These glasses would fit very well into an idea I have had about a new way of making and showing movies. I have written an essay about it and posted it on the Internet. I can't give the ip address here, but the title is "Virtual Space - the movies of the future" and you can find it with Google.
I think they're great she just kept going on about how you look in them that realy sad, ya'know? you dont look like a moron wearing them and they have other models if your that concerned about it. it jnust goes to show that you dont get somone who doesent know what shes talking about and is to obbsessed with how she looks in somthing to do a review like this! despite what she says a still intend on getting one of the Myvu crystals.
I don't own these, but got to wear a display model in a shop at the airport in Minneapolis.
The resolution on these is 640x480 which is higher than my iPod Touch G2. The aspect ratio is 4:3. So doesn't quite match my iPod Touch.
The video seemed ok. Nice and bright compared to the older model that was also on display. I'm almost 50 and had cataract surgery last year which means I cannot focus on anything less than about 3 feet without glasses, but the screen looked ok.
Screen looked about the same size as my 28" TV at home about 12 feet from my sofa.
The reviewer says she can't imagine why anyone would wear this instead of using the screen on the iPod. If you travel on a plane a lot, these may be very useful. When I watch movies on my iPod I usually set it on a small stand on the tray in front of me. But then I end up looking down the whole time which isn't comfortable. If I had these glasses, I could lean back in the seat and be much more comfortable.
The version I was looking at supported a standard composite video input. Had to pay extra for an adapter to connect to the iPod.
As for the negative, it was a neat device, but way too expensive. Would have cost me more than my 16Gb touch. I also noticed the two images didn't quite line up which would be a problem after a while (although the demo version had short cables which meant I was watching at a strange angle).
I decided to wait for a higher resolution version.
this guy /\ is a moron, he reviewed a pair he bought (the most "budget" pair of myvu's you could get) and was pissy when they didn't meet the same standards as some older type of hmd that most likely cost hundreds when it came out. get over it dude, because your old favorite "awesomeist" model isn't even in the same class, they might view better but theyre a freaking helmet dude. yea, i watched your review and posted there too about how rediculous and misleading you tried to make it about myvu
What a terrible review. I know what the MyVue glasses look like and that it is not a favorable "fashion statement". This girl completely skips the part about how well the glasses work. I guess when you a young, dumb girl, fashion is more important than how something works. She probably wears shoes that are too small and hurt her feet too because they look cool.
I see an advantage. I'm a truck driver with no T.V. in and a clunky 7 pound laptop that I get tired of laying on my chest to watch when I'm laying down relaxing in the sleeper. For my situation these will be perfect. I can plug them in and lay the laptop on the floor and just relax and watch a bit of star trek or something. I love 'em.
I am traveling to our nations east coast (Arizona to Philly) and no movie is available, so why not watch a movie with a big screen. It doesn't seem to want to work with my iphone so it looks like I'll use my ipod (take it out of mothballs).
Ughh, these reviews are useless. They usually talk about comfort which is fine. But I wanted to know what the resolution was like, any other HMD's it's comparable to.
A lot of people say they can't think of a situation where these give any advantage... But in about a month I'll be on a 13 hour flight and they seem like a pretty cool idea for that.
personally i think that no one would wear those.. a great ider but i would laugh if i saw someone sitting there starring into some glasses.... but a good idea...that should turn those into comtact lenses....
no no no..lol.. have you ever seen the movie i spy? its like a video transmitter through a contact lense.. it doenst esits.. but i am pretty sure that if it does, no one knows about it or they are wouking on making on as i type...

you should probably check out the /Myvu crystal
mattskell 2 years ago
Thanks Mattskell. The shop where they had the demo models had both the Crystal (which is what she's demoing in this video) and the older Solo.
The Crystal is what I was commenting on with the 640x480 resolution in 4:3 aspect ratio. The older Solo only has 320x240 resolution.
Wasn't sure if the Crystal was worth the $300 they were asking.

are you sure? cause the Crystal I saw was a thinner solid black madel

People all paid money to give a crappy product a snazzy nice review. Come to my channel to hear the truth about MYVU's glasses.

Is it only for portable devices, or can I plug something like my xbox to it? Cuz that would be beyond awesome.

Watch my review on my channel. MYVU's glasses are the worst excuse for Head Mounted Displays I've ever used. And I've used a LOT!
