceptions on the Catholic Church there are.
1-@axejamin1 You have a poor understanding of Catholicism . The Creator alone is God.
Mary is as much a creature as any other human being. But whilst she is as much a creature as we are, we have not been honored by God nearly as much as she.
You have a misconception of what Catholicism teaches
1-We do not pray to Mary INSTEAD of to God, but WE pray to her as well as to God. And those who retain devotion to Mary are in the habit of offering more prayers directly to God than those who have repudiated devotion to Mary.
3-@axejamin1 Moreover, prayers to Mary are prayers to God through her intercession. And you cannot deny that at times it is good to have our Lady praying with us rather than to pray alone to God. Two prayers are better than one, above all when the other whom I have asked to join in my petition is the very Mother of Christ.
4-@axejamin1 Christ has not made all the intercession that is necessary. If so, why does St. James writing well after the Ascension of Christ from this world and under the inspiration of God, write V., 16, "Pray one for another that you may be saved.
There are many secondary mediators who derive their power from Christ and retain it in and through Christ. That this is so is evident from Acts XII., 5, where Christians offered prayer without ceasing for St. Peter who was in prison. St. Paul wrote to the Corinthians, "We pray that you may do no evil." He was interceding for them. To Philemon he wrote, "I hope that through your prayers I shall be given to you."
To the Hebrews XIII., 18, he wrote asking their prayers for him. "Pray for us," he writes; "for we hope to have a good conscience and behave well in all things."Again St. Paul wrote to the Romans XV., 30, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, through our Lord Jesus Christ and by the charity of the Holy Spirit, that you help me in your prayers for me to God." Was St. Paul relying on their help rather than on the merits of Christ? No.
But Christ had said, "I am the vine, you are the branches," i. e., branches deriving their life and value from Him. Each member is incorporated in Christ, and Christ lives in His members. Consequently, any value in the prayers of others is derived from Christ, and in this sense St. Paul wrote to the Christians at Rome, "I beseech you, help me by your prayers for me to God."
And he certainly hoped to benefit by the medium of their prayers for him.The principle then is Scriptural that we may benefit by each other's prayers. It is certain, also, that the prayer of a saintly person added to my own will deserve more graces than my own prayers alone could do.Whose prayers will I ask?
St. Paul asked his fellow Christians in Rome to pray for him to God. We also may do that. Also, in virtue of the Communion of Saints, we may ask the intercession of souls already in heaven with God, and what better than to ask the prayers of Mary, the very Mother of Christ.
WASHINGTON – The Jesuit order has agreed to ay more than $166 million to the more than 500 victims who suffered sexual abuse when they were kids in Catholic schools in five states of the U.S. northwest, the victims’ attorney said.
Most of those affected are Indians who suffered abuse at the hands of priests in what is known as the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus, which includes the states of Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Montana, according to the local press.

CMR's annual surveys of about 1,000 churches nationwide have sought information on sexual abuse since 1993. Surveys for the last decade have averaged 70 cases a week.
"The Catholics have gotten all the attention from the media, but this problem is even greater with the Protestant churches simply because of their far larger numbers," said James Cobble, executive director of CMR.
We shouldn’t enjoy this Catholic mess too much. We’re waiting on the other shoe to drop, and when it does, don’t be surprised if there is more and more within our ranks.” Bob Welch Baptist convention
@goinghomesomeday1 gee maybe they should update since they get a lot of protection from those Baptists and not to mention the 60 plus denominations that accept openly gay pastors leading their flocks now. Gee nothing like homos getting hitched by homos in a church approved wedding..
@cadrolls - A pastor, who is also a Maryland registered sex offender, is again facing allegations of sex abuse after a teenage girl accused him of having sex with her inside his home and the church they attend,
According to police, the victim reported Corbin picked her up from her home to drive her to a fast-food establishment. They stopped at the church where they allegedly had sex inside a bathroom before Corbin drove her to the fast-food restaurant and later drove her to her home.
@martlut -- There’s a bad apple in every barrel, WoW but your lot seem to excel -

Now he will be known as a registered sex offender.

