Only buy cooked food anywhere in Peru. Don't drink anything but bottled water or pop or tea, coffee. Much better bargains can be found towards Bolivia at Puno and La Paz. Truly beautiful people and remember you are in a third world country where you are a source of their income and thankful for their hospitality. I loved all of it. Be safe.
ESTIMADOS PERUANOS!!! DESDE EL MOMENTO; QUE NO HACEMOS NO HACEMOS NADA!!! PERMITIMOS QUE NUESTRO LEGADO; POR NUESTROS ANCESTROS SEA APLASTADO; POR LOS EUROPERUANOS QUE NO SE SIENTEN PERUANOS!!!!
DESDE EL MOMENTO QUE NO HACEMOS NADA!!!! HACEPTAMOS QUE NOS EXTERMINEN!!!! BASTA CARAJO!! TÚPAC AMARU; TÚPAC KATARI; ELLOS NO HAN MUERTO ENVANO!!! EN TUS VENAS CORRE LA SANGRE DE ESOS REVOLUCIONARIOS!!!
@TheMaimonides Obviously you don't know what you are talking about when you say "INDIANS LIVING IN SACRED CITIES? What the profanic f... They don't respect.. etc. Let me tell you the speaker doesn't also know what he is saying clearly. THESE PEOPLE are direct descendents of the INKAS. CUSCO IS THEIR CITY>What the turists see & what is advertised, is for you to enjoy what is rightfully theirs. Their traditions & costumes after many years has being mixed with the Catholic Religion.
Before you make an statement as such as you did, learn more. Perhaps you can get at Amazon a book written by the Spaniard soldier Pedro the Cieza the Leon, first chronicle witter of THE INVASION & CONQUEST OF PERU, translated into English, titled "THE INKAS OF CIEZA" Perhaps then you'll know & understand much better what the speaker is trying to describe & see that those people aren't disrespectful to The SACRED CITY OF CUSCO.You'll enlighten your self as much as you'll have fun.

Was the limestone originally soft and hardened over time? Unlike the granite on Machu Picchu which was hard and difficult to carve.
