  • IM TOTALLY WATCHING THIS (sarcasm)

  • Takes me back, thanks!

  • you should watch this shit high lol

  • Geez, something about this scares the hell out of me - I feel like it would give me nightmares for months.

  • What is the name of the song and artist that you hear at the very end of this trailer? Is there a soundtrack for this movie?

  • this is a fucking mix between Mean streets and The Godfather and with animation !!! awesooome .... and CLASSIC!

  • A song starts at 1:14. What is that?

  • @saltcitystud Scarborough Fair, Sergio Mendes

  • @vaccavo Thanks but Scarborough Fair starts at 1:27. I am talking about the song before that at 1:14.

  • @saltcitystud oops. sorry. sounds familiar, classic music, I guess.

  • If only they could make movies like this again that would be such a comeback! Unlike all of this other crap that's playing in theaters with a few exceptions.

  • Was that... Mel Brooks as God?

  • @KimKhan

...was thinking the exact same thing ôÔ

  • no, just trying to find the one i had back in the 70's...lol

  • does anybody have some pre-1990 acid layin around they dont want???

  • @ismokewead420 Lookin' for a time machine?

  • what song plays at 0:42?

  • @infinityblablabla Please don't tell me you've never heard "Twist and Shout" before.

  • I wonder how many parents let their kids watch this just because it was animated.

  • this is to much like Wizards and Heavy Meatle

  • i Luv this movie

  • pure genius!

  • What is the song at the end called?

  • @marioskywalker64 "scarborough fair," as performed by sergio mendes & brasil 66

  • @wallofvideo Thanks

  • It has a Scorcese feel to it.

  • Heavy, man.

  • these movies are sooo weird

  • 0:44 The Beatles twist and shout

  • I have to see this movie lol

Kind of sucks but even at this day an age when I let my hair grow I turn into a greaser until I get a haircut!

Gee, Thanks a lot Dad >_<

  • Jew Axe, FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • Too bad Bakshi didn't stick to original work as opposed to ripping off Robert Crumb and Vaughn Bode...

  • @Napalmdog Fuck You!

  • @Malum09 Truth hurts! He never worked with Crumb on Fritz. Rip-off artist douche-bag is what Bakshi is...

  • hough producer Krantz made varied attempts to produce an R-rated film, Heavy Traffic was given an X-rating by the MPAA.

  • Anyone remember a cartoon about a "greaser" kid (think young Andrew Dice Clay type) who gets kick out of his house and gets into adventures on the street? I think it was set in New York. This was back in the eary 80's and I must have been about 9 years old when I saw the trailer for it, but they only showed it late at night on HBO or Show Time I think.

  • @yinzjagoffs oh yea thats Hey Good Lookin also directed by bakshi. to my understanding, it hasnt received a good release

  • HEY! This is the voice of GOD! WHAZ UP!?! XD

  • haha, this is great

  • @OhGodNo666 oh yea man. iv seen making of and its a crapload of work. i mean u have to program the characters to do the movements and also make sure that nothing goes awry on their 'track'. crazy stuff man haha. either way all animation is pretty awesome haha

  • :23

    It has begun.

  • fritz the cat, heavy traffic and coonskin - - that's the holy trinity right there.

  • @wallofvideo Amen brutha! xD

  • Comment removed

  • @wallofvideo Don't forget American Pop and Heavy Metal

  • @wallofvideo and Heavy Metal ^^

  • He is kicking Ida's ass!!!

  • Whats that song at 1:20 ?

    I cant find the title.

  • @comedian618

It's actually an original recording of "Scarborough Fair" which is an age old minstrel song. (Though though the one you're hearing is heavily inspired by the Simon and Garfunkel version it seems) . Kinda like 'Greensleeves'.

I literally had to buy the CD (It was only a buck at the CD store I found it at) JUST to nab this track, since the torrent of the soundtrack has virtually no seeders..

  • @90sComputerGames Thanx! But I mean the song before that. Scarborough Fair starts at 1:30.

Anyone know the song before that... it starts at 1:13 and ends at 1:20

  • This movie looks epic! Wonder if it's as good (or better?) than Fritz.

