  • Very good film, remarkable game and psychological experiences of the protagonist. In Russia this film practically didn't show. The first time has seen it in 1987 and any more there was no it on screens. I consider such film as genre classics. On coast of the big river of Volga in the city of Samara this film know and remember.

  • If only today's trailers were this long.... Then I would know if it's something good or not and I wouldn't have to waste any money

  • This was like Coppola's INCEPTION.

  • @jawsfan95 haha. Just so you people know jawsfan95 was my old account. Great to see that over a year later my comment is a top comment. Peace

  • Although i watched the whole movie, I found it a little difficult for me to watch 'cause of its pacing. I guess it has something to do with my generation's attention span. lol.

But I really liked how the film makes you really think about its concepts and what it can do to people.

And yes like someone said in previous post, the hotel scene did scared the crap out of me too.

  • I have seen this movie and to be honest I really do not understand why it is such a good movie but maybe it is not my generation? I dunno... anyways for me it was just ok nothing amazing.

  • This or Hoosiers, in my opinion was his best performance ever. Of course who didn't like him as Lex Luthor also :).

  • i actually like boring films but this is a whole other level of boring

    "well made" but OBSCENELY overrated

  • @marsharent did you even watch it ? the hotel scenes ?.. scared the crap out of me

  • @TheRocketSilo wasn't enough to justify the other 2 hours promising but failing to deliver anything remotely interesting :( Those scenes were like someone waking you up to tell you the phone rang but it was a wrong number

  • how did Hollywood move from movies like this to Transformers? Really??

  • Is this movie out on bluray yet?

I would love to see Gene trash that room at the end again in HD. :D

  • i think girls would be terrified to date a guy like him- NO SECERTS lol

  • I never fully understood what was so important about this conversation. murder for whom? what?? great movie otherwise.

  • @Jantv81 did you doze off and miss the end

  • These older films are always better than the trailers. Making trailers has become an art today, back then the corny voiceovers ruin the whole thing for younger audiences checking these older classics out.

  • such a great film. one of the best american films from the last "golden age" of american filmmaking. it's surprising what a lousy trailer the studio made for it.

  • After seeing this film I could never look at a toilet with a calmness in presence of mind.

  • Thumbs up if demonoid is on the other tab...

  • existential classic-- better than a game of hot anal potato!

  • I regret to say that this movie hasn't held up well. It's a critics' darling, but so much of it smacks of film student shallowness. There's lots of empty rhetoric regarding Harry Caul's Catholic morality, his reluctance to destroy the Virgin Mary statuette that he thinks might be bugged, etc. The whole movie plays like a Scorsese flick at the wrong speed, and it goes on and on and on, getting nowhere fast.

  • @bsharpinLondon Actually, that footage is from the actual movie. You might not have noticed it, since it does contradict the storyline, but it's there.

  • This is the best movie I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of movies.

  • I wish the trailer had included a crucial line uttered by Hackman's character- "I'm not afraid of death...but I am afraid of murder" A difficult film to watch, but it's brilliant! Probably more essential and relevant today than when it first came out.

  • what is the song piece from here?

  • In the 70's American movies were so creative , artistic and of high quality - the American cinema was at it's height !

  • One of my favorite films. Hackman should have been nominated best actor for this masterpiece of american cinema.

  • I am madly in love with this film.

  • this movie is as interesting as watching paint dry in slow motion....i don't see the "importance" of it....other than being painfully boring to the point it hurts to watch.

    Complete bomb.

  • @CosmicDebris77 lol thanks for being honest.. yeah the trailer is boring enough, the movie must blooooooow! i'll pass.

  • @lexmark136 lets hope next time they will put in a few explosions and titties so your brain can comprehend...

  • @thetruthis9 yeah just like the explosions I make in ur moms uterus.. BURN!

  • @lexmark136 u got burned...??? at least you admit your STD's...bwaaaahahahahahah...PWND...!!!

