  • they look like freaky ogre babies.

  • I spent my whole weekend playing the hell out of this game. I'd say, now, my level success rates are

    1-100%

    2-10%

3-15% (even taking advantage of the red demon glitch)

    4-20%

    5-5%

6-0% (tore out my hair, broke my glasses in frustration, kicked my desk in half, then gave up)

  • The bosses at the end of lvl 1 & 2 are supposed 2 b unicorns lol

  • This is where i die alot.

    MUTHERFUCKING BATS!!

  • Get the mame version, same source as hardware cab!! This is just a copy of a great game!

  • I must have spent at least 100 dollars on this game at the arcades. I was so happy when I got a Genesis for Christmas with this game.

  • Emulation sucks and cannot compare with acctual hardware. Its like having an opinion on how ferraris drive because you have played grand turismo

  • owning all three of these consoles i am well aware of the differences

but with the exception of that horrible sound issue genesis emulation has, all of them are very close to perfect at this point, with very little major fluctuation

  • @ZetaPlays fair enough then but i still feel that emulation will never be 100% because its all about the chipsets especially when it comes to sound.

I have the ultimate sonic collection for xbox 360 and the emulation is terrible.

  • @Oblivion4life1 hey need a demolitionist then look no further just give me this game and the sequel (super ghouls and ghosts) and i'll take down the down the house in a week or two

  • i beat the game legitly but the house i was in needed a new floor and basement (seriously i did)

  • ive beaten first lvl

  • This and double dragon were some of the worst arcade ports on nes. I hated playing the arcade games then coming home to this. Nes version is so jerky.

  • this game was so easy.

  • I got to level 2 ONCE. That was as far as I ever got.

  • This is NOT a terrible game. A game being really hard =/= to the quality of the game.

  • To be honest, I grew up with and love the atmosphere and music of the game, but it's not retarded hard because of difficulty, so much as incredibly bad level/enemy design, and that's what makes it bad from a game design perspective

  • Red Demon pisses me off!

  • At 1:30- I hated this game for taunting me like that as if was saying, "HAHAHA, YOU WILL NEVER GET THIS FAR, HAHAHAHA!"

  • hardest nes game ever?

  • Might be. Though they're probably might be more harder games than this on the NES.

  • well okay. i still believe it is the hardest on nes.

  • Don't blame Capcom, blame Micronics for this shitty port that sucks ass. Granted, the original arcade game is one of the hardest video games EVER, but this is just an abomination.

  • I only played the SNES version of this and it looked way better... I mean the level design does seem to suck ballz on the NES version

Anyway good luck finishing it Zeta, it won't be easy as you know

  • Super Ghouls n Ghosts is an entirely different game and like the sequel to this, that's why it was better

  • Oh I see... at first I thought it was the exact same game only with better graphics and music. You should LP Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts too one day!

  • @ZetaPlays i beat both and like my few seconds ago comment i beat both but the owner had to get a new house

  • I can never even beat the first stage of this game... it's always that flying monster guy how many hits does he take?

  • I always wondered just why the knight was sitting in the graveyard in his boxers, laying back, with the princess crouched over him, head leaning down...

  • the music sounds like something off pokemon. even when you collect the money it sounds like totodile...

  • i've been listening to this music all week.

  • 0;18

I admire that you have the balls to say Ghosts N' Goblins is a terrible game. It is.

The general consensus, at least in my experience, is that is highly praised and just because it is hard doesn't make it bad. Anyone that disagrees is shunned and ridiculed.

Zeta, you have the courage to declare what is true; a good premise does not make up for crap controls and poor execution.

  • Honestly, I love the music and the controls aren't all that bad outside of the lack of ability to move when jumping. It's mostly just god awful level/enemy design mixed with an unforgiving health system AND a timer that makes it bad.

And maybe that whole play the game twice to beat it for real thing.

  • Hey I bought this game on virtual console like 3 weeks ago...and I barely made it to the 4th level.

But I've beaten the snes one. Nes is HARDER!!!!

  • Oh no... No... NOOOooo.. this is the decent into hell.. and madness of it all. Every copy of this Heretic posing as a game.. should be Clensed.. with fire. Your a frog and now your screwed? No.. you were screwed the moment you loaded, and didn't forfeit this one lol.

  • Oh nm, just got to the part where you started using them. lol

  • ....Savestates?

  • I cant even say a bright side.... (The best thing about this game is the...) I blank out there

  • WHY did you pick that game? Seriously.

  • I grew up with it and felt like reliving the pain

  • I suppose it's also because this way you don't have to run into it randomly.

I can pretty much imagine your reaction if that happened. And now that I think about it, it still can. "Super Ghouls n' Ghosts. Oh fuck no."

  • You know when you beat this game, YOU HAVE TO FUCKING PLAY IT AGAIN. BUT IT'S EVEN HARDER.

    >.>

  • I think it's exactly the same, actually..just, you have less lives if you died

  • aaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh! Ghosts and Goblins is unbelievably hard!!!!!!!!! And you have to beat it twice to actually beat it.

  • I won't even beat it once. But only because I couldn't get the ancient code to work to get to the last level after I ragequit

  • lol, i finally beat it but I felt like I had just wasted hours of my life for no reason

  • How does that wheel even work?

  • The Power of Dance.

  • he puts in the number of games that haven't been played yet and the wheel somehow put random numbers on it. that help?

  • @alexKrasny I think it randomly selects numbers out of a given range (1 to x wheras x is what you put in the field) to fill in the "???" slots on the wheel, and then randomly determines by how many degrees the wheel is gonna turn. I then just displays an enlarged view of where the arrow landed after spinning the wheel for "y" degrees (and y may be anything from, let's say, 90 to 1080 degrees or something) in case it lands close to a border. that's what I'd do if I had to do something like that.
