Yes, Dave Barry's colonoscopy piece is a classic --so much so that all my patients feel compelled to print it out and give me a copy.
March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month, so we offer you the music parody “Lookin’ Up My Backdoor.” The song pays homage to Credence Clearwater Revival but with a decidedly different message. The quirky video can be viewed on YouTube at the Buttmeddler channel.
I had a colonoscopy last year, after putting it off for way too long. I am terrified of hospitals, doctors, and being put to sleep. I have a PHOBIA of being put to sleep because of a bad dental experience in the 80's. Anyways, it really wasn't bad at all. I basically don't remember the actual procedure, even the knock out drugs going in. You are just GONE, with no memory of it. No pain. Actually it was kind of interesting - I got to ask questions about all the surgical equipment.
Just finished this book. I was cracking up the whole time. Love Dave.

I will never get a colonoscopy because I'm not gay... dammit.
However, my boyfriend got one because he's gay!

By far the worse is that whole GALLON (literally) of the worst shit you could ever taste. You will sit on the toilet for 6 hours the night before.

I had a colonoscopy last year. I thought I'd try to stay awake. Naaahhh. No way.
Within 30 seconds I was out like a light.
20 minutes later I woke up and it was like, "What happened?"
It was a pleasant experience.

I had a colonoscopy once...not pleasant, but not quite as bad as the reputation suggests, either.
More uncomfortable than painful, which is good.

Dave Barry is alive!? Oh hell yes. He disappeared for so long people stopped checking. Glad the master is back, and now live in person.
