Burdon and War, the best black and white collaboration in music I know of. Thanks for allowing me to hear them again. I used to have their original albums. Sadly not anymore
@LameBuffalo, Unbelievable isn't it? And it still sounds great to this day! What's really unbelievable is the fact that WAR has not been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet after all this time and for all the kick ass music they have put out. Hoping they make it in 2012. Peace.
And I thought I'd heard'em all - How could I have missed this one. This is a great song, Full of rythmic grooves that could never be replicated in todays music. Eric's voice sounds just as good today as it did 40+ years ago.
Excellent vid, and a great song to boot! I'm surprised this didn't/hasn't dominated the airwaves during its time or even now on the "Classic Rock" or "Classic R/B" stations. Thanks for posting!
@2boddah, I can't believe you have never heard of one of the greatest bands on earth, WAR! Come on now, I KNOW you have. That's Howard Scott on "gE tr" and the great Lee Oscar on harp. If you want more info, visit my channel. I will GLADLY give you the up and up. Yes, this vid does OWN you after you see it and it's not the only one with WAR and Burdon that does. Peace.
I was at the Paris concert of that tour, best concert I ever attended, best fusion between musicians, singer, and even audience. Never heard anything as powerful ever since. My graal of music
Wow, this is marvelous!! The internet is really fantastic. I never knew Eric Burdon also sang this kind of stuff. Loved it!!! It´s so funny to see him so young.
in a dam vault. lol if we ever needed corp. greed it's now. remaster this performance and give it UP. i cant even finde a set list of songs for this performance.....dose anybody know? did they do just two songs that ev.?
I realized the conga solo at the end of "Love is All Around". That would be followed by "Hear My Train A Comin". Later the song was released unter the title "Train Thing Medley" (CD: Animal Spirit). But I can't imagine what song was played before "Spirit". I hope theres comin out more next time...
thanks j. i dident know that.... cool! i cant finde any info on this show anyware.......WHY DONT YOU KNOW..... DAM YOU!!!! hahahah.... whatever...call you sources and let us all know. please.
There are some good audio cuts from their 1971 european tour. Can anyone tell me how I can upload good quality audios like user "Neduddgi" does??? I need to know. Then I will put up some Burdon stuff....
They played for 2-3 hours, being there back then, some of it was just War, but 2/3 with Eric. Sorry, can't remember the rest of the set list, since it was a way back!
r u serious? Your definitely missing out on alot of bands from this era,..if you like this type of sound fusion(latinsoul/latinrock). I listen to war the least out of the other bands i'm referring to.
Soooo f--king underated,i love Eric and War together. Its alittle rock, funk, soul mixed, brilliant!I could listen to this groove all day!-R&R hootchie-mama:)
I got a copy of this tune from iTunes, it's very cool. If I was in an active band right now I likely want to cover it. Interesting, this live version is better than the studio version. A lot more going on live, more percussion, better Sax solo and vocals live not sure why. Likely this tune needed a little more time to settle in before they recorded it. But both are very cool, I think with a modern twist this tune could be a hit today.
You are so right!! I have the studio version which is very good. This band was even better live, more solos and improvisation. AWESOME. If this concert was on cd or dvd I would buy it right NOW!
I wish there was more of this concert. They did a great job getting this footage. We at least have this. Amazing, and this was 1971 technology, really feel like I'm going back to another time. They had something back then that seems to be lost today, not sure what exactly.
This vid is very important to me as this the clip that made me *fall in love* with Eric once and for all!... His scruffy looks + the way he hits his cowbell relentlessly at 03:58-04:06!!!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not into sadomasochism or anything... But for some strange and compulsive reason, I wish I was THAT cowbell!
Of course, the sultry sound of the sax and drums set the mood too! ;-)
Tangerine, my life depends on you too, I'm afraid!!! ;-D
Well, I'll tell you my "falling in love" story. I remember it so clearly. At the time I was infatuated with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. I had not seen The Animals or Eric Burdon and I came across the "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" video (which I've since uploaded since it was deleted). Previously I had thought Robert had the best voice, but when I heard Eric I said to myself, now there's someone who can give Robert Plant some competition.
After watching the "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" video (the black & white version with the unusual set design):
youtube dot com/watch?v=jxNEiZhpinY
And the way he looked as he sang it, it broke the infatuation with RP and started what has become my obsession with Eric and the rest is history... : )
I think what's so intriguing about him when he was with The Animals is that in one video he can look so young and cute and then in another video during the same time period can look so mature, with this kind of "street wise" persona and the two images are very contradictory if you think about it. To me that's what made him so interesting.
Now that was some good stuff. I wish I was alive to see great Musicians like Eric Burdon and WAR get together and jam. Music now adays is just to corney and songs have no soul anymore. Ah well, thank you for posting this. :)
I wish I could have seen them too. As well as The Animals, but I was too young back then. I don't even listen to current music so I don't know what's going on today, but I do notice a lot of people on You Tube, especially younger people, lamenting the state of today's music. The '60s and '70s were a great time musically. Won't ever happen again I don't think.
I'm starting to wonder if cloning is really such a bad thing after all...
I'd start a group, but after we say to each other, "I want him so bad" what else is there to say? That kind of sums it all up doesn't it?
I bought a book called Animal Tracks. After I read that, I might have some things to say other than the usual groupie things that I write. I bought that book because I really can't understand him and what happened back then. That book should answer a lot of my questions.

Every once in a while a lamb wanders astray from the flock.
Let us all be shepherds and encourage the lamb back to it's rightful family.
One such member of the flock: Leroy "Lonnie" Jordan has wandered away.
Please make a concerted effort to guide this member back to the family who wants and needs him.
Your voice will be heard.
And Mr. Jordan is truly missed.
I would encourage everyone to support "The LOWRIDER Band" and it's original members.
