The reality is 40% of trans people can't even get any health care (except through clinics targeted towards them). It's virtually impossible for transpeople to get individual health coverage outside of corporate coverage. Transpeople are regularly denied coverage and treatment. There is systemic discrimination in the US health care system. Sorry, but the interviewer seemed very naive concerning this issue.
As a transitioned person, legally and anatomically a female with all documentation now showing same I also am experiencing discrimination. I was told by my primary care physician that to get hormonal care I would have to leave the city of Atlanta GA. I am still looking for care!
