Check out this test on RTH (rocktumblinghobby ) this is a test I did for UKGE (England) with Zinc Oxcide polish on several different types of rock, It took 11 days from stage 2 (thats the smothed stage) In Vibe polsher, not rotary polisher, rotary polishers take a lot longer (21 days from stage two 220 Grit )
Hope this help you , further help go to RTH and join its the best rock polishing group on the net
the barrel speed sould be between 30RPM and 60 RPM for that size of barrel
I run mine at 42RPM
Usualy takes about 1 to 3 months (depending on hardness ) to get a pit free gloss finish in a rotary.
Agate takes about 3 months if its broken rough rock
Check out on RTH a test I did for UKGE (England) with ZO polish on several different types of rock, It took 11 days from stage 2 (thats the smothed stage)
Use a pocket knife try to mark the stone , If it leaves a silver mark on the stone it will polish if a chalky mark it wont polish to soft (under 7.0 Moths)
dont put in heavy pitted stones and wash thourly DONT pour the grit residue down the shower drain or house drain it will block the draind and set like concrete
Further details do a google serch on rocktumblinghobby