  • @SuperKawaiiPandaGirl As good as Fritz. True story: I managed to snag a copy in (of all places) the Dollar Store, where it was mixed in with the kiddy cartoons! XD

  • @wsbtam Wow, somebody didn't do their research! :D Wonder what would happen if a mom picked that up for their children? Oh dear...

  • @wsbtam Wow sharp eyes! And dumb store attendant...

  • @moxie96 Thank you. More like, dumb packager at wherever they get their videos from. They also had a bunch of 70's blaxploitation films in as well..not in with the cartoons, though!

  • Seriously...llol What kind of discussion are Lovebryant5 and SongsJerome having??? On youtube of all places....

  • @BlackCatAlley The schmuck wanted to go out with me and I said "no" and the perra hacks into my youtube account!!! I have a right to be angry!!!!! One day that wannabe will get his!!!!!

  • @BlackCatAlley Well, the boy has a right to be mad.

  • does anyone know the classical song that plays near the end???

  • @ZOLTAR802 I have to hear it again.

  • @ZOLTAR802 The Anvil Chorus

  • @superstarcommissar Ah thank you man

  • ATTENTION FightsRightsAlways and OhGodNo666 it was me who hacked into SongsJerome's account, I was supposed to watch his house while he went out for a few days and I wanted to go on youtube and I saw that someone was making fun of my favorite films. So not trying to look stupid I used SongsJerome's name to start a fight with the users. So SongsJerome, I heard you wanted to press charges, please don't. I'm sorry.

  • @Lovebryant5 You better be sorry. I can't believe I let you watch my house man, I was stupid enough to.

  • This is a warning not a threat. Whoever you are, stop using my account and getting me in trouble! The next time anyone has contact me to say I have started trouble you will answer to the FBI.

  • @OhGodNo666 Excuse me I would like to apologize, but someone has hacked into my account and started trouble with other users. It must have been my neighbor. I am really sorry sir for the trouble. I will change my password and try to keep this account personalized. I have no clue who has done this.

  • @OhGodNo666 I'll try that.

  • @OhGodNo666 True dat.

You are a little spoiled nerdy white boy. An ignorant little skinhead who needs to get his ass kicked. If I see you in the streets, I'm gonna kick you fucking ass.

  • want free stuff? watch my video for details

  • looks dumb as HELL

  • @FightsRightsAlways Fuck you, you anime loving nerd. Ralph Bakshi makes good and perfect films. If you can come up with a better film then awsome, until then; SHUT THE FUCK UP and get your ass kicked!

  • Loved this film since 97 when i was 16 since i always enjoyed adult animation since the 80's when i watched Starchaser, Warriors of the Wind (The US butcher of Nausicaa), Fire and Ice, Wizards and Twice Upon a Time. In 93 i watched Rock and Rule, Heavy Metal, Vampire Hunter D, American Pop and Hey Good Looking with Robot Carnival on TBS and Cinemax, loved them. I've even saw Beavis and Butt-Head the movie, South Park movie, Antz, and Mononoke in theaters.

  • Stereotype: the Animation.

  • i'm so sick of 3d computer animated cartoons with celebrity voices...fuck that shit!. this is raw and real.

  • @goodvibesallround

CGI isn't always there, there's plenty of 2D, Flash, Clay Animation and Stop Motion around. We do have Princess and The Frog and Hayao Miyazaki/Ghibli animation to Secret of Kellis and DC/Marvel animation for 2D. Coraline and Fantastic Mr. Fox are awesome Stop Motion animation.

  • how did anyone make it through the 70's?

  • Wow...that's...heavy, Doc.

  • this is the kind of shit that people thought had artistic merit because it was animation set to "real people" talking. its just a 42 street picture novel FULL of stereotypes and cheap humor with no pathos or dimension to the characters or story. its the same type of anime shit that people think is "art" today. it isn't, its a step below melodrama and a few notches below a made for tv movie. i like the movie "UHF" but i don't go around thinking "why doesn't the world agree with me?"

  • @WKRPinCINN

Well anime can be good like Akira, Ghost in The Shell, Grave of the Fireflies, Ninja Scroll, Hayao Miyazaki's Ghibli movies (Princess Mononoke to Totoro to Spirited Away to now Ponyo), Fist of the North Star, Wicked City, Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2, Golgo 13 The Professional etc. to even some hentai if you know what hentai is.