  • @thetruthis9 lol... touche

  • I saw this fairly recently and it's become one of my all time favorite films. Truly amazing. Does anyone know why the hell it's not avaliable to buy on DVD?

  • @prismgap its on amazon for about £4.00

  • @odellshaun Cool, thank you. I'll check that out.

  • This movie is pretty damn scary

  • Just watched The Deer Hunter. Last film John Cazale was in. I'm young so i'm watching all of these great old movies. This one is next.

  • Great movie, terrible trailer.

  • SPOILER ALERT

Actually, that shot is in the film, when Harry briefly imagines what he thinks is happening. Smart use of the footage in the trailer so as not to tip it for the audience.

  • Thanks! I thought I knew that movie pretty well

  • No problem. Sounds like you do know it. It's a quick shot. They were better then about not giving movies away in the trailers; they show too much now. I love how this movie examines perception, privacy, and paranoia. My favorite Coppola. I got to meet Murch -- a true gentleman -- last year and ask him to sign a lobby card. A thrill.

  • @KMcSomething yea like KMc said that part is in the movie...

  • Have I seen it ...?

You bet! I've seen it a dozen times. It's one of the all time greats as far as I'm concerned. I first saw it in the cinema about 30 years ago and found it very disturbing then. It still packs a punch today. The music and the sound are brilliant. Sound editor: Walter Murch, who did a lot of work with Coppola. A real genius and a very interesting guy too. I went to a lecture at the NFT once with Murch, and realised then just how much this film owes to him.

  • checkout this full movie site.. has most of the movies from trailers on here.. F I L M B R O . C O M

  • They just don't make like those anymore. The film AND the trailer.

  • This is a great film!

  • justwinbaby1969, i think "dukes of hazzard" and "american pie" are your type of films ;)

  • i saw this movie it's badass

  • What does the term "badass" mean? I am not familiar with contemporary colloquialisms or slang.

  • @SIngli6 yes it's slang it means it was really good

  • Thanks

  • He looks so different in this movie than in the French Connection.

  • /watch?v=Sh1wmPQA0QA

  • anybody know why he stares at that toilet?

  • Didn`t you watch this movie yet?

The answer is in this film, i think.

  • Watch the movie and you'll find out....:)

  • When you watch the film, you will find out. And what a scene it is.

  • Coppolas Best & one of Hackman Best's!!

One of my all time favorites!

  • Movie trailers were much better in those days!

  • Was " Enemy of the State " inspired from this film? This is my favorite.

  • Absolutely. Gene Hackman's picture I.D. in EOTS is photo from the conversation a clear wink to this movie. Jerry & friends just made an updated version of this Coppola classic

  • Thanks!

Yeah,I know about the photo and one agent was wearing almost the same semitransparent raincoat of Coppola film.

  • I'm right now writing an essay on enemy of the state, and about the similarites between them.

  • The piano track is called THEME from THE CONVERSATION and you can get the CD online from INTRADA. Rare CD. It is by David Shire (Zodiac - also a great soundtrack)

  • does anyone know the name of the piano song that plays throughout the movie or how to get it?

  • couldn't follow the story first time but second time it fell into place - excellent plot, catchy music.

  • Peliculon de Francis Ford Coppola. una gran actuacion de Gene Hackman, comenzando su gran carrera cinematografica

  • haklısın kardeş bence de

  • this is a weird movie

  • Hackman kinda reprises this role in Enemy Of The State....

Such a simple film - Great stuff.

  • phenomenal movie

  • I had to watch this movie for a class on conspiracy theory in film and *loved* it. Probably the best movie no one's ever heard of... what a shame!

  • we know that you know Mr.Caul..for your own sake don't get involved any further..we'll be listening to you!

    i love this movie..it's so eirie and mysterious,yet entertaining...even if"Shirley Feenie"..aka Cindy Williams(LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY) is up to something sinister!.. a 10/10.

  • can someone upload a whole movie please?

  • go out and buy it. its a brilliant film so you should support the people who made it.