The Roman Catholic religion has, over its short life become a “euphoric” type of religion with its deities, trinkets and talismans. Within the followers of this type of religion you have very impressionable people as well as those who are unable to think for themselves, that is, they believe unquestionably what they are told. Such as Limbo. Purgatory, Plenary Indulgencies etc. With the Roman religion common sense is thin on the ground. It is a "guilt" ridden religion.
@martlut -- I have no desire to enter into a protracted discussion with you as you are un able to stick to a common point. Why you feel it necessary to mention the Protestant Church is beyond me.
In conclusion. the Roman church have made many a claim to legitimise its existence as a Christian church, however, the actual history is totally different..
May I be so bold as to suggest that you enter into a study period in relation to the founding of the various deities and churches. its beneficial
@goinghomesomeday1 and you clowns have made false claim after false claim about the one true church by the way who first coined the word christian LOL
Many people argue that the Catholic Church is not the Church founded by Jesus Christ beginning with Peter and the Apostles. One argument often made is that the phrase “Catholic Church” does not appear within the pages of Scripture.
Aside from the fact that this argument is weak since the words “trinity” and “Bible” are not contained in Holy Writ either, is it really true that the Catholic Church is not named in the Bible? Well, take a look at the following verse from the Acts of the Apostles, and decide for yourself:
ἡ μεν ουν εκκλησια καθ᾽ὁλης της ιουδαιας και γαλιλαιας και σαμαρειας ειχεν ειρηνην οικοδομουμενη και πορευομενη τω φοβω του κυριου, και τη παρακλησει του ἁγιου πνευματος επληθυνοντο.
@martlut - Having translater your Greek reply (Acts 9:31), it reads as follows.
"s While the church throughout the Galilee and Judaea and Samaria is constructed, and he had peace with fovo now walking with the Lord and the prayers of the Holy Spirit eplithynonto"
So the Church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was built up; and walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit it was multiplied.
From this text, we can see the Greek word “kath olays” which is rendered “Catholic” in modern English and the word “ekklaysiaye” which becomes “ecclesia” in English and is commonly translated as “church”.
εκκλησια καθ᾽ ὁλης = ekklaysiaye kath olays = “the church throughout all” = Catholic Church
It always strikes me as so strange that those who attack the Catholic Church must resort to lies and deceptions in their claims. If they had the Truth, why then don't they put it on display?
Inserting words that weren't in the original quotations to make points seems perfecly reasonable to anti-Catholics.
@BrianMason1000 and what idols are those surely you can provided a prayer or two showing that Christ was replaced by an Idol and worshiped as god otherwise your either Stupid or a bigot or a third choice a stupid bigot your choice
@BrianMason1000 -- Hello Brian. This nut - *martlut* - is a 61 year old American fruit-cake who is un-able to hold a constructive discussion. You may as well be talking to a brick wall!, an American one, built of USA bullshit and mindless Catholicism
@goinghomesomeday1 Well I must disagree with you goinghomesomeday. Although as you say he is a "nut" he does have the right to speech. All I was trying to do is put a pebble in his/her shoe to read "The Word". There is no fingerpointing! Jesus is the way Only! Not Mary.
@BrianMason1000 -- Yes, I agree with you 100%. Yes, it was unchristian of me to refer to *marlut* as a nut etc. In relation to Mary, Jesus says it all in John 14:6 (KJV).
@martlut - I have no interest in nor intend to educating you about the church which you so vehemently support. Read up on its history yourself, -- NOT THE HISTORY WRITTEN BY THE ROMAN CHURCH ITSELF -- but the history written by noted international historians. A good place to start might be with the Bible.
@goinghomesomeday1 yes please dont educate me yup read up on history yup history not written by the catholic church yup the bible a Catholic Book compiled by Catholics for Catholics under apostolic tradition.

In 1545 the Council of Trent was put together as a counter-reformation to the protestant movement.
Since then many counter-reformations were organized with the intent to infiltrate the protestant churches, to the present Council of Churches.

