When Heroes of Newerth was created they copied Dota pretty much 1to1 because they wanted to do a standalone of the game. Since Icefrog worked for them at this point and allowed them to do so this isn't a thing to frown upon imo. Since then the game has evolved quite a bit, in my opinion in a positive direction.
LoL stealing from HoN is meh but that is how it works, nothing to really get mad about. Everybody steals from everyone, if Blizzard wouldn't have stolen we never could have had WoW.
@Force3vo A world without WoW would be a better place. It's a shitty MMORPG, and Blizzard could have spent more time/resources making another RTS game to continue the Warcraft story, as opposed to wasting their cinematic-making skills and lore-creating skills on a bunch of people who play the game to grind the living shit out of everything, and only care about the story because it provides more quests for them.

This video is truly biased. It doesnt really point out the gist of HoN. I dont think LoL is a bad game, infact its a extremely successful game. Let me point out that HoN requires much more skill, reaction and experience to be enjoy and good at, which is the main gist of HoN and somthing that attarcts the DotA Veterans. On the other hand, LoL is fairly easier and 'different' from DotA or HoN in terms of game play style, made some DotA Veterans to think its shit. Its just matter of taste, so STFU
@karlton5703 HoN is a good game, but copied too much, LoL is too casual, and DotA2 currently does not have one innovation from the original game. Of course LoL has some skill play, the higher rank you get, and unique leveling and gameplay(skillshots, skilling and stats) HoN has some badass hero's(many stolen, mind you,) and DotA 2 is a pure competitive game.
HoN will die out. DoTA 2 will take it's place. LoL on the other hand will probably still be played because people still enjoy that casual gaming feel and Dominion.

The graphics are dissappointing and the game has a huge overal delay.
Apart from that I seriously hate the fact that there is no concede/suddender button which forces you to sit out an entire game for no reason. Another remark is the control the player has over the game, it all feels way to blurry. Lets hope they fix this..
@Nexigen92 It's beta.... And the graphics for me weren't too disappointing and I never noticed a huge delay in the game. And I'm not too sure if HoN has a surrender but I'm sure DoTA never had a surrender to begin with. The controls feel right. It could be just you....
I feel that DOTA 2 is very nostalgic to the original one with some tweaks. Even though when I think about it, the game is like a 100% copy and paste of the original DoTA because---

Look at the remarkable difference between the gameplay. I guarantee you that you will like Heroes of Newerth more. Then again, like you said it is still in the beta. Lets hope they do fix this. I watched the entire video from both perspectives and it gave me a new look on both games, im not going to stop playing LoL but HoN looks pretty good. Instead of wasting my time arguing with people im going to go back to playing :)

To all those that say LoL graphics suck, you do know that you can set the quality to highest, they actually look really nice, but the game really slows down on my laptop when I set them to maximum quality haha, so I just leave them on low. And yeah, HoN does look all dark and depressing I must admit.
@marcraft100 I'm just trying to make a point that most ppl that describe LoL's graphics looking like GameBoy Color's are probably seeing them in lowest quality. They're set that way by default when you first install the game. If "bright and colorful" isn't your preferred them in a game, then I respect that. LoL is pretty fun for fucking around in, but I cant take it seriously. After my first 5 games and going 20-4 most every match I felt it was too easy, and I started to miss the challenge that is in HoN. Dont get me wrong I had a blast pub stomping in LoL... but it just got boring. HoN is more serious--if you want it to be--when playing the "ranked" matches therefore teamwork and communication takes a larger roll. As far as I know in LoL theres tons of ways you can customise your playstyle including the runes, masteries, summoner spells, tons of different item builds (I can think of no champion that has only 1 workable item build either) skins, custom skins as well.

HoN will die out. DoTA 2 will take it's place. LoL on the other hand will probably still be played because people still enjoy that casual gaming feel and Dominion.

The graphics are dissappointing and the game has a huge overal delay.
Apart from that I seriously hate the fact that there is no concede/suddender button which forces you to sit out an entire game for no reason. Another remark is the control the player has over the game, it all feels way to blurry. Lets hope they fix this..

@Nexigen92 It's beta.... And the graphics for me weren't too disappointing and I never noticed a huge delay in the game. And I'm not too sure if HoN has a surrender but I'm sure DoTA never had a surrender to begin with. The controls feel right. It could be just you....
I feel that DOTA 2 is very nostalgic to the original one with some tweaks. Even though when I think about it, the game is like a 100% copy and paste of the original DoTA because---

Look at the remarkable difference between the gameplay. I guarantee you that you will like Heroes of Newerth more. Then again, like you said it is still in the beta. Lets hope they do fix this. By the way, i like the graphics of HoN more too. Might be opinion based, decide yourself.

Ok lets get this thing straight and out,
LoL's side says that its "user-friendly", bright and colourful graphics (adjustable) and unique heroes (somehow). However, it some skills are exactly the same between certain heroes, and the free blink or teleport etc.!? oh come on.
HoN's side says that its graphics is more realistic, which is true, and HoN requires more skill and teamplay (LoL has teamplay, just saying HoN requires MORE), however, it takes long to get used to, and community sucks hard

To all those that say LoL graphics suck, you do know that you can set the quality to highest, they actually look really nice, but the game really slows down on my laptop when I set them to maximum quality haha, so I just leave them on low. And yeah, HoN does look all dark and depressing I must admit.

@marcraft100 I'm just trying to make a point that most ppl that describe LoL's graphics looking like GameBoy Color's are probably seeing them in lowest quality. They're set that way by default when you first install the game. If "bright and colorful" isn't your preferred them in a game, then I respect that. Not to bash HoN since I've never actually played it - I can't say LoL is better or worse than HoN. I'm having fun playing LoL, so that's all that matters to me.

lol and dota are good games. hon is exactly the same as dota minus the fun. if you look at the communities its like this, LoL> DotA > HoN. right now LoL has the biggest community but thats only because DotA2 has not been released yet. Each have their strong points, LoL has some unique heroes in it and some unique mechanics because it doesn't follow a agi/int/str system, DotA has an incredible fan base as well as great heroes and HoN is DotA...

League of legends is preferred by Pax, MLG, and Extin which must mean it is a better in their opinion. HoN now is free to play knowing that they cannot compete with Dota 2 or League of legends , not even to mention that League of legends has 34 million players now and was confirmed 2 days ago, when HoN doesnt come into 1/10 of a fraction of amount of players, the only reason why League of legends has a worse community is because we have HoN players coming in and pretend they know everything.

LoL is pretty fun for fucking around in, but I cant take it seriously. After my first 5 games and going 20-4 most every match I felt it was too easy, and I started to miss the challenge that is in HoN. Dont get me wrong I had a blast pub stomping in LoL... but it just got boring. HoN is more serious--if you want it to be--when playing the "ranked" matches therefore teamwork and communication takes a larger roll. So when a support hero tries to build a basher, thunder claw ppl will rage at them

As far as I know in LoL theres tons of ways you can customise your playstyle including the runes, masteries, summoner spells, tons of different item builds (I can think of no champion that has only 1 workable item build either) skins, custom skins as well.
