Previously it was a hungarian helicopter (reg. HA-BGP) Made in 1984. From 1985 until 2001 it flew at Hungarian Army ( nr. was 8914) after it was sold to "TURUL Aviator and Paratrooper Sport Associaton" who made a full renovation on aircraft. The color became one of the metal color of Fiat Punto 1995. The helicopter was sold to Sweden in 2004 and crashed on 21.06.2005.

this was clearly not an experienced pilot. The second it lifts off it drifts to the side and back. An real pilot would have pulled straight up, rotated to check for clearance, then have gone above the trees and poles. If he didn't have lift, he should have set it down and killed the engines.

The main rotor hits the light pole, deflects and shears the tail section off! Pretty bad accident. I flew this type for two years and they had power problems often. You just out it down immediately and shut down. Thing is you just started all over again and NO PROBLEM! Amazing and very scary.

After reading the accident report I have to say I don't really blame the pilot, one of the engine had a sudden blockage at the fuel injector and therefor lost almost 60% power, and the pilot said he could put the helicopter down because of the people filming this video and elected to try to climb straight ahead. But with so much power reduction there just wasn't enough thrust to get any higher...

First of all, you don't "ride" helicopters. You fly them. Second, any helicopter pilot knows that the rotors are not strong. Sure, they can lift the helicopter, but they cannot withstand impact. Only an idiot would fly through a bunch of trees like he did. And yes, flying a helicopter is very hard. But knowing how to fly, and STILL making the decision to fly through there is just beyond me.

No loss of engine power! The heli had five on board, possibly with full fuel and therefore would not have the power reserves to climb vertically away from obstructions like those trees. Stupidly he opted for translational lift whereby one lowers the nose, applies power available and waits for the chopper to gain lift whilst moving forward close to the ground.....translational lift is never a good idea in a confined space, as can be seen here! Helicopters rarely kill people, people kill people

That may have been the worst helicopter flying I have ever seen, outside of some student flying. Poor control, even in a stationary hover. Poor decision making--If the chopper doesn't have the power to take off from a location without flying 15 feet over a street with pedestrians lining it, have it trucked to a mechanic, ferchristsake.

It has been done, but only in a military capacity where the rotor blades are ejected first. However this is clearly inadvisable in a civillian location due to the danger of the blades flying away and causing further damage, injury or death.

He didn't have a formally valid licence (but that had no relevance to the accident happening according to the investigation.) The 100 year old was severely injured and died three days later. From what I remember, moving fwd does create slightly more airspeed and lift on the the blades that are moving fwd, but the oposite blade moving aft compensates for that by reducing pitch angle so that the helicoptor doesn't roll when moving fwd. How does moving fwd posibly create more lift??
