God I loved this album. Wore that cassette out! I met Bobby Durango once at the Coconut Teazer in Hollywood. Cool dude. This was after they renamed the band Durango. I like the Rock CIty Angles name way better. Too bad they never became big.

it's rumoured that the band was shelved after Geffen spent 2 million on it's release(which never happens) because Hollywood wanted Johnny Depp to NOT go back to the band...there are lots of rumours about this band and why they did'nt make it and thats the best one...they WERE the next big band in LA after GNR made it...doesn't make sense that they were'nt promoted after so much money thrown their way...I worked at record stores all my life and this NEVER came out on CD to begin with...

@BlackHole1217 Hi, I'm not quite sure what you mean with your "NEVER came out on CD" post???. I have the CD in front of me now : GEFFEN 9241932, which I bought in the UK in 1988. I didn't even own a CD player then, so taped it at a friend's house. I have since picked up a double vinyl copy.

The Rock City Angels started out in the early 1980s as the punk rock band "The Abusers", the product of singer Bobby Bondage and original bassist Andy Panik's chance meeting at a late night showing of the movie "The Decline of Western Civilization".

I told everybody I could about these guys when they first hit the airwaves. I miss them and yes, I'll be picking up the CD as soon as I can. I was just a kid when they came out. I think I was 14 when I bought their double album on cassette. I'm a writer now and there is a piece of their music somewhere in my work.

I still ( after all these years) can't figure out why " Guns ' n' Roses " made it big, and these guys didn't stir the rock 'n' roll pool even a little bit. " Rock City Angels" still hit my turntable minimum twice a week. "Guns" have been in the garbage can for quite a while now....

I read it in Classic Rocks a few months ago. They signed these but basically left them, no promotion or anything because Guns had just taken off and they didn't want to 'flood the market' by having 2 (what they thought were similar sounding :S) bands being promoted at once. So Guns blew up these were left with nothin so they did nothin, shame really cos they kick ass and are different n original.