  • Roberta, from the Cleveland Show, looks exactly like Carol. Plus, like Carol, she has a white boyfriend. I remember one episode where Roberta says that she uses her looks and brains to mainipulate men..just like Carol did. That's just one hell of a coincidence..

  • Friend and I dropped acid and saw this in '73.

    It was OK.

  • Wow, is it just me or is the way they made "Carol" really REALLY racist?

  • @ThePerrperr That depends. Did you watch the movie or just base your opinion on the trailer. If it was the later, then it IS just you.

In the '70s, when the fight for race and sexual equality was more militant, a liberated black woman would look harsh. And Carol basically said that as long as she was smart and knew how to manipulate men with her looks, she could make it without help, as then neither blacks nor women weren't getting help from anybody.

  • @bsabruzzo Oh, ok. VERY well thought out response dude, & I concede my point :-)

  • @ThePerrperr All the people in this film are stereotypes of their own respective social or ethnic group. I guess it's Ralf Bakshi's "thing":P

  • @ThePerrperr Nope, this film is just saying how life is in the Big Apple in the 1970s

  • "its animated, but its not a cartoon"

    More wisdom than it implies.

  • what a strange looking cartoon. its like the first South Park

  • @Guessnought theres more where that came from.. those animated movies would not have existed if it wasnt for the bad economy back in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

  • O_O Heavy traffic

  • wtf?? lol i loved fritz the cat...never knew they did other flicks like this...i have to look into this...^_

  • @demonkai76 and u have to check out "Coonskin"

  • @ElectricalFence

yeh and i checked that out that right after seeing this lol

  • Certain "people's" (ie; Italian & Jews) need to watch this film before they act out of prejudice to others just because they wanna rub their noses in the mud in order to please the white man. This bit of history will put them right in their place!

  • @CallMeBillyEvry1Does

I agree with you, completely. The only problem is... getting them to actually SEE the movie. Most will not bother with listening to the Truth; they'd rather just leer at ONE tree rather than gazing at the whole forest in perspective.

  • best american movie ever

  • Ugh, I can't stand Bakshi's movies Only American pop and 1960s Spiderman were any good. The rest weren't funny, sexy or have any social commentary you hadn't already heard somewhere else

  • @garlicthethird

You can't hate Ralph Bakshi's movie, they are beyond criticism you idiot!

    People like you are pathetic

  • @garlicthethird

American Pop is an awesome movie isn't it? up there with Grave of the Fireflies in terms of a mature and unique historical fiction movie in animation.

  • This cartoon represents a time and place that I never got to see and, yet, I long to live in...New York of the 1970's.

  • wtf this is so much more hardcore than anything out there today

  • love this film, should of been more directors following in bakshis footsteps :(!!

  • These movies (ralph bakshi's) are supposed to be watched on LSD....try it.:)

  • I think this was the best movie he ever made.....even better than fritz the cat...but maybe not wizards.

  • Heavy...

  • wow just wow

They would not be able to make this kind of movie nowadays, is that a lil sad?

  • @Amy4000 Flash isn't all bad you know, most flash artists still do hand drawn animation.

  • Its real its unreal its an acid trip

  • I watched this movie with my friend a couple of weeks ago... I am 12 years old and we thought it was absoloutley hilarious!

  • How have I not seen this movie?!!

  • Who sing the song about Maybelline?

  • @TheImmortalFool Chuck Berry

  • @Amy4000

Well Princess and The Frog and Simpsons were both critical and box-office successes.

  • I always thought think that Ralph is one of the Kings of Adult/ Mature Animation.

  • @HardyRStudios I love how he mixes his animation with live action backgrounds!!

  • ralph bakshi is the best non-japanese cartoonist without a doubt!

  • What about Disney ?

  • One of the best adult cartoons besides Akira or South Park the Movie.

  • OMG!!! YOU"RE AWESOME! AKIRA IS GOD!

  • That's a kickass movie! you like Ralph Bakshi too? so do i. Do you think his stuff compares to Anime and Heavy Metal? same mature audiences animation.

