im a freshman in highschool and plan on tryingout for one of these three special ops when im out of highschool, SEALs, MARSOC, or marine force recon (FORECON) i hav time but i have began to steady increase my pullups pushups etc...i am not the strongest or fastest person alive but i have an incredible work ethic..and i will not quit...but i would love opinions on which one you would join, why, and any advice. thanks aton!
@SpartanLGV my parents werent athletic so naturally i wasnt and i goto the gym everyday (to play bball and workout) so i have shaped myself into an athlete...iv done a max of 15 pullups (to dead hang) and pushups have done 62 in 2 minutes...and on the situ up test in PE i got 70 in one minute..im only a freshman so im working on all my physical abbilties so im read once im out of highschool to join a special ops group
@csakal18 That is very impressive especially for your age group. Im sure you can reach 25 pullups and lots more by senior year. Also because of your age Idk what to tell you, you are still young in the sense that you are still growing, which is good and bad. growth spurts can really mess with your body mass index and muscle growth, you might get heavier and all your sets get messed up. I can tell you that to compete for spots in BUDs you need to be competitive. meaning at least cont.>>
@csakal18 cont>>> 100 push ups in 2 mins. 100 sit ups in 2 mins. and at least 20 dead hangs. your 1.5 mile run in 8:30 or less. all PFT are taken in boots and BDUs. you take the push ups and sit ups first, then the run, then pull ups. some times its pull then run. so make sure that when you lift weights you are trainning the small muscle groups, hard to reach places in your back, obliques, and rhomboids(muscle between your rotator cuffs or shoulder blades)I wish you luck and work hard!
@skidder151 Look for the JROTC program at your high school, and join the Ranger team. do heavy amounts of calisthenics, and small muscle group work outs. You are still young so focus on these, and if you need to lift, use resistance bands. it does less harm to your joints compared to weight lifting. hope this helps!
The amount of training these guys go through is ridiculous. I'd love to be able to do this, but sadly I wouldn't get past the first week of BUD/S. Kudos to anyone capable of enduring the training (it's even tougher than what they show in this video).
i have no direction in life and been thinking about the seals. it looks GREAT! i love anything with strong comradery. but can joining or trying out for it give good direction in life? i have nothing rly going for me.
@dinospitter do it man. even if it doesnt work out and you dont make it you got a garunteed job for as long as you want with decent benefits you wont get on the outside. the private sector is seriously fucked and it wont get any better anytime soon. people with college degrees are stocking groceries shelfs for minimum wage. i say take any decent oppurtunity you got.
@pandemic4tw Hahahhaha that was my job for 2 months. 3 weeks ago i quit cuz i moved too far away but when i was there i was thinking what kinda life is this shit?? lol
@dinospitter ive been working their for almost 2 years, cant wait till i leave for boot camp for the marine core, only 4 months to go! i leave in december
@dinospitter seals is something you have to start training for when you're young. it's something that you just have to be brought up that way. this is probably the toughest special forces branch of the military (in my opinion). If I were you I'd go for something more like army rangers or marine recon
im signing up this year and goto into bootcamp as an E-3 because i was a seacadet.Ive been training for SEALS since 13 ,ANd ive wanted it my whole life.I cant wait.I take my ASVAB this Tuesday.I hope all those who say they are going to be SEALS that I see you all there. Im supposed to go July 5th for my bootcamp.
i really wuna be a SEAL. and i know less than 30% make it. but i think that less than 30% really wanted to be a SEAL. and i wuna be that less than 30%. its what i wuna do in life
i could do this if you can do parkour you can ace the obstical corse easily and you have to be pretty fit to do parkour but it still would be a really hard challenge
@FutureSEALmember ok, can you swim 50 meters underwater or drown proof already? I'm 16 and I've done both of those. Hard as hell. I hope you have been training harder than anyone you know, I've been makin sure I do that.
This is by no means fun, hell week. 132 hours with 4 hours of sleep total. Drown proofing, hands tied behind back and feet tied as well, swim 50 meters and then swim down to the bottom of a 9 foot pool and pick up a facemask with your teeth. Seals training is hell. Don't even say it looks easy and fun, because if you think that, you are damn wrong.
omg man this hard people thinks its easy it aint belive me when your most tired captain scream at you harder harder or else get your butt kicked i have done seals but not here back home in lebanon eat snakes folks
@iiiSean Uncorrected, you have to have no worse than 20/70 in one eye and 20/40 in the other. But, Naval Special Warfare now accepts candidates who have had PRK or Lasik eye correction surgery providing a waiver is obtained.
@Bloo479 you have to have a letter from your dentist stating that you will have them out by boot camp or will have them removed during your initial entry to boot camp. that's what my recruiter says. Hope that helps.
@carth101 Oh carth i forgot to ask to join the navy seals do you have to be in the navy first then sign for the navy seals or can i just ask the recruiter if i can join?
@Bloo479 well if you score high enough on the asvab which i think you need a 65 overall score and a combined score of 165 in EI(electronics information) GS(General Science) and MC( mechanical comprehension) if you manage that AND pass the SEAL PFT then you can enlist with a SEAL contract
@carth101 Actually all you have to make is a 50 on the asvab over all. And pass the SEAL PFT. They also go to the same basic but they are seperated from the rest and the training is more about extreme conditioning but the same over-all education.
@MrAaronch lol of course they go through the same basic its the god damn Navy ... plus i think you have the info about them being seperated mixed up... thats the Naval special warfare prep school where its focused on conditioning... thats to get them ready for BUD/s orientation then first phase... also im not sure if its a 50 you need to score my recruiter told me its a 65 you need overall
@carth101 Actually my recruiter told me a 50 and I know someone who made a 50 on his ASVAB recently and passed the P.F.T and is under a SEAL contract. He ships off In august. And I was answering an earlier comment that I saw as well. And I was told that the seal candidates are seperated from the rest. But I'll definatley do some research on that.
@Bloo479 Another way is that you can enlist w/ a fleet rate. You'll be thrown into a fleet div. rather than a spec ops div. in boot camp. You can then volunteer to do the pst ( think it was week 3) You then have have 3 chances to pass it. You pass it, you can change your rate to SO. After boot you'll go across the street to do two months of pre-buds. Check to see if they still do that though, they should.
Hey i "AM" Going to be a navy SEAL and i just wanted to talk to a real navy seal if a NAVY SEAL could message me i want a few Q answered if its no trouble. Trust me i'm a highly motivated kid whom has been training all my life.

some times genetics can play a big part, and if you had very active parents that could help.
