@fractalign I think it would be a mistake to assume the "saddos" are comparing couple 90s chart toppers with all recent of music. They must be comparing it with the chart toppers of today. Lets say they're not into the genres that top charts these days. Your argument boils to matter of taste. If you go read my recent comments in Ey6KmDY0dcg video, I actually came up with some more quantifiable statements as why many 00's chart hits are worse than this cheese. Not all but many more than in past.
There is a lot of crap around these days but there is also a lot more good quality music as well because the internet allows aspiring artists to get their music heard with out having to compromise their integrity. The only way an artist could get exposure back then was to post demo to a record label or radio station in the hope they would get signed or get air play. No MP3, Last Fm, YouTube or My Space back in those days !
@rigostars While you are right in that there's a lot of people wanting xx-decade back in a hit music video while forgetting all the copy-cat crap that never made it to air, somethings have changed with internet. People are more exposed to crap as there's no cherry-picking radio/tv dj's between them and the producers. After DJ's became super-stars people wanted to be a DJ - they may PAY to DJ instead of getting paid -> the quality bar for DJ is $ and DJs get paid by artists with $ to play crap.

I mean we were listening to real underground Techno back then and all the countrykids were calling this commercial shit "Techno music", because they never heard the real stuff.