  • @Johnlindsey289 dude i love fire & ice & the lord of the rings animation ( though i love the film )

  • @yassway30

Lord of the Rings was ok but Peter Jackson's movies are more true to the source since i'm a Tolkein fan. Since you like Fire and ice, you should watch Rock & Rule, Heavy Metal, Princess Mononoke, Beowulf, The Last Unicorn, Secret of NIMH, Flight of Dragons and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds for similar animated fantasy movies.

  • @MilitaryBrat81

Akira rocks! loved it since i was 14 back in december 95 and my fave animated since. Seen Heavy Metal, Ghost in The Shell, Princess Mononoke, Ninja Scroll, Fire and Ice, Rock and Rule, Perfect Blue, Fist of the North Star, Golgo 13, Fritz The Cat, Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend, Wizards, Hey Good Looking, South Park the Movie, Starchaser Legend of Orin, Fantastic Planet etc.?

  • dont forget fritz the cat

  • Does Micheal remind you of Alex, from A clock work orange?

  • a little bit

  • YES. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who sees a similarity...!!

  • amazing movie made when movies were actually done with some artistic integrity and not about scooping up piles of dough. fuck the future. go backwards.

  • Agreed.

  • @hurtass i totally agree...this type of animation was grueling. Where as now we have computers doing all the animation. Boring. And why are there no more adult animated pics anymore? I'm sick of seeing a bunch of celebrities playing a fucking dog or a bee!!! Bring back wizards and heavy metal!

  • @goodvibesallround

Most agree man. What about Japanese animation? they make good adult animation too such as Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in The Shell, Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2, Fist of the North Star, Wicked City, Urotsukidjoi Legend of the Overfiend, Golgo 13 The Professional, Project A-Ko, Perfect Blue, Metropolis, Cowboy Bebop The Movie etc. great R-rated animated stuff.

  • @hurtass

They are! 2D is back thanks to Simpsons Movie, Waltz with Bieher or Princess and The Frog being successful. We even have Clay Animation and Stop Motion animation back and they were successful. There is hope for different animation besides CGI.

  • @hurtass omg jeez. Alot of shit were made back then, just as alot of quality is made now. The only reason the past looks better now is because quality lasts. We only remember the good things about the past, the tons of crap has rotted away.

  • @hurtass Yeah, there hasn't been a SINGLE movie with any artistic merit in 40 years.

  • @hurtass shut up films are fine now

  • @dynasta34

where is the proof? were running on 95% shit right now. perhaps we can meet so you can make me shut up?

  • @bfranklin70 Animated or live-action? There's plenty of creativity now. 70s are only seen as much better because they sweep all the shitty films under the rug and never mention them again, which is great, but people forget that that all the older decades had plenty of terrible films as much as I love older films.

  • @hurtass lol hipster douche much?

  • @hurtass You got that right man!

  • I won't follow a pro that doesn't include Bakshi in his understanding of modern cinema.

  • This movie was insane and made no sense at all, but Bakshi is great and it was pretty good from what I understood in it, so I give it a thumbs-up.

  • Heavy Traffic+4way Strawberry Fields=Bad Trip

  • Ralph Bakshi's best IMO!

  • thanks /t/ this looks really good

  • This movie, especially the characters, truly captured the heart and soul of New York City. LOL

  • Whats the song at the end?

  • Sergio Mendes and Brasil '77's version of Simon & Garfunkle's "Scarborough Fair".

  • HAhaah thanks.

Its funny because I am Brazilian a most part of the time I forgot about brazilian music XD

  • i love the way his movies are all 18 cert wearing it like a proud badge

  • I wish they will return the old trailers, they were SO up-to-the-point, without the creepy low voice sounding like the devil XD

    Anyways, the movie is awesome.

  • I know what you mean. Nowadays, we have to see all those logos at the beginning, the demonic voice over, the over the top special effects (YOU KNOW! FOR THE KIDS!) I miss the good old days.....

  • Raplh Bakshi is a king of brilliant live action/animation films before Who Framed Roger Rabbit came. I wish they put those Bakshi's films on Blu-Ray soon. GREAT TRAILER!
