I was there with a director friend (to hold his bags!), who's film 'Becca' was also showing. You've hit the nail right on the head! There were no details on any of the films showing, times were all over the place & it was just generally badly organised. I'm very sorry to say that we also watched Clear Blue Tuesday, only to leave before your screening... though our destination was dinner with friends (not the Lord Mayor). Our apologies... BTW, the guy in the blue shirt at 2:53 looks familiar :o)
If you had said festiva and Wales I would have said NO. If you had specificed Swansea I would have said double no. Anyone with a brain cell left Wales for greener pastures. I felt very sorry for you watching this but at every turn I kept on saying yeah but this is Wales... thats why I left.
This is incredibly embarrassing. What an offensive disgusting man. " Tell's you a lot about your film" ?? How you didn't go wild at him I have no idea! Well done for keeping your cool.
I just want to say that if all you what to do with your film is put it on youtube and have a showing at a film festival as a bit fun then you will enjoy this festival. If on the other hand like me you what a film festival to have a expert film judges to judge and award the wining films and to play your films on the time given to you so sales agent can see it! Then this is not the festival us pro film makers expect!!!
Well folks - the good news is: having attended the festival this year, it all seems grand! We had a technical hitch with a player, that was sorted in no time flat; we were looked after and introduced to other film makers throughout the short time we were there; folk came to the screenings. I grant that the screening room wasn't HD 5.1, etc, but then I wasn't expecting that from Swansea Bay FF. So perhaps the good side is that lessons have ben learned? A very enjoyable experience.
Great film. I'm afraid we're committed to going, and I only found you this week! However, that being said, I do believe the sbff is under new management, as it were. We're also going to Ireland (2 for 2!). I'm going to keep a record of it, and let you know the upshot. Hopefully things will have improved. If not, arses might get kicked!
@amoslinz Sadly not under new management..the guy who runs it Binda Singh just invents mythical people to front his events. Would love to know how you get on at the SBFF
I hope someone else has taken over the Festival this year, but I live in Swansea and haven't seen any advertising about it, i guess it will be the same poor turnout unless someone pulls their socks up, fingers crossed film makers!!
I've just come across this excellent video and feel I must add a comment. I had the misfortune of meeting this Bindah Singh about 8 months ago when he was looking for venues for this years Festival.
He told me he could no longer use the Dylan Thomas Arts Centre for various reasons.
I'm responsible for running a Workingmans Club on a daily basis, which he was very interested in using because we have several rooms capable of showing these films.
I am so embarrassed to be from Swansea. I have lived in many different countries and different parts of the UK. This seems very very unacceptable and totally unprofessional behaviour. I am very sorry for the couple who travelled all this way, I apologise being from Swansea. This fucking rude imbecile Mr Singh is a disgrace and can only damage the image of Swansea.
You have more patience and self-control than I ever will. If I'd asked about attendance being poor due to the party being scheduled so soon after (or during) the film and he'd said "it tells you something about your movie", I'd have punched him right in his smug arsehole mouth. :/
Outrageous! The Head "Organizer" is not only a MORON, but a narcissistic psychopath. How Dare he treat his submitters so horrifically. I am livid FOR you!. This was important on so many levels and this Fool blew it. Who in the world let this idiot be in charge of so much that was so crucial? Is there any recourse or recompense at all available to those he screwed over? Please tell me that there is...
The Prick should be sacked. Sad that the idiot is probably paid for his rude obnoxious attitude. Too many idiots like this getting jobs on who they are rather than what they are capable of. It's sad state of affairs.
If you watch this Mr Singh, shame of you. You don't have the skills but you will no doubt have all the excuses. Your just not up to the job. Step down. By the way I don't know these people just a passing viewer and saddened to see the UK still dishing out jobs to the underskilled

Binda Singh. I've heard so many negative comments about this man that I wouldn't believe a word he ever says.

if you hover your mouse over the timebar to 6.06 and keep clicking it is quite amusing. What was he trying to say?

Intriguing.
There is a very strange culture in the arts world in general in the uk.
Something to do with education, professional jealousy and fear.
There is not a great deal of rational thinking behind it, but there is awareness that meerly playing the game is counter productive.
As a result what happened at the swansea film festival is not just classic but a symptom of a very sick system in general.
It would be funny if it wasnt so sad.
