i had a ankle replacement last november 2008 i recovered from that surgery but in january 2009 i fell down in living room and broke my heel bone in same foot i had surgery on . from that day theres a lump on bak of my heel would that be a tendon pulled hurts like hell when i bare weight
My achille tendon is frayed(desflecado) not completely a rupture buy its a little bit frayed so I need an advise please, I already went to the Doctor and told me to rest, and have Vitm B12 . I practiced ballet.
I had a complete tear of my left achilles tendon last September during a baseball tournament. It's been 8 months now and I'm almost back to normal. I'm taking the summer off to make sure it's 100% before I get back into doing strenuous things, but yes, it hurt like a bitch AFTER the surgery.
When it happened, it felt like someone kicked me. It only REALLY hurt after the surgery and during rehab.
This is wrong. The achilles tendon can (if it is healthy) hold almost 1 metric ton of load. Therefore it is highly unlikely to rupture the tendon as a result of normal physical strain. Microdamage in the tendon after much abuse (height jumpers) cause decreased blood circulation which again causes atrophy. The weakened tendon may therefor rupture, but that is because of it's not as thick as it once was.
I hurt sprained my ankle about 5 years ago. I didn't let it heal long enough and continued to play basketball for about 1 more year after just a short break of about a week or 2. I have had achilles pain, ofcourse worst at that time when I played sports and ran. Not enough to really stop me but it still hurt. Now its been a few years since I ran or anything but somtimes I feel discomfort but not "real pain" when I run and jump... do you think I need surgery?
tore my achilles tendon 01/13/09..had surgery 01/21/09 in a splint now...shit hurt! playing b-ball felt like someone landed on the back of my leg. hopefully i'll recover soon
If you ruptured your achille will you know like you wouldn't be able to run jump and stuff like that right? Because I was wearing a shoe that was too small and the preasure of each step took its tol on my heel leaving me with pain everyday but it is bareable and I can jump and run with a slight limp. I try to do calf raises and ice it everyday now for about 3 weeks. Should I try something else before going to see the Dr?
No. You would not be able to do any kind of explosive movments. However, if you do rupture your achilles, there will still be some movement of the calf, because the soleus (which sits under the gastroc) is still intact. If rehab and ice do not work alone, add a regimen of anti-inflammatory drugs: 800mg of ibuprofen 3x day or 2 aleve 2x a day. you can also try a heel lift, which you can by at any sports store. If there is still no improvement, I would recommend you see a physician.
ive never ruptured mine, but ive sprained mine 3 times, once on my left, twice on my right...actually, i just sprained my right for the second time on the trampoline...OUCH!!!!!! god, its gonna hurt tomorrow...
Guys i just ruptured mine about a month ago and still have not gotten surgery im not sure how bad it is because i will know in about 3 days. Any advice for me and what lies ahead?
I've done it already on both legs. Something very uncomun. First time was December 2002 and the second time Sep 2006. I'm fine once again and continue to play all kind of sport.
But if it happens once again i'll just have to quit sports.
i did it in june 2006, it wac cut off totaly the doctor use my leg tendon to repaire the achilies tendon it was my wors time in my life , iam still taking care in my activities
I ruptured mine in October of 2005. After surgery, one month in a hard cast, and one month in a walking boot I was back running by February of 2006! I currently run about 5-8 miles 5 times a week and have no pain or discomfort, and to me the horror stories about "never getting back to they way you were" were worse than the injury itself. Yes, it was painful but I'm back to normal and don't let the negative testimonials get you down.
