does anyone have any info on the army transportation unites that were there i know the 8th group was there but what was the brunt of there missions and were they took supplies? Obviously to the north but where else?
This was a radio station. I was an Amer. Advisor (1967-68) assigned to RF/PF QuiNhon. During early morning hours of Tet-1968, VC took over station. That morning I went to the station with a company of RF/PF. We took number of casualties trying to cross courtyard to get into the building. The Province Chief would not let me call gun ships to help us out. Korean Tiger Div. offered to help and Province Chief approved. The ROKs use two jeep mounted 106 Recoilless and did damage seen. No VC survived.
Slight differences. I was stationed at the 67th Evac 67-68. The building shown was
called the radio station, as I recall, and it was the South Koreans ( Capital or White Horse Divisions) who stormed the building, and not the ARVNs, who essentially had no presence in QuiNhon . 2 other Army docs on the staff then have returned to QuiNhon in the past few years, and both said essentially all
of the Viet citizens are young and friendly, and have no memories of the conflict
Thanks for the info. I was being a "tourist" at the time I shot the film of "radio station." having come to Qui Nhon from An Khe to get some minor eye surgery at one of the army medical units there.

I'm sitting looking out over the beach in Qui Nhon as I watch this, watching fishing boats. We're about to go visit some places around here. It's really a lovely place. Actually, one of the cham towers you got a vid of is just near my gf's village. Interesting: same place, very different experiences.

sure recognize those places......spent 6 months in Qui Nhon in 68 before going to the Long My [?] Valley .....anyone remember that place? This vid brings back many memories......some good, some bad.....thanks.................
My Dad was one of the searchlight guys his unit attached to Calvary One. I don't know much more than that and that he was purple heart and is looking for a Robert Barlow. Dad was there in Qui Nhon in 1965.
I also was stationed at the Qui Nhon Navy base from September of 1967 to September 1968. I worked in the supply warehouse next to the maintenence shop. Maybe I knew your dad. My name is Clayton Heinz and was an SK3 (storekeeper 3rd class). Will wait to hear from you.
