  • classic

  • Buhhhh esta mejor con la voz de selena. La canción esta súper pero le falta voz. Y selena se la dio. Viva selena

  • This was one of the last vinyl 45's I bought. Good times.

  • @prestonpb On sire like the searchers maybe they wanted a one word group title like the searchers

  • pay attention to the bass in this song...the core of it..

  • Used to set my clock radio to get up for high school in the morning. This track was the one that came on and roused me out of sleep so many times. We all look for patterns in life, and it was pretty freaky and cool that this beautiful, reflective song--which I adored--was the one to start my day so many mornings. Then I'd skip school and ponder my place in the universe.

  • I have no intention of parting with it..

  • Dear Ms Hynde...possibly my fave track, this one...My 45 single has another flip side and a picture cover...Inv

  • RUSH IS REICH!!

  • SELENA!!!! XD

    rip

i like this song, and the Selena cover :)

  • is that the player making the music or did you add the sound?

it sounds great i just purchased pretenders 1 and II, Extended Play and learning to crawl on vinyl and they should be coming in tommorrow

  • What's the Difference?... is Something Supposed To Be Different?, This Sounds Exactly The Same, What Am I Missing?

  • You're a legend mate

  • Is that a 45 record ? Did this come out in 70s- or 80s or the 90s? This song rocks!

  • "My City Was Gone" was played alot on the rock stations when it came out. It was on the radio alot before RL (who I can't stand) stole it.

I also have it posted. I had "Back On The Chain Gang" posted too, but it got blocked by WMG.

  • Chrissie Hynde's politics are the opposite of Rush Limbaugh's. She was NOT happy about him using "My City Was Gone" and took him to court over it.

  • You don't tell the whole story. At first she did not care until Limbaugh made a remark she did not like. However she agreed that if Limbaugh would donate to PETA which he agreed to do that he could use the song. Tell the whole story please.

  • That's not QUITE the whole story either. Rush pointed out publicly that he thought it was funny that he was using a liberal song (and the lyrics of the song are pretty much Reagan bashing agitprop) on his show. This, of course, pissed Crissy Hynde off, so she said he could use the song if all of the royalties went to PETA.

So now everytime Rush Limbaugh plays this song, a militant animal rights group gets a check from him. I have no idea whether he still plays the song.

  • =v= Wow. I don't think I ever bought a Sire Records 45, but it's fun seeing their logo spinning around like that.

  • I wish more old vinyl hits like this were available on CD.

Pretenders are awesome, saw em' live in Philly early Feb 09! :D

  • My ex's lass once said over dinner..."Mum?, What're those black things with the hole in the middle called".... Made me chuckle!

  • que buena cancion carajo!!! me trae tantos buenos recuerdos de los grandes amigos y amigas...aquellas epocas en donde todo parecia tan facil...saludos desde Brasil...aunque el que escribe es un peruano...Very nice song!! I remenber a lot of great times with the friends!! the time when everything looks like easily..greeting from Brasil..but the person who is writing is peruvian!

  • Gracias desde Perú.

  • hahahaha photo y recuerdos= selena!

  • its the intro theme to the Rushbough show

  • If I could, I would give it a 1000 thumbs up.

  • PS: CH's band was The Pretenders, and their song "Brass in Pocket" was one of the biggest hits of 1979.

  • No it's not a "regional theme" (whatever that is). Whatever company Rush L. works for bought the rights, however many years ago, from whatever company ultimately controls the rights to this tune. I don't know what Chrissy Hynde's politics are, but I doubt she personally had anything to do with it.

  • Nope. Hynde has a company in her name called "Hynde's house of hits"

Her manager does most of the work but, the record company has some control, she ultimately controls where most her songs go. She's been doing it since Pretenders I

  • There is a weekday radio talk program that originates out of West Palm Beach around noon that uses this as the theme song. It is the most widely listened to program on the air nationwide.

  • its Rush limbaugh

  • It feels like something of an anachronism to be watching a manually set 45 play a tune I recall from fairly early in MTV's history. I always liked Chrissy's CHAIN GANG and her MIDDLE OF THE ROAD best. I don't know the B Side (My City Was Gone) as an instrumental or a vocal. Maybe it's a regional radio theme?
