I was in Nepal second time in 2005 and met maoists too. They took arround 20 USD from me. I met the same guys one hour later in lodge drinking liquer and eating xxl meals. Obviously they were spending "our" money to satisfy basic needs of poor people - as they were presenting themselves. just another brick in the wall of world wide utilizings.