So, if there can be nothing wrong with honoring the living, who still have an opportunity to ruin their lives through sin, there certainly can be no argument against giving honor to saints whose lives are done and who ended them in sanctity. If people should be honored in general, God’s special friends certainly should be honored.
Gatta9 11 months ago

Christ himself promised special blessings to those who honor religious figures: "He who receives a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward, and he who receives a righteous man [saint] because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward" (Matt. 10:41).
Gatta9 11 months ago
hey you can honour others alive and dead but you can't make statues dedicated to them. For the second commantment is you shall make no graven idol in the form of any image in heaven or on earth, you shall not bow down to them or serve them. do not make images of past saints and bow down to them that is idolitry!!!!
rianpop 10 months ago
@rianpop You can ask any catholic scholar or a back country catholic. They will all say we do not worship saints but honor them. Saint's must have 2 miracles confirmed by the vatican. I think you should do your history instead of coming on to catholics with ignorance. The smartest christians scholars are catholic. We were the first christian church and help millions of suffering children around the world. We are 1 billion strong we are catholics.
falloutroachdog 10 months ago
listen buddy Exodus 20 says you shall neither Bow down to them or serve them. The pope has usurped the place of God calling himself holy father.
rianpop 10 months ago
And you shouldn't go boasting about Catholic scholars being smart and you church being first and having 1 billion members. first off your scholars are only as good as the god they have faith in and since they spend their time praying in the name of the pope and Mary and saints they have an awful lot of tradition getting in the way of Jesus Christ. the fact that you were first is a joke. for one the idea that Peter was a "pope" is stupid. there is no Biblical evidence he was ever in Rome.
rianpop 10 months ago
@rianpop i don't really know what your trying to prove. sorry i forgot to ask what was your faith? I pretty much want to stop arguing with you because Jesus died today i want to give him respect he deserves. You do know Catholics are aware of many religions right and special the history on them. I don't about you but how old is your church i'm guessing 200 300 years old and catholics go all the way back to 100 AD.

Gatta9 11 months ago
U-@axejamin1
He also stated this as a principle regarding one’s employers: "Slaves, be obedient to those who are your earthly masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart, as to Christ" (Eph. 6:5). "Let all who are under the yoke of slavery regard their masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be defamed" (1 Tim. 6:1).
Gatta9 11 months ago
T-@axejamin1
It was also important to specially honor religious leaders: "Make sacred garments for your brother Aaron [the high priest], to give him dignity and honor" (Ex. 28:2).
The New Testament stresses the importance of honoring others no less than the Old Testament. The apostle Paul commanded: "Pay all of them their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due" (Rom. 13:7).
Gatta9 11 months ago
S-@axejamin1------God considered this command so important that he repeated it multiple times in the Bible (for example, Lev. 19:3, Deut. 5:16, Matt. 15:4, Luke 18:20, and Eph. 6:2–3). It was also important to give honor to one’s elders in general: "You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord" (Lev. 19:32).
Gatta9 11 months ago
R-@axejamin1
These practices are entirely Biblical. We are explicitly commanded at numerous points in the Bible to honor certain people. One of the most important commands on this subject is the command to honor one’s parents: "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you" (Ex. 20:12).
Gatta9 11 months ago
Q-@axejamin1
And just about anyone, living or dead, who bears an exalted rank is said to be worthy of honor, and this is particularly true of historical figures, as when children are (or at least used to be) instructed to honor the Founding Fathers of America.
Gatta9 11 months ago
P-@axejamin1
Consider how honor is given. We regularly give it to public officials.
In the United States it is customary to address a judge as "Your Honor."
In the marriage ceremony it used to be said that the wife would "love, honor, and obey" her husband. Letters to legislators are addressed to "The Honorable So-and-So."
Gatta9 11 months ago

And in Exodus 18:7, Moses honored his father-in-law, Jethro: "Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and worshiped [shakhah] him and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare, and went into the tent." Yet none of these passages were discussing the worship of adoration, the kind of worship given to God alone.
Gatta9 11 months ago
N-@axejamin1 continued ---
In Genesis 49:2-27, Jacob pronounced a prophetic blessing on his sons, and concerning Judah he stated: "Judah, your brothers shall praise you; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s sons shall worship [shakhah] you (49:8).

