he went for a wakeup buffalo headbutt and the gen player basically read his mind (cause the balrog player did it earlier through a crossup).

Well most melee ultra's just go straight forward, that stance's ultra does the opposite. Hence the jump to attempt to avoid it.
His OTHER ultra goes forward though, so it's a slight guessing game if you don't know which stance Gen is in, as the opponent.