Then he dreamed another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, ‘Behold,
I have dreamed another dream; and behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were worshiping [shakhah] me.’"
Gatta9 11 months ago
L.-@axejamin1
In Hebrew, the term for worship is shakhah. It is appropriately used for humans in a large number of passages.
For example, in Genesis 37:7–9 Joseph relates two dreams that God gave him concerning how his family would honor him in coming years. Translated literally the passage states: "‘[B]ehold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and lo, my sheaf arose and stood upright; and behold, your sheaves gathered round it, and worshiped [shakhah] my sheaf.’ . . .
Gatta9 11 months ago
K.-@axejamin1
The term "worship" was used in the same way in the Bible that it used to be used in English. It could cover both the adoration given to God alone and the honor that is to be shown to certain human beings.
Gatta9 11 months ago
J-@axejamin1
This is tremendously false, of course, but the education in anti-Catholic prejudice is so strong that one must patiently explain that Catholics do not worship anyone but GOD—at least given the contemporary use of the term.
The Church is very strict about the fact that latria, adoration—what contemporary English speakers call "WORSHIP"—is to be given ONLY to God.
Gatta9 11 months ago
I-@axejamin1
Unfortunately, many non-Catholics have been so schooled in hostility toward the Church that they appear unable or unwilling to recognize these distinctions. They confidently (often arrogantly) assert that Catholics "worship" Mary and the saints, and, in so doing, commit idolatry.
Gatta9 11 months ago
H-@axejamin1 Continued --
All of these terms—latria, dulia, hyperdulia—used to be lumped under the one English word "worship." Sometimes when one reads old books discussing the subject of how particular persons are to be honored, they will qualify the word "worship" by referring to "the worship of latria" or "the worship of dulia."
To contemporaries and to those not familiar with the history of these terms, however, this is too confusing.
Gatta9 11 months ago
G-@axejamin1 Continued --
This term, hyperdulia (huper [more than]+ dulia = "beyond dulia"), indicates that the honor due to her as Christ’s own Mother is more than the dulia given to other saints. It is greater in degree, but still of the same kind. However, since Mary is a finite creature, the honor she is due is fundamentally different in kind from the latria owed to the infinite Creator.
Gatta9 11 months ago
F-@axejamin1 continued-
especially those who lived and died in God’s friendship—in other words, the saints. Scripture indicates that honor is due to these individuals (Matt. 10:41b).
A special term was coined to refer to the special honor given to the Virgin Mary, who bore Jesus—God in the flesh—in her womb.
Gatta9 11 months ago
E-@axejamin1
In Scripture, the term "worship" was similarly broad in meaning, but in the early Christian centuries, theologians began to differentiate between different types of honor in order to make more clear which is due to God and which is not. As the terminology of Christian theology developed, the Greek term latria came to be used to refer to the honor that is due to God alone, and the term dulia came to refer to the honor that is due to human beings,
Gatta9 11 months ago
D-@axejamin1
This change in usage is quite recent. In fact, one can still find books that use "worship" in the older, broader sense. This can lead to a significant degree of confusion, when people who are familiar only with the use of words in their own day and their own circles encounter material written in other times and other places.
Gatta9 11 months ago
C-@axejamin1 (in fact, they may even despise a particular magistrate they are addressing). It means they are giving them the honor appropriate to their office, not the honor appropriate to God. Outside of this example, however, the English term "worship" has been narrowed in scope to indicate only that supreme form of honor, reverence, and respect that is due to God.
Gatta9 11 months ago
B-@axejamin1
For many centuries, the term worship simply meant showing respect or honor, and an example of this usage survives in contemporary English. British subjects refer to their magistrates as "Your Worship," although Americans would say "Your Honor." This doesn’t mean that British subjects worship their magistrates as gods
Gatta9 11 months ago
A-@axejamin1 Lets make this crystal clear
The word "worship" has undergone a change in meaning in English. It comes from the Old English weorthscipe, which means the condition of being worthy of honor, respect, or dignity. To worship in the older, larger sense is to ascribe honor, worth, or excellence to someone, whether a sage, a magistrate, or God.
Gatta9 11 months ago

1-@axejamin1 You have a poor understanding of Catholicism . The Creator alone is God.
Mary is as much a creature as any other human being. But whilst she is as much a creature as we are, we have not been honored by God nearly as much as she.
Gatta9 11 months ago
2-@axejamin1
You have a misconception of what Catholicism teaches
1-We do not pray to Mary INSTEAD of to God, but WE pray to her as well as to God. And those who retain devotion to Mary are in the habit of offering more prayers directly to God than those who have repudiated devotion to Mary.
Gatta9 11 months ago
3-@axejamin1 Moreover, prayers to Mary are prayers to God through her intercession. And you cannot deny that at times it is good to have our Lady praying with us rather than to pray alone to God. Two prayers are better than one, above all when the other whom I have asked to join in my petition is the very Mother of Christ.
Gatta9 11 months ago
4-@axejamin1 Christ has not made all the intercession that is necessary. If so, why does St. James writing well after the Ascension of Christ from this world and under the inspiration of God, write V., 16, "Pray one for another that you may be saved.
Gatta9 11 months ago
5-@axejamin1
There are many secondary mediators who derive their power from Christ and retain it in and through Christ. That this is so is evident from Acts XII., 5, where Christians offered prayer without ceasing for St. Peter who was in prison. St. Paul wrote to the Corinthians, "We pray that you may do no evil." He was interceding for them. To Philemon he wrote, "I hope that through your prayers I shall be given to you."
Gatta9 11 months ago
6-@axejamin1
To the Hebrews XIII., 18, he wrote asking their prayers for him. "Pray for us," he writes; "for we hope to have a good conscience and behave well in all things."Again St. Paul wrote to the Romans XV., 30, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, through our Lord Jesus Christ and by the charity of the Holy Spirit, that you help me in your prayers for me to God." Was St. Paul relying on their help rather than on the merits of Christ? No.
Gatta9 11 months ago
7-@axejamin1 (continued)
But Christ had said, "I am the vine, you are the branches," i. e., branches deriving their life and value from Him. Each member is incorporated in Christ, and Christ lives in His members. Consequently, any value in the prayers of others is derived from Christ, and in this sense St. Paul wrote to the Christians at Rome, "I beseech you, help me by your prayers for me to God."
Gatta9 11 months ago
8-@axejamin1 (Continued)
And he certainly hoped to benefit by the medium of their prayers for him.The principle then is Scriptural that we may benefit by each other's prayers. It is certain, also, that the prayer of a saintly person added to my own will deserve more graces than my own prayers alone could do.Whose prayers will I ask?
Gatta9 11 months ago
9-@axejamin1
St. Paul asked his fellow Christians in Rome to pray for him to God. We also may do that. Also, in virtue of the Communion of Saints, we may ask the intercession of souls already in heaven with God, and what better than to ask the prayers of Mary, the very Mother of Christ.

@martlut - Just an afterthought. Where in the Bible will you find any reference to Roman Catholicism

@martlut well a church such as the Roman Catholic Church that prays to idols (Mary) I will not follow. It is a false doctrine.

@BrianMason1000 -- Hello Brian. This nut - *martlut* - is a 61 year old American fruit-cake who is un-able to hold a constructive discussion. You may as well be talking to a brick wall!, an American one, built of USA bullshit and mindless Catholicism
goinghomesomeday1 1 year ago
@goinghomesomeday1 Well I must disagree with you goinghomesomeday. Although as you say he is a "nut" he does have the right to speech. All I was trying to do is put a pebble in his/her shoe to read "The Word". There is no fingerpointing! Jesus is the way Only! Not Mary.
BrianMason1000 1 year ago
@BrianMason1000 -- Yes, I agree with you 100%. Yes, it was unchristian of me to refer to *marlut* as a nut etc. In relation to Mary, Jesus says it all in John 14:6 (KJV).

@goinghomesomeday1 who says your a christian in the first lace it is after all a catholic word how audacious of you to use it to describe yourself
martlut 1 year ago
@martlut - I have no interest in nor intend to educating you about the church which you so vehemently support. Read up on its history yourself, -- NOT THE HISTORY WRITTEN BY THE ROMAN CHURCH ITSELF -- but the history written by noted international historians. A good place to start might be with the Bible.
goinghomesomeday1 1 year ago
@goinghomesomeday1 yes please dont educate me yup read up on history yup history not written by the catholic church yup the bible a Catholic Book compiled by Catholics for Catholics under apostolic tradition.
